Little Lamb and Pinky Winky

The next hydrangea I read about and went mad for over the winter was
Pinky Winky. I know .. some of the names they come up with make you shake your head. This also looks like it is going to be one heck of a hydrangea. It has suffered from brushes with a big ladder (raccoon man couldn't help it) and drought since I haven't been on top of my watering chores .. once I get the front garden back to rights .. a nice big soaker hose is going to be used to make sure all these babies get their drink. I'm just happy to see flowers forming and not looking too shabby after all the ruckus going on there !

My first hydrangea was Little Lamb from Proven Winners, that I put in last year and was amazed at how well it grew and with so many gorgeous flowers. It was the first time I dried flowers in fact .. and I still have them on my kitchen hutch here. I can't say enough good about this little hydrangea and would certainly recommend it to anyone not quite sure about hydrangeas. It was my first and wow .. it is a wonderful one to start out with !

Joy, I'm thrilled you like these two PW hydrangeas. I just got them in the mail this week and planted them. I got a Limelight too;) Your blooms are beautiful. I've been back reading and catching up.

Hey I saw where one of your kitties,Sophie maybe?, is going in for surgery--my heart goes out to you and I hope all goes well. Hugs!!

Hi Anna .. I think Pinky Winky is going to be great with my Little Lamb .. I suggested PW to a friend and she loves it already.
Emma goes in for her spay operation on the 24 .. but she is in her second 'heat' cycle since yesterday .. it complicates things .. this was way to early for her .. I have never had a cat do this before, so yes .. it is a worry.
Thanks for stopping by .. I know you must be busy ! : )

Hi I've been looking through your blog. I'm wondering how your PW is doing? I got two this spring...very small plants and really didn't see any growth at all. Getting ready for a cold winter here and I'm really hoping they make it. Do you have any tips for me?
PS we're practically neighbors!

Hi Eve !
It took a while to find my old post here .. I'm not too bright first thing in the morning .. huge DUH ? factor to over come ? haha
My Pinky Winky was distributed by Proven Winners .. and it was a good healthy size and condition when I bought it .. another gardener on here mentioned theirs was a small struggling one too.
What I would do is make sure it has lots of mulch around it .. sort of a blanket to protect it through the onset of winter .. but make sure it is well watered up until freezing temps .. we haven't had rain in a while and it isn't coming soon .. so I actually have to do a good watering in of my garden this week (along with a tidy up .. BIG sigh !) haha
Good luck !
