The "goat" is waking up !

I have been taking pictures very early in the morning thinking the light was just right. I don't think so now that I have looked at a lot of what I thought would be great pictures .. they are clear enough of have the depth of colour that these plants really have (in general) Purple-leaf Sand Cherry is pretty darn dark as it is .. and now that the "goatsbeard" is waking up .. the contrast is looking pretty good .. more to come !

Nice contrast is right. The green is perfect for the purple sand cherry.

Hi Aiyana .. it was a great combination from the beginning but now that the goatsbeard is becoming more mature .. there are more beautiful fluffy flowers to contrast against that dark purple. It is nice !

I like the contrast too. You do so well with this sort of thing. I look the grey fence in the background too.

Girl it's 100 here today. I'm not sure my front bed annuals are going to make it. My potted arrangements are looking very stressed. We aren't use to it being this bad for this long. It's bad.

The contrasts are very decorative! It's fascinating how many different hues there are to be found...

Anna ! my god ... that is hot ! we get terrible humidity with our heat .. that is what is dangerous here for us .. humidex warnings for the elderly and people with chronic illnesses .. I was out with hubby today trying to tame things from this jungle heat we have had for about 4 days now .. I am so glad we have AC .. I truly would be a mess without it.
I love this combo too .. and the gray weathered fence is perfect with it !

I love the contrast in colours. Maybe try the early evening light. I only mention this because you were saying you're not fully satisfied with the results of the morning light. The early evening light has a different spectrum and the colours will be much more rich ... maybe that's what you're looking for :-)

Diane YES ! .. I am looking for advice with the photography .. I got my Olympus because of the 18 x optical zoom .. but I think I have sacrificed better quality pictures some how .. I have to really look at the manual again .. all advice very much appreciated !! : )

I've never seen a 'Goatsbeard' before, but you're right - the contrast of the fizzy flowers with the purple foliage does look amazing!

Hi Ross .. it is like a giant white astilbe .. and the contrast of white to dark purple is eye catching .. the flowers have yet to really fluff out still : )
