Now ... from South Carolina !! ....

Well .. almost a first for hubby finding exactly what I asked for (if it was possible, please!) .. I was not really a fan of gazing balls until just lately I thought .. "hum ... maybe I don't know what I am missing ?"
And by golly ... he actually found a beauty for me ! .. I was almost certain he would not be able to .. not knowing how to describe it or what the heck are those things called again ???
So "Lowes" in South Carolina (some where) .. he found a beauty for me ! ... now I'm not sure I can part with it putting it in the garden where heaven knows some birds might do something naughty on it .. some squirrel might have a brain spasm and think it is a HUGE nut to conquer .. oh my ... what a dilemma !

Joy, I just got home from a gardening friends house and she had a darling beehive watering can that she also got at Lowes. Guess where I'll be going on Monday!

Today was a zoo, I was getting ready for a daylily club meeting and was in the shower when my husband knocked on the door and told me that the speaker's flight was delayed and they called and asked if I could be the back-up speaker. HOly cannoli, I was a nut, to top it off, we had 60 members show up because he's such a well known speaker and instead they had to listen to me. Pfffff, hear all the air that went out of my head today?

Love that gazing ball.....!

Itis pretty and looks like a challeenge to find the right spot. It could be put inside a pot. Then have lots of pretty flowers flowing off the sides.

That is absolutely gorgeous. It will be an amazing addition to your garden, if you dare to move it outside.

Hi Crafty .. I'm still in shock hubby could find one for me ! .. and yes .. I have to find a SAFE place for it in the garden .. when I'm ready to let go ? of it in the house ? LOL

Hi anna .. it actually has a rubber stopper to "stick" it in its place .. but who trusts a squirrel or what ever from climbing on it ?? YIKES !

melanie .. oh my god .. my knees would go to jello and yes .. that same sound would certainly be happening with me .. that is stress in a bottle ! Hope it went well ! .. go to Lowes !!!

Hi Lintys .. that blue is amazing isn't it ! .. and it picks up other colours so it is going to be a WOW factor in the garden !

WOW Joy, that *is* a beauty! It's amazing how far the gazing ball has come from its humble beginnings. I have a hand-blown (er, handmade, mouth-blown) one that's cobalt blue with white swirls. Gotta love 'em!

That is beautiful. I am going to Lowes in Forney as soon as Middle Monkey wakes up. I want that gazing ball. The other monkeys are farmed out to friends/victims.

Hi *ben* .. that was funny .. itis hard to "state" some things without so manyjokes attached ? .. and it is amazing that I am a fan and have one now .. I always thought they were .. odd ? LOL
Yours sound beautiful !

Debbie .. LOL ! friends/victims .. yup .. here too when son was young ! .. There are some Lowes stores in Ontario .. in the Toronto area .. so none here .. boy ..I would love to have one .. John said the garden center was fantastic .. maybe it is a good thing there isn't one here ? LOL

I've been watching you long enought to know you must be running out of space indoors. Anyway it belongs outside where the neighbors can appreciate it. Besides I think it would look great emerging from a bed of white Astilbes.

Or take up bowling and use the stand indoors as a ball holder. The Gazing Ball can still be used outdoors to drive the wild life squirrely.

There is a Lowes in Odgensburg. It doesn't have the best garden section imo though. I'm afraid it would be a couple hours wasted traveling to check it out.

wiseacre (see? spelling spot on ?) .. jeez ! .. haha
Ok .. YES .. I saw that in my mind's eye (small as it may be) beautiful full white astilbes with the gazing ball just above them .. nice, relaxing picture !
YES .. I am running out of space indoors .. between under my bed (some how that sounds naughty .. must be just me probably) .. family room .. living room .. utility room .. well, there is NO way I'm going in the attic ! So the fun stops HERE ! haha
If you already know that isn't a good store .. nope .. no use wasting time or gas on that one .. besides .. I have enough with my pictures to keep your spirit alive ? LOL

That's great - I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of it once you've decided where to put it!

Thanks for dropping by !

I know I have already been here once today. I am not stalking you, really I'm not. I just saw a cat on stuffonmycat.com that looks like sophie. Thought you might enjoy it.

