The Salt Rock Lamp Adventure !

I had wondered about these lamps for a while. I thought they cast a nice soft light and seemed attractive just by looking as they do. I considered the other aspects when I read a little blurb on them in a sale flyer (negative ions and cleaner air ?) ... and thought .. hum .. maybe ?
Then Aunt Debbie commented on my post dealing with a bit of S.A.D. because of the early and long nights, combined with gray days. She spoke of her salt rock lamp and that she thought it made a positive influence on her.
Bingo ! even more incentive to give it a try .. so here we are .. this is a mini lamp .. the saleswoman gave me some extra lights in different colours .. but so far I am loving this soft orange glow .. yes .. some one who might know me well enough, will say ... because it reminds me of ... HALLOWEEN !!
I have to give it a few days and nights to know whether it does make a difference to me .. even so .. if not ... I love the glow it has and that is a "good thing!!"

I hope it helps you get through the dark days of winter Joy. It's a beautiful lamp.

I'm so glad you gave it a try. I just love mine. A fellow master gardener gave it to me. She said it helped he asthma. I really think it makes a difference.

You'll have to let me know how that works for you.

The type of light that makes a difference with S.A.D. is multi spectrum light. The bulbs are expensive but they mimic daylight. I try to get at least 30 minutes of daylight every day! it helps!

Hi Matron .. Yes .. those are the proper lights. I have a friend in Scotland that has been trying to buy the whole package deal .. and it is very expensive. This was sort of a fun thing to do .. I have seen them before and thought they were just so pretty : )

Hi knittnkitten .. cute name girl ! .. I'll post on it again for sure : )

Hi Debbie .. I had it with me most of the evening .. by my lap top and in my bedroom .. I just couldn't sleep with it on because I am used to pitch dark .. but girl, I'm loving this soft light and I think I was more perky ? with it beside me with the lap top .. it says to have it near that type of device to counter act the bad air developed with electrical devices such as computers etc ..

Hi Gail ... I forgot to look at the extra bulbs she gave me but I think so .. I'll post and let you know !

Jen .. even that soft glow is soothing to me .. I love that type of light : )

Amy .. I have always been curious about them just as a light .. I had no idea it had other benefits .. it is pretty isn't it !

PG .. Yes .. these early dark evenings slow is down so much .. but this makes me a little perky in my "office" ? LOL

What an interesting theory. I'd never heard of that before. Probably because I've been too busy making ornaments, researching soap making, and helping my cousins look through volumes on ancestry records to get anywhere with anything else lately. Worth a shot though, right?

I love my salt lamps---I have one in my bedroom, living room, home office, kitchen/dining area, and studio! The soft light is so soothing and welcoming. I love coming home and seeing the salt lamps glowing in the windows!!!

I probably have about 35 lamps in my house. Maybe that's why I don't suffer when there's no sun. I'm "all lit up" inside!

Brenda ! girl you have me laughing here : )
That was so funny how you put it about being all lit up .. I think you are right though .. I think all of that light does make a difference !

'ben" my goodness ! you have that many ? .. I'm thinking I do want to get another one for the main computer in the family room where hubby is all the time. The instructions said to leave them turned on .. do you do that too ?
I love the soft glowing light as well .. it is so pretty : )

Hi Cinj .. you have had a lot on your mind .. so no wonder ! .. I just clicked in on it a few weeks ago .. then I thought why not ? .. so here I am in my "office" with it on .. then when I shut down the lap top I take it in the bedroom .. I love the light : )

Hey there,

I'm actually Cat of Cat's World, that has reincarnated at Word Press.

I too had been eyeing them and bought one for my son who is now a first time home owner. As he needs lamps and a few decorative accessories, I thought the salt rock lamp would serve both purposes. Just picked it up yesterday as part of his xmas present - we'll see if he notices the added benefits.

Hi Shirley .. I thin I find a difference with some sinus problems I have had .. I feel a difference in easy breathing through my non-stuffy nose ? LOL .. I'm sure he will really like it even as just a lamp if nothing else : )

Hell knittnkitten aka Cat ! .. I left a message back on your blog .. I so hope everything goes well for your brother . Best wishes to you and him.
