False Blue Indigo Baptisia

This sort of looks like asparagus doesn't it ? .. baptisia has taken me a few years to get the hang of. I wouldn't dare move it now since it can be VERY cranky and quit altogether with the shock. I think Garden Girl went through some tough times with the same problem in fact. I have come to love this plant so I am leaving "good enough alone" for sure !
It is one of those plants you have to be patient with .. like the other one I crave (Dictamnus, gas plant in purple or purpurea ? some Latin phrasing in any case) another "Do Not Move" plant .. I don't have it right now .. but who knows ?
I think almost every perennial gardener knows about baptisia. Now they have so many beautiful cultivars it makes me wish I had more room .. yet again .. it is a thought I have daily ? ... Do all gardeners think that way or is it just the "shoe horn crowd" gardeners like us ?

Joy, still no signs of life on mine. I hope the other six that weren't dug up will be ok. It didn't look good for any of them last year, but maybe the winter freeze killed the fungus and they'll come back. I hope.

Whhhooooooppps! I closed the window without sending the comment, I think. What I wrote was that it surprises me at how many people DON'T know baptisia. When I speak about it I tell people to plant it and leave it there and also to threaten it after about four years if it hasn't flowered. I threatened mine with composting, and it's flowered well ever since.

Hi Jodi .. actually 2 of you were here and then I remembered I can delet one .. but commenting can be tricky is right !
I am surprised too .. this is such a lovely plant when it behaves .. but threatening it really does work some garden "kids" need a strong warning ? LOL

garden girl .. I have my fingers crossed for you .. it might just be the case of good low temps that kill what ever attacked them .. hope so ! We invest a lot of time and thought in these guys : )