It is a very good one, blue is my favorite color and I have seen some 'not so good' ones!

How ever did he get it home? I guess he didn't fly!

Have a lovely day.

Hi Joy,

Your new gazing ball is beautiful - it looks great inside and I'm sure it will look wonderful outdoors as well!

I enjoyed reading about the lost turtle and your goatsbeard!

Oh and my birthday was in December - the big 50 (I saw a wonderful card on the blog of another who turned 50 - the caption was 'I prefer to think of hot flashes as power surges') My orchid has managed to survive since then!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Kate !
Thanks for dropping by : )
Yes .. this gazing ball is something else ! .. I love it
That turtle was something else too .. I don't think we will ever forget that event.
God .. those hotflashes ..I could do without them .. I'll try to remember they are power surges !
I'm filing the orchid adventure for next winter, when I am desperate to "garden" something !

Hello byrnbunny ! Thanks for stopping by .. your pictures are amazing ! the frozen grass in mid air is awesome !
I just hope to have that ball survive a season in my garden : )

Hey gail .. have you finished your chocolate adventure ????
No they drove .. so the great ball escapade was safe on the way home !

Debbie ! .. I left a message on your site .. I had never been to that cat site before .. wow ! it is a hoot .. and your antique juicer .. another wow ! it is a beautiful blue and what a way to juice 3 fruits together .. good idea !!

This is a nice one! I always liked the antique ones, but then gazing balls went through a period of gaudiness that I didn't like. The one you have is beautiful and tasteful, unlike some with all manner of animals holding up mirrored balls, balls with flowers sprouting from the top, etc.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Aiyana .. I am still in shock that John could find such a nice simple one .. I didn't expect a stand so that was a plus ..
You are right about a period of time that they looked just plain awful .. that is why I never thought of having one .. but now they are simple and lovely (most of them) .. I am nervous for the fact that this is actual glass though .. so being careful is number one with this ornament !

Gail said...

Joy,
Yes I have and I am onto other adventures...we visited a nature center today and I will share photos this week, but there are always chocolate adventures awaiting us! And you?

gail

I taught myself to drink coffee in grad school by putting it in hot chocolate! Way before the coffee bars showed up.

John Keats' "A thing of beauty is a joy forever," seems appropriate, here. Nice find! I'm wasn't much of gazing globe fan, until I found a small one, on a short pedestal base.

You can take some amazing photos, gazing into these... a friend took a fabulous one, for which he won an award... I like your stand, too!..Deb

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Deb .. I wasn't a fan of them either for some time .. then they started making them less tacky looking and really interesting as they reflected the colours of the plants etc .. I didn't expect John to get a stand .. but it is simple and wrought iron so that is a bonus ! ... now finding the perfect place where it looks stunning and is SAFE .. that will a mission !

Hi Gail .. looking forward to the pictures ! .. I made a cherry chip cake with intense chocolate icing .. just a little goes a long way with that .. so I'm behaving ? myself !

Entangled said...

I thought I didn't like gazing balls, but that one is really nice. I'll have to check out the rest of Lowe's garden section - I usually breeze past things like that on my way to the potting soil ;-)

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi entangled .. if it wasn't for hubby going south to play golf .. I probably would never have gotten one .. I haven't seen any here in Kingston .. I do like this one a lot !

I too have reservations about gazing balls, I enjoy a bit of whimsy but it can be overdone. I REALLY like the stand on this one and the etching too.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Rees .. yes .. garden decor can be over done .. and I'm sure I am always on the edge of doing that because I don't have a lot of space .. my borders are rather ridgid in design .. I really have to get creative this year to find the right spot for this one!
Hey .. thanks for stopping by !

This lamp looks like a japanese paper lantern. It is the spring equinox today.I recomend you to celebrate this day lighting this lamp. I couldn't find Gazing ball in my dictionary.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hello Kazuochan ! How are you ? .. This is not an actual lamp .. it is just a pretty glass ball that you place in the garden to reflect light and the plants near it.
Has your golf swing improved ? LOL
