Curly Joe and his Stick

I decided I needed to name my "worm" as some bloggers called him/her .. I guess I went with a male name since the 'worm" is now known as "Curly Joe .. because of my curly parsley it seems to have made its home in .. Debbie from Aunt Debbie's Garden, advised me that Curly Joe needed a strong stick to attach himself to for the chrysalis stage .. so a bamboo stickett ? was quickly in place .. he/she didn't seem too interested but I guess I would be unimpressed if some one shoved a stick next to me and expected something to happen (other than me throwing it at said person ?) .. so I will keep the updates coming .. I'm still in awe and will need a good drink in hand if this follows through and I actually see it born to be a beautiful butterfly and leave home .. maybe number one son should watch the process so he gets the idea ????

Ha! Better than a stick up the old ass, huh! Debbie amazes me with her endless knowledge. I never had the occasion to have an adult child still at home. I imagine with two daughters we'd have killed one another by now! It's all we can do to get through a short visit without a war of some sort!

Oh how cute... It seems this little fella is quite pleased with your garden and has decided to stick around for awhile. This will definitely be a beautiful butterfly. I hope you get a chance to witness the transition.

And I laughed my 'butt' off with your last sentence..."maybe number one son should watch the process so he gets the idea..." Har, har, har...oh Joy...har, har, har...

Oh, not true! I've a swallowtail chrysalis on a low branch of young gold leaf tansy. I've not posted pics of it yet, but I do have monarch larva pics. I am behind with all the many caterpillars, but no names--I've found it's not best to get attached because they up and leave you. Sigh.

Curly Joe is so handsome. That's a good stable stick you gave him. We'll be waiting of course so buy lots of drinks.

benjamin .. how can I not get attached .. it is a girlie thing ! BIG sigh .. this is fascinating to me .. I'm a newbie larva mom : )

water roots ... honest to god .. a few of his friends are still at HOME too .. a weird gneration that thinks its normal !!! arrgghh ! Not that we can complain about anything other than his room .. like a bomb went off ? jeez !

Brenda .. son is an "only" child .. so no siblings to share or fight with .. we might have had a chance then ? LOL

OH shoot, I'm a newbie dad--this is my first year having larva, and so very many! I got my swallowtails at a nursery sale (the plants were on sale, I just picked off the larva from other plants), but my two dozen monarchs are home grown. It is pretty cool!!
