August's Last Heart Stopping Clouds

Well .. I seem to be falling behind in everything, lately even more so.
My plant babies are sitting in the back garden looking at me with those questioning plant eyes "Why haven't you tucked us into our beds yet ?" .. I keep promising that I will get to you little ones as soon as possible .. as soon as I feel a bit brighter .. so please hang on for me ?
(you can click on each picture to enlarge them)
I have been preoccupied with sky pictures I have taken .. I am head over heels in love with the sky as it is .. but there were such amazing clouds these last few days of August .. I was totally smitten.

When I saw this bottom picture I thought for some insane reason I had gotten ink on my lens .. but these are actual birds I shot in the picture .. the lighting was just right to show off mysterious black images ?

The sun rise and mix of clouds almost stopped my heart .. I kid you not.

I feel such intense emotions when the conditions are so dramatic (to me) .. I want to capture everything I see.

I also want to illustrate the whole picture with the closeup shots I find inside the clouds .. I leave tips of trees .. parts of roofs .. and long shots so you can see for yourself what I see in the sky as a whole ?

I'm sure the neighbors in the houses I use as a mark point .. well I'm sure they think I am totally insane on the deck in the wee hours of the morning shooting away .. but hey .. I can live with that for these pictures.

See how the sun reflects ?

The clear pure patches of blue are beautiful as a foil against the smokey smudged clouds.

Then in the middle of the smudged clouds that aura of illuminated light ... so beautiful !

Can you see where this came from ?

The soft soft smudges of light in behind the clouds are amazing .. were amazing to see I should say ? .. it was so quiet that morning .. it was like having a meditation moment .. cool and soothing.

I call this an "innocent sky" pure blue with white wafting clouds.

This last one reminded me of the Netherlands .. we lived there for four years and having seen so many Dutch paintings .. this sky is remarkably like the ones illustrated in the cold gray winter sky of Holland .. but beautiful all the same .. the small bird flying out from the clouds near the bottom, is a wonderful touch to it all.

That morning was one of my most favorite : )

All the shots are fabulous. Living in downtown Toronto, I very rarely see much of the sky, so thank you for seeing it through your eyes.

Majestic is the word that comes to mind when I see those clouds! Perfect timing on catching those wonderful birds! (Your note is in my Drafts folder in email -- I swear I haven't forgotten, just so many distractions lately. Geez, you'd think I had a life or something...and I don't! Hee.)

Hi Deborah : )You are most welcome girl ! I'm sorry people in the city or areas that they can't get a perspective of either a sunrise or a sun set(that one I can't) .. it does something for your soul I swear .. brings an appreciation of what "quiet beauty" really is ? : )

Nancy girl .. how do I know exactly what you mean about that business about having a busy life when you aren't really supposed to at all ? Take your time girl .. I have a story about how things are going here with my "stuff" .. I'm learning not to despeckle pictures after seeing a few here now .. too smooth .. they needed more definition .. DUH !!

Tina girl it is a rather spooky shot isn't it ? I keep thinking I should have attached a Poe quote with it ? LOL

Thank you Cindee girl .. it was the most amazing morning I have had in a very long time .. I'm just glad I was awake and capable of holding the camera ? haha

Grace .. the older I get the more I seem NOT to really care any more about what the neighbor's think ? hehehe

Hi Racquel .. for having none in so long, August picked up its socks then for sure : ) OK girl .. I'll take a peek ?

Your sky/cloud photos have me looking more at my sky/clouds but, so far, I've not produced any great photos. I won't give up though. Your mention of the Netherlands makes me think of Dagmar's blog. Have you ever visited http://www.barefootinheaven.blogspot.com (sorry I don't know how to include a direct link in this comment). Anyway, she lives in the Netherlands and is a great photographer and blogger. Tell her I sent you.

Wonderful photos Joy. I love looking at the clouds and how the light plays against them. Thought of you last night as I let the dogs out for the eighteen millionth time and the moon was shining through the trees...wow! My camera doesn't capture night shots very well, but in my mind's eye....it was a great picture.

Thank you Donna and I know you sent the right address to my other post so I will certainly have a look at that blog ! thanks for telling me girl : )
Don't give up on taking cloud pictures .. you will nail it : )

Janet .. I absolutely love the big moon at night but I have not figured out how to take a good detailed picture either .. I know I have to put the camera on my tripod and set the shutter for a much slower speed .. all of it seems like a lot of work but I might just get there in the end .. i see that moon in my mind s eye too girl and it is BEAUTIFUL !!

2009 was a great summer for clouds, I found -- compensation for all that rain. Love the bird shot. Eerie. Almost like it was done with special effects.

Those are some great summer skies, glad you got to see them. Sunsets are lacking here this summer, sorry. They are either totally obscured by clouds, or the sun goes straight down without a whimper or a colorful cloud to "highlight" it. Boring!

Hi Helen girl : )
YES ! Some clouds were really awesome (over use of that word drives me crazy .. but in this case it holds TRUE !) .. I am learning with editing that despeckling (noise reduction) can take some of the sharpness out that I should leave in .. this is all trial and error for me with digital photography .. so I find (after the fact of course) some of the pictures a little too soft .. but YES ! the birds were SPOOKY eh ? LOL

Robin girl .. It is the same situation here with sunrises .. if there isn't a bit of cloud hanging around the sun just pops up with no show .. some day we should do a joint post, a collection of our best sunrise and sunset pictures ? now that would be a WOW factor post ? ! : )

Thanks Sue ! I actually have tried to start 2 blogs with just sky/cloud pictures but I haven't gotten very far .. maybe over the winter I might just get one up and running ?
