To be a 'bee" in my garden ?

Can you spot where the star of the show is in this first picture ? Look for the 'pointiest" cone flower and see the little 'bump" ?

This little one isn't the typical chubby dozy ? bumble bees we have for the most part. This is a small and very serious bee that is on a mission and does NOT want to be interrupted .. or so the impression was that I got .. So I wasn't going to press my luck by getting too much in his/her face with the camera.

I was lucky that he/she was so intense with gathering goodies from my cone flower, that I could get close enough for some good shots.

It some how strikes a cord with gardeners to see up close, how amazing nature is .. this goes on time after time, all season, yet how many times do we see this singular action in a quiet moment in their time ?

Can you see the size of that stinger ? You don't want to tick this little one off. I think he would have to press his point about being on a mission : )

I have had some drunk bees in my garden who don't care if you sit on top of them. They are totally distracted. I've never been stung taking pics but I have when I was minding my own business.

Anna .. isn't that the way it usually happens ? .. some what like life really .. totally minding your own business and bang ! something happens .. LOL
I laugh at the big bumblebees that are so huge they can hardly fly .. now you have a chance to run from them if you had to ! haha

Hey Chey ! How are you down east ? LOL .. Thanks very much : )
I find coneflowers one of the easiest to focus on with insects .. all those prickles make them stand out ? : )

Thank you so much Nancy .. once in a while I get some good pictures and it keeps me going to try harder ? LOL

Darlene .. how are you doing ? .. I have to stop by all these great blogs again .. things have been so busy I feel like I haven't stopped since the raccoon adventures : )
Thanks for stopping by !

Cindee .. I have been lucky this year with rain .. it makes such a difference with how they look water wise .. when they are stressed with heat and drought, mine look awful too .. so they are kind of demanding when it comes to looking good .. like us ? LOL
