What to do ?

My heart goes out to our doves that stick to our garden as barren as it is. Hubby put more seed out for them and this little guy/gal decides to sleep right in the middle of the pile on the table. Do they nest in a shelter other than a tree ? .. if we built a little shelter would they take "shelter" there ? .. I feel so darn awful for them especially with our weather turning VERY wicked right now .. the house is creaking (sounds like it should be a Halloween song ?) the wind is cutting .. and the snow .. well it is coming .. again.

Hmmm. I guess I've never seen a mourning dove nest. I'd have to do some research on that one. They do have a lovely, lonely call though.

Cinj ... the first time I heard them wasn't even in my own country .. it was in Holland .. we didn't know what the heck the bird was ..

I don't see them much around here until it snows. When we get a good snowfall I have lots of them.

We haven't had real snow for awhile... we had a token one last Sunday. There's always that chance though... often through mid-April. So, I'm keeping most of the mulch on the beds for awhile, yet. ;-)

Aren't mourning doves lovely?

I think this little dove fell asleep cause it was appreciative and doesn't have to worry about the next meal. I'll probably sleep with my chocolates tonight.

Anna ... Now I have a picture in mind of you gathering chocolate all about you and snoozing with it : )

Shady .. I know we will have more snow. The only good thing about this is that the ground water will be replenished so much more compared to past years. I need to be in my garden SOON ! aarrgghhh !

Hi Robin .. Yes .. the snow seems to bring them in looking for a better chance of food.
