Orange .. purple ... green .. Garden Glory ?

I am dead tired ... so if this post makes even less sense than usual that is why ?
I dedicated this morning , from 7:30 to 1PM to working in the garden and every muscle is screaming from the marathon ... and it was another overcast day (which was actually better for me as a gardener but not a photographer) .. plant colours are wishy washy but I decided no matter what excuse I was going to do a garden post !
Orange Velvet climbing rose .. I thought I had lost it .. but here it is amid the cone flowers having a burst of ego with its beauty .. the cone flowers are so jealous since they haven't bloomed yet ?
Dill ... Butterfly Weed and Munstead ? I think is the lavender here .. such a vivid blue/purple : )

Flower structures absolute amaze me .. heck, all flowers amaze me no matter their structure !
This is one BIG baby working on its petals .. I think it is "Virgin" echinacea .. a big beautiful white coneflower : )
Filipendula rubra 'Venusta" .. a beautiful Meadowsweet that keeps the show going between flowers .. my poor lilies have been abused by that blanking lily beetle .. Casa Blanca is sharing space with Venusta .. I'm hoping for some gorgeous white flowers in spite of that BUG !
Tiny pick pearls explode into a froth for the bloom.
My different planting for the step ... I usually do Kong Coleus, but ventured further into a few different varieties this time ... it is scary not using the well trodden path ?
Finally an update of the shared space between my neighbor and I ... Sweet Autumn clematis is really filling in .. the ostrich ferns are happy .. the root Halycon hostas are trying their best .. a few other bits and pieces picking up some slack ... it should be pretty in another month or so.
I did do a garden BLOOPER .. while on a tidy up mission with dead foliage, I managed to cut one of the vines on the left .. either Henrii or Niobe is going to look very sad .. I hate it when you do something that stupid ??

Everything looks so beautiful. All the screaming muscles are worth it. I do sometimes wonder why we garden so hard....and then, when I have the scent of a sweet pea wafting across the patio, I know the answer.

Looking beautiful!!! You worked hard today! Hope you feel o.k. tomorrow! I have cut things accidentally too. I hate when I do that and wish I could fix it but of course its a done deal. It will grow back(-:

I had looked for several years for a source for Queen of the Prairie and here I find two bloggers in one week that grow it! Love this blogging thing. I finally found some this spring at a local Mennonite nursery. Wasn't looking for it, but there it was. I hope mine self seeds a bit too. I do dumb things in the garden all the time. Mostly I plant things in the wrong spot then have to move them. Hate that part so I'm getting better about initially planting now. Your clematis will recover, that's the good thing.

Hi Jen .. thank you girl ! I think you are right .. we are so geared to jump back at it with the slightest pleasure the garden gives us ..it has to be in our genes or a previous life ? LOL
I was out there at 6:30 taking more pictures because it is so beautiful .. quiet .. the sun is shining .. just perfect : )

Carrie, you are sweet ! thank you : ) the shared space will fill in more and more and I see it in my mind's eye of how pretty it will be ! Yes .. I still have screaming muscles this morning .. but it will get better eventually ? LOL

Thanks knittnkitten : ) I love that glass wall you guys have .. it is beautiful !

Thanks Cindee girl : ) .. it happened right off the bat when I started working so it really needled me all that time .. I know you are right about it growing back but I fell like a "garden dummy" ? LOL

Tina, that happens to me a lot .. I want something really bad .. sort of give up on it .. then BANG ! I find it when I wasn't looking for it : ) I have had this one for quite a few years .. it hasn't self seeded yet but it is in a little crowded area so that might be the hinderance ?
I still plant something in the wrong place here and there .. don't we all wish plants had wheels ? I have to shift them now because it is becoming more of a shade garden with the trees maturing .. but that is fine with me : )

Hi Joy, I love your combinations, especially the lavender and butterfly weed, what a glorious mix! Orange Velvet is a brilliant color, in all senses of the term too. And a big WOW to the coleus, it is good to leave the trodden path sometimes. :-)

Hi Frances ... I think you are right about leaving the trodden path some times .. even though it is hard to give up a security blanket ? haha .. Yes : ) the butterfly weed with Munstead lavender is a favorite combo of mine : )

Hi Linda .. I'm hoping for it all to grow in nicely with the shared pathway .. I love astilbe and try to put it everywhere possible ! LOL

All those overcast & rainy days has made your garden lush Joy! You've done a wonderful job with that shared area, hope your neighbor enjoys it too. :)

Racquel ... I can't wait for it to grow in more .. all of theose root hosta are so small right now you can't really see them .. so when they do fill in with the hosta and the lamium, creeping gold Jenny .. well you shouldn't see any ground at all : ) This has been fun to do !

Ahh, sorry about the clematis:-( I just did a similar thing w/one of mine, and it's a goner for this year. Oh well, in time it will grow back, next year maybe fuller than before. You're shared space really is looking lush!

Hi Jan girl ... glad to have company when it comes to garden "OOPS!" .. doesn't that just drive you nuts when something like that happens ? .. you are right about looking at it as a stronger , fuller vine for next year ! Thanks : )
