Smudgy Cloud Sunrise

I know what you are thinking .. will this woman ever post about plant and garden issues instead of constant pictures of her "neighbor's sky ? .. OK .. it isn't their sky, it is every one's sky .. but just how many pictures can you take of a sky before it is SNORE time ?
On the other hand .. if you are in need of some quiet down time .. just something softly colourful .. something a bit mysterious (click on the picture and see how blue that sky is through the smudgy clouds .. you may be surprised !) .. I find these clouds beautiful .. as if they were truly created by the "sky painter" for this morning.

I leave a bit of "roof" or tree in, to give you a perspective of the sky compared to a solid, stable image. The contrast really makes the point of the soft floating colour.
The blended hues remind me of Monet's art ... so relaxing .. subtle .. easy on the eye and mind.

The sun is announcing itself with that stronger light taking over now.

I really am a gardener, I swear ! .. go back through my garden archive (drop down menu) and you will see it is true : ) Funny enough I was reminded about my own garden and the fabulous plants I do have, when I was "talking" to Teza about them and about the concept of a "black plant" garden .. he reminded me of an article in Gardening Life.

I fear that during the winter months not only does my garden hibernate .. but my memory does as well ! .. I have containers full of plant tags .. old written logs .. and this blog to remind me, but some how while staring at all of this WHITE stuff .. my plants disappear not only literally, under the snow, but from my virtual plant data in my brain .. I wonder if I can install an extra memory card in this gray matter of mine ??

I don't think we can ever get tired of watching the sky since it is everchanging. You caught very pretty moments. It's true, there are some Monet hues there...
I am afraid the time is coming when we all will be looking in different direction - down at the dirt! Have a great day!

Don't ever apologize for your beautiful sky pics -- they're as much a natural part of gardening as the soil and water are, if you think about it. And these ones are lovely -- you can even see a hint of green in those top pics.

Thank you for the link in your article. I have spent half hour every morning for the past week simply staring at the sky.... and then I drag myself from the coziness of the bed to face the day. It's a very powerful way to start the day. I am going to spend some time here browsing your blog and will be back later with questions I am sure.....

Lovely sky photos. The sky was red over my house this morning, perhaps in honour of Valentine's Day. I'm hardly posting about gardening, as there just isn't anything going on. I keep reminding myself I'm blogging for me and not to meet requirements at other sites or blogs.

Joy,

My dear...Your cloud photos are welcome and beautiful...I know you are a gardener and you are feet deep in winter snow. Something we aren't familiar with here in Nashville (you might remember we had that bit of snow and I wished for more!). LAM (laughing at myself)!!! I was temporarily out of my mind! I love your sky photos, I love seeing Dave and the Benchwarmers...Love your posts! Now did you get a bit of chocolate for Valentine's Day? gail

Hello Tatyana .. Thank you ! .. it changes so quickly at times it is amazing. I keep thinking if only that darn house wasn't on the horizon ? haha .. YES ! the good earth will soon be demanding our attention .. can't wait !

Thank you Nancy ! .. I have to say I am glued to the sky .. why I am now at this stage of the game makes me wonder what the heck was I looking at before ? this all seems so spectacular to me now : )

You are welcome Teza .. it seems strange using that name now that I know more about it : ) I find myself suddenly wondering if the sunrise is going to be special when I wake up .. so I hurry things along to get to the deck door to look .. night time I check for the moon .. perhaps when I'm exhausted from working in the garden all day it might quash those urges a bit ? haha

Darlene ! .. I mean so many times to get over to your blog and enjoy your posts and yet again missed out .. I'm going there now girl !!

You are absolutely right Linda .. I have to remember that too ! but don't forget to keep me in the loop about the camera .. and I'll let you know if I find anything out here too girl !
Yes .. red morning for Valentine !

Hi Gail ... are you still in sugar shock from your chocolate ? We had a birthday cheesecake for hubby .. Greek lunch yesterday .. Ouzo candies (I'm a sucker for .. pun .. haha) and hubby bought me a cute tiny MP3 player that can play for 16 hours worth of music .. now I have to download some great music !! : )

Well, when you have no color to photograph or contemplate on the earth, then of course you would look in the other direction and photograph the sky. Joy, when does the snow stop? Do many people go off the deep end due to the endless amounts of that white stuff I so rarely see?

I never get tired of pictures of the sky, clouds, sunrises and sunsets. Each one is different. Some just give you that lift you need for that day.

Brenda .. it really is one of those years I think I will go off the deep end. A lot of years we don't get heavy snowfall until January .. but this white stuff started EARLY and is dragging on forever .. I truly think I am going to go stark raving MAD !!

Hi Lona .. the sky has me .. I don't know what I was doing with my life before but now I am totally sky driven .. it ranges from subtle to darn right scary at times and I'm snapping away : )

You know I love the skies too, and I'm sorry that winter is lasting so long! Soon, your flowers will return, and you will remember them all.

I am a sky lover, and I am nowhere near tired of seeing the beautiful shots that you are sharing. Since we can see so little of the sky from our place, it is nice to see it captured on a blog.

Keep em coming.

Yup, Monet popped into my mind. I think I'll go grab some nice Jasmine tea now (my new favorite, when I can't have coffee!) and have another go around!

Hi Robin .. Thank you girl ! .. When the snow finally goes, there is a lot of work to be done before I even think of flowers, but I'll hang on to that thought : )

Hi Jen .. I am lucky to see what sky I see : ) .. we are actually on a higher area than most of Kingston (but it would be lovely to have a natural horizon .. not houses .. to shoot from. Still, I do get some nice ones : )

Debbie ! Happy V Day girl : ) Eventually it has to happen .. I'm just sick of the white stuff : (

Hi Tessa ... Yup ! Monet and Van Gogh are my favorites .. to think they were actual friends and have such different techniques .. odd eh ? I have a load of different teas .. but two types I like from Celestial Seasonings have disappeared .. damn !!!

it's kind of tough to put together garden posts this time of year.

Big sky beats a big sigh

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi MT .. yes ! I don't know what I was looking at before these past two years but now I LOOK much more intently and more often than I ever had : )

Dear Mr. WiseA** .. are you implying my BIG sighs are unworthy of being posted sir ???? LOL

WiseAcre said...

Not at all - I sigh with you.

Still it's better to look at the sky and find something beautiful rather than looking at the snow covered garden and letting out a disappointed breath.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

My aren't you philosophical Dear Mr. WiseA** ! .. yes .. that is true .. but I am seeing more of the lawn and garden .. eventually things have to change in our favor, right ?

When my daughter was little, we'd imagine that each day, another artists would paint the clouds in the sky. Sometimes, it was a really amateur job: thick puffy white blobs. Other times, it was clearly done by an expert. One of the more experienced and talented cloud-painters did your sky.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hello there WS !
I like that scenario so much : ) Having a sky painter who is more experienced with smudgy clouds compared to very distinct outlines clouds .. colour variation etc ..
The painters had to be in just the right mood to get the job done perfectly ! Big SMILE !
