I think I have yet to come across a rose that can out shine "Morden Sunrise" .
It is such an easy, hardy rose .. it almost seems to good to be true ? It changes form and colour remarkably as it ages. I can take so many pictures of this rose and still it fascinates me with its different phases. I happy it is a Canadian bred rose .. Manitoba in fact so there is no question of how hardy this little wonder is. The show will go on until it has finally lost its battle with frost and winter stepping in .. ugh ! .. what a thought right now in the midst of so much greenery and colour ... I just wanted to pay a small tribute to this wonderful rose I am happy to have in my garden .

Well done Modern Sunrise! It is indeed a beautiful rose. I love the ones that change colors during their bloom. Joseph's Coat is another one. Your garden arbor gate project is looking great as is the front garden bed. Such pretty colors and textures. Whatever you are doing...keep it up!
It looks like fine lace. A feminine skirt of loveliness.
Brenda
Wonderful how the colours change.
I often wondered which rose was in your header.
Regards
Karen
That sounds like a prettier sister to my mutabalis
It's beautiful, Joy. I was wondering if it's a hybrid tea, climber, floribunda? I couldn't tell from looking at it what form it is in.
I have one rose left and it changes color like yours. Mine is called Rio Samba. I have been getting rid of all of my roses because of allergies to the thorn scratches. I can't bear to part with this last one.
What a beautiful coloured rose.
I love your roses! I am newly bit by the gardening bug. I love it. Don't know much, but I love designing...mostly on a dime because funds are low, but I love it! I will be checking back!
A very beautiful rose, exquisite colour.
Totania .. thank you ! .. it is a wonderful rose : )
"anonymous" .. thanks ! .. now a days most of us are doing this on a dime .. but after 8 years my garden is maturing and looking a lot fuller than when I started .. it takes time and a budget and patience with loads of enthusiasm ? : )
Thanks Crafty .. it is maturing and looking scrumptious this year : )
Jane Marie .. I will leave a link on another post so you can read about this rose. It is VERY hardy so almost everyone can have it in their garden. There is also that climber that is nearly thornless (they are breeding more and more like that) .. I hate thorns too .. but I love this rose : )
Debbie .. do you have recent pictures on that rose ? .. I have to get over to your place and have a stroll .. that toad episode made me LAUGH !
Hi Karen .. the picture for my header, was such a fluke of luck getting it just perfect .. I am still amazed myself girl ! LOL
Brenda .. she does remind me of a very girlie girl rose ? .. all frilly when her skirt flounces down ? LOL
Thanks Beckie .. after living here for 9 years .. coming in with a totally blank canvas to work with .. things are shaping up and making me very happy : ) .. Nothing like a garden that smiles back at the gardener ?
I can see why you love this rose--it is beautiful. But just how "easy" is it to take care of? I don't have much luck with anything but my Knockout roses. Keep us updated on the Zephrine...I have a spot where I would love to put an arbor. The only problem is that it is shaded part of the day. The Zephrine is described in the catalogs as tolerating some shade.
Glad everybody could get together in the garden for a group picture. They're looking good!
Rose .. how apt a name to talk about roses eh ? wink wink .. I know you must get that alot : )
Morden Sunrise is too easy to look after .. I really don't do anything for it other than the Spring time fertilizer I do the whole garden with. It resists black spot and pests very well .. so as easy as the Knockout roses for sure !
Zephrine is in a raised bed by our deck .. i have put up netting to train her up there .. it does get sun most of the morning and afternoon .. and i did read that it takes some shade but I am new to "her" so I'm not sure how much shade is too much ? ..
"Ballerina" is supposed to be shade tolerant .. here is some info at Dave's Garden on it http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/52459/
'Morden Sunrise' is VERY beautiful, Joy! Delicate and feminine in form, but flirty in color at the same time. The question is, is it fragrant? The only non-fragrant rose I can bear to give garden space to is 'Betty Prior'. But if you can assure me that 'Morden Sunrise' smells as good as she looks, I'll give her a try!
'ben" .. Morden S. has a beautiful "wild rose" type fragrance to it .. even hubby has remarked about how nice it smells .. so yes ! I can say you would enjoy its scent : )
I have to look up your non fragrant rose now ! .. it goes against my feelings for roses if they don't have a scent .. it just isn't RIGHT ! LOL
It is really a beautiful color!
Aiyana
Hi Aiyana .. it is an exceptional rose .. I'm just glad it seems happy in my garden.
Hi Joy - what a gorgeous rose. I would never have guessed that the rose in your header was the same plant. Does it repeat flower?
Just lovely. Thank you for sharing your favorite rose. The photos showing the changes were wonderful too.~~Dee
Hi Dee .. it is an extraordinary rose, to me : ) I know everyone favors certain plants .. but I have to say as a rose this is what I love ! : )
Hello PG ! ... a BIG YES ! This little shrub rose blooms from Spring to killer frost .. October .. I'll get loads of roses from it at all different stages. The header picture EBlog did so well it surprised me too ! LOL
