Anise is a cloud of heaven !

I was first going to post on fennel alone .. I tried out some affects on Picasso .. blurry fuzzy thing .. I'm not totally sold on it but what the hey .. it is there now.
It all started when I saw the great post on fennel by "Greenwalks" Fabulous Fennel. I thought it was wonderful because I love this plant too .. and it grew into a mini tree for me ..I was thrilled .. even though it still lacked butterfly larva .. can't get into that whole episode with Curly Joe still fresh in my mind.
In any case .. when I thought of how wonderful the scent of anise was, I had to mention my Anise Hyssop as well. The bees adore this plant. It is well behaved (needs a little support .. heck, most of us do anyways) .. but tolerates dry crappy conditions and still looks pretty good. So I say HORRAY to Anise .. it is my well loved scent !

Fuzzy photo thing I tried from Picasso .. hum ? not too sure of it really.

I'm a big fan of Hyssop too. It has a wonderful anise fragrance & the flowers are quite attractive to wildlife. Your Fennel has a wonderful airy look to it. Nice plant.

Thanks so much for the link to my fennel post! That totally made my day. Actually, that isn't my fennel, just a neighbor's. Mine is the short, bulbing kind, I don't think I've posted a pic of it yet. I am a big fan of anise smell too, I need to get some hyssop. Can you make tea with it?

Hi Karen .. yes I have heard you can make tea with it .. I haven't tried that yet though .. the smell is fantastic when you crush the leaves and I think it is the bees favorite plant (and I have quite a collection for them to choose from !) I loved that picture you took of the fennel .. no matter if it is the neighbor's , YOU took note and a picture to boot girl ! I like to link with a great plant, so thank you for that post ! : )

Hi pgl .. I have fennel and dill all over the place .. love the different scents .. and I keep hoping to capture some butterfly caterpillars some day on them !

Hunky .. that smell is a magnet for insects and some very discerning people too ! wink wink
You would have loved European Xmas markets .. that anise smell was everywhere with candy and baked goods .. it always reminds me of those now.

Ive always loved the smell of Anise. My grandmother grew a lot of it and used it as a spice for many dishes, especially homemade sauerkraut.

Hi Aiyana .. it truly reminds me of the European Christmas markest .. whether I was in German, Belgium, or Holland .. in such a souther province all those countries were so close .. I guess they all shared a love of this herb .. ah ! home made sauerkraut .. my mom also made pickled herring .. I liked it as a kid but not now ! LOL

Hi Debbie .. I downloaded Picasso as an option from Google .. but I use ACDSee as a photo manager more so .. but I tried a few creative options there .. and I want to upgrade to Picasso 3 .. you download from Google Deb !

Brenda .. honestly, it is more a ZOO ! LOL .. I love so many different plants I can't seem to help myself ? haha

Fennel and anise hyssop are two of my favorites, too! I enjoy anise hyssop tucked into the container garden on the back deck as well as the chartreuse-leaved variety in a bed along the back of the house. And there's no such thing as too much fennel!

'ben" I totally agree with you about, you can't have too much fennel .. I love it : )
You are talking about Golden Jubilee Hyssop ? I have it tucked away as babies from a beautiful mother plant I had .. found out that it was amazing I could grow it in my zone from another gardener .. I didn't know I couldn't ? LOL .. so it worked ..those violet heads on that amazing coloured body is a wow factor !
