The Garden Gate and I

Well ... it ain't pretty right now .. almost worse than "bare bones" .. but my vision is like sugar plums dancing in my head ?! .. My ornamental kiwi vine is the sad look twiggy branchy plant looking rather miserable. That was a surprise to me quite frankly. It had roots like no body's business .. it was a tough job hauling that poor vine out of the sun bed. I'm so wanting this to work out (the way it looks in my head at least ?) .. the green, white and pink of this vine is gorgeous when it isn't pouting ! Fingers crossed. Next is Clematis Henrii .. which funny enough Diane at Alberta Postcards is writing about as well : ) I picked this large petal white clematis for impact. I originally wanted Niobe but couldn't find it in time to satisfy my planting urge. Of course .. the next day or so when I was haunting the garden centers .. there it came off a shipment. It looks rather sad right now .. I actually put some foxglove in between the day lilies and a Blue Lobelia .. I know it is chancy planting a wee bit earlier than I would normally .. ah, heck ! I do this every year and so far not too bad a result .. but I probably will be running out in my pajamas covering the poor dears if frost is coming. In any case .. I can see a lush path with wonderful plants eventually ? with the arbor covered and foundation plants thick as thieves !

Indeed, it was 95 here yesterday and sadly my roses got roasted.

Joy, love that gate! And your choice of planting material will surely make a lovely impact. Thanks for the link my dear. That lovely white of the Henrii plus the foxglove (oh how I love them) and the blue of the lobelia will make for some lovely contrasts, not to mention if that kiwi vine decides to get out of that snit :)

I look forward to watching the progress.

Thanks too Diane .. it was such a hoot that you and I were "working" with the same clematis at the same time ? "Kismit" ? LOL ... I'm really hoping everything will work out the way I have it in my head ? I am just bursting with ideads lately .. haha

Cat .. your poor roses ! that is a little to hot for me as well .. phew !
