The Menagerie

Well .. the zoo out front is coming in to its own .. with natural spaces for those few stepping stones I would like to have, to keep me from trampling some poor plant (I just know I hear tiny screams when they see me coming ..) June last year I never gave a thought to the weather besides having to water when dry .. now I check the skies and still have a little knot in my garden gut .. when dark clouds start forming .. that hail really left an impression on me ? .. the truly big picture .. farmers crops and peoples lives at stake, is so staggering to me I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. Global warming ... well .. I have some migraine pills here when that thought really hits home ?

That bed is such a gorgeous mix of colours and shapes - you've done a beautiful job with your plant choices!

Amy .. I just checked your blog and didn't realize you have had such a bad injury to your knee .. I hope they can pinpoint what exactly is wrong and can "fix" it quickly ?.. I know, that may be too much to ask for now a days ?
Keep resting .. read blogs ? LOL
Thanks for stopping by : )

If this is a "zoo," I must say all the inhabitants are co-existing nicely.
I know what you mean about the knot in your gut watching the weather. We had a downpour yesterday, and I am waiting for the rest of the water to leave the basement before cleaning down there--ugh. No gardening here for awhile.

The Frost poem was a new one for me .. Thanks !
Hope it all improves quickly for you soon : )

JOy---do you see my eyes popping out of my head!!!!! Goodness gracious girl. Stunning. Look at all that blending so beautifully. And it is my taste to perfection. Every single plant I want. Bravo. Hey...Proven Winners just called me and wants to know what I want---I'm getting ready to do a post on that and I want you to participate---give me a minute to get it up and going. I want perennials of course.

Hugs girl!!

I'm still here looking at all your photos. I'll be glad to tell them about you--in fact I'll email Jeanine--ha!, I know her name...and tell her how much you like PW too. They found me through my blog. Well they knew me from when I was at hgtv too. So they know I've been a fan for a long time.

They pick a universitiy, a theme park , and a home situation from each zone to test their plants. As a thank you for giving them feeback and following their guidelines, they send you plants. I've been late in giving them my list because of my move and junk going on. The 09 plants they want you to test, you have no control over choosing but the plants you choose for thank you's--you can get what you want. I've been talking about their plants for years so this is a no brainer for me.

I can't wait to see what you suggest for me. You know your PW's.

Hugs gal---you are one of my favs of all time!!!

Gail .. isn't it amazing what plants we are drawn to ? .. I wonder if it has any connection to a common personality .. do plants talk to us ? saying BRING ME HOME! LOL .. I know I hear that a lot in the garden centers and nurseries : )

Shawn .. I just stopped by your blog .. wow ! what a beautiful garden niche you created in Toronto ! amazing : )

Anna .. I can't imagine that I would ever be picked (I can dream it though ? LOL).. there are master gardeners here in Kingston that would step on me to get there .. haha .. I'm laughing at that thought ..
I think it has only been about 4 or 5 years since I found PW and really understood how great the plants were .. from then on a little love affair with them.
Your head and hands have been full with everything that has gone on. Time for you to just enjoy your own garden now.
I picked so quickly there were sparks coming off the keyboard girl .. so look out ? haha

I just love the riot of colors you have!

Mom just told me earlier that the hail they had over there last week has badly damaged some of my prize plants. Now, I want nothing more than to run over there and start babying them! Poor darlings. Hail is a nasty business sometimes!

Stunning! You are quite talented in gardening, and your landscaping skills are amazing. I've no doubt that passerby stop to admire the wonderful combination of colour and texture.

Hi Water Roots .. Thank you .. but there is still so much more to do before it really makes me happy .. "wood" borders .. ugh ? .. grass where I wan't irregular stepping stones with steppable plants .. a large list of changes still to come .. sigh ! LOL

Hey Cinj .. thank you ! .. hail is wicked stuff .. it really makes me crazy thinking it may happen again. It literally shreds the plants .. nothing like it !
