Comments Most Appreciated !!

Huge Karley Rose Fountain Grass on the left with a smattering of Blue Fescue grasses.. Pennisetum Alopecuroides Hamlin .. loads of vines to the right .. grape and kiwi , Joe Pye, Cimicifuga Racemosa I even found eryngium Miss Wilmot's Ghost
last year ! I tried flat head sea holly but I was really looking for HUGE flower heads .. so this is really an interesting year to see if I will SEE that ?
Who can have a garden without Mullins of some type ?

The left is my longest sun bed .. filled with coneflowers, annise hyssop, assorted vines, herbs, too much to list here .. but it is action packed all season !
My favorite Monkshood just starting out ..
Aconitum carmichaelii Arendsii A surprising Wintergreen that has taken hold .. lovely little plant .. I am so glad it seems happy !

Firespray Tulips .. beautiful red .. multi-branching. Firespray Tulips
Hubby has it as his favorite .. you just have to plant something the guys will take interest in ? LOL

First ... I have a load of wonderful comments ! Thank you all so much for being so sweet with my perpetual cat/kitten and general nonsense photos : )
I have been working in the garden for 3 days, so hard .. I feel like I am going to fall over .. but .. I wanted to post some pictures of actual garden content ... even the bad parts, where my garden looks like a waste land .. it takes a lot of nerve for me to be able to do this (something like undressin gin public .. which we all know THAT would never happen ? LOL ) .. but all of you have been so nice .. I'm able to do "naked garden" no holes barred - scary, but true pictures ... yikes ! I haven't taken pictures of all my garden ... just didn't have the strength .. haha ... so here are a few .. it is supposed to rain for about 4 days ... rest up time .. phew ! But what a wonderful feeling that I got the leaves up and the plants/soil can breath and soak in the rain .. BIG sigh of relief !

joy,
First of all your garden is not a wasteland, it is early spring for you! I have looked at my garden and said....'all I see is brown' so I think I understand;) It is hard to let your garden stand naked, but very brave...

For a minute I thought the tulips were a trout lily which made me wonder if you have many ephemeral wildflowers...here today gone later so they don't interfere with perennials. Not sure which ones will grow where you live but surely anything with canadensis in its name;) The early spring flowers are so important in my garden, once summer is here there's phlox and rudbeckia then fall with asters, wild and domesticated!
I love the wintergreen, really love it (want some), the curve in the bed, all the perennials you grow, the rocks...oooh! would a BIG boulder or two or three look out of place? They are terrific shape makers in snow (so I have seen in photos!).

I like seeing the bones of the garden - it is fun to go back and compare them with photos of them in full bloom. You have laid yours out well and it looks like you've done a lot of hard work. It is a great feeling to get a head start on it, isn't it?

Wow, Joy, you have 'Miss Wilmott's Ghost'! Wish I did, too--I love hsitoric plants! I just had to buy 'E.A. Bowles' narcissi from Barry Glick at Sunshine Farm & Nursery this winter, and have been growing them on in the greenhouse until the soil's warm enough to set them out--maybe today! I envy you your three days of gardening. Just got romaine lettuce, arugula, and a few herbs in the bed yesterday, hope to get snap peas in today, and potatoes and onion and shallot sets in the big bed tomorrow. Whew! But what a delight!

I'm quite shocked to see no snow. You must be pleased to see the earth again, as well as the plants :-)

Hi "easy" !.. sounds naughty ? LOL
YES .. no snow and actual earth and actual plants gingerly sprouting away .. I'm so happy to begin the season .. I'll be groaning and moaning later on NO doubt ! But for now .. HAPPY !

"ben" ... I have been after Miss Wilmot for ages .. I was shocked to see it in a garden center .. now mind you, I planted the "plant" last year .. no flowers/seed heads .. but the root should take hold and do something this year .. hopefully ? .. Wow ! you have been busy too ! .. I don't have room for veggies .. although I have tomatoes in pots .. I have so many seeds to go in pots this year with all the vines .. no room at the inn now ? LOL .. you are going to have lots of greens !

Hello Phillip ... thank you ! it is great to see changing pictures of the same areas through the seasons .. I'm taking out more grass for maybe pea gravel path ways with stepping stones .. and planted "steppable" sedums and herbs in-between too. Adventure time : ) Thanks for stopping by !

Hey Cinj ... has all that forecasted snow really fallen ? .. I know you feel discouraged .. hang in there girl ! Yes .. before and after pictures are great to see !

Hi Gail .. that is funny you mentioned the Trout Lily .. I am after one .. along with Jack-in-the-Pulpit .. I would like more natives in my garden and those too I really WANT !
The Wintergreen was a surprising find .. such a nice little woodsy? plant .. along with some others I have.
YES ! I love boulders and rocks .. it is just that I have a very confined space here .. plus giving up planting space even though I would love the big ones ! sigh .. I'll have to enjoy your pictures of them instead ? LOL

Oh Joy, your garden looks beautiful! It's so much neater than mine and hardly looks much further behind us in season.

I can't wait to watch the progression of growth.

melanie .. you goofy gardener ! .. mine is a postage stamp garden compared to yours girl ! It screams to be neat or totaly chaos will cave me in .. haha .. but yes .. it is amazing to see it grow into a pretty and some what lush garden ! thanks !

Wasteland?? The garden looks awesome even now, and that wonderful, never ending bed, in a while it will by like a road to Paradise, a brimful of joy. A few days of rain and it's about to boom. Only a few weeks ago I was moaning about all the crappy weather and I would love if it would rain just a little bit over here as well.

Hey Violet .. I know what you mean .. there are so few days that we actually like our weather .. all the rest we want something different .. the perpetual search for just the "right" weather ! LOL

Joy, you've been busy! It looks amazing, and you're ahead of the game certainly. I still have a bunch of raking to do. Thankfully the daffodils can poke up through all the leaves no problem. Congrats and enjoy your rest (your plants will enjoy the rain).

Hi Jared .. the leaves didn't bug me as much as those maple key ? wings ? thingies ? .. so many this year it is ridiculous, not even our own trees either .. and they are sprouting like crazy too .. you almost have to hand pick them which takes so much time .. but I'll get back at it after the rains are through .. a couple of days at least .. phew !
