Winthrop's Woes

Dave and the boys .. well, their language about this morning's dump of snow is some what more .. shall we say "colourful" ? and shouldn't be published for innocent eyes to fall upon ? ;-)Posted by Picasa

Poor Winthrop!!! Just as our 2 feet of snow are finally shrinking, we're predicted to get walloped by God-knows-what tomorrow and Friday. I'm sure the birds, squirrels, outdoor cats, and 'possum---not to mention the chickens---are wondering, like Winthrop, "Will this EVER end?!!"

I do believe I was grumbling those same unmentionable words! :)

Rebecca @ In The Garden said...

Wow, that is distressing. Do you think they would like a chance to warm up indoors?

Gail said...

Enough is enough...I agree with Dave and the boys~was their language upsetting to Winthrop...He seems a sensitive soul;) gail

It sure looks pretty though(-: (evil smile)

Whew, good thing I'm not innocent! I can imagine what they said, being a fellow potty mouth :D

Hurry. Up. Spring! :D

Maybe Winthrop and the boys should be brought in to gaze out a window at the inclement weather. They would feel so grateful to have a warm place to sit no doubt.

We got it yesterday, melting today. My language was colourful as well!!!

Well, I'm with Dave and the boys, Joy. I've had enough of winter, thank you very much. It's time for it to step aside and let spring take over. And we're supposed to get more of this white stuff again tomorrow...and the next day...? Sigh... I'm just going to have to spend some money at Costco on Friday to make myself feel better. For therapeutic reasons, of course.

Hey Elly girl : ) Again with the dump this morning .. no pretty sunrise of any kind .. I am getting rather blue about it all .. logically I know it has to end some time right ? LOL

Kate girl .. I think there should be a "Snow Moan" club formed so we can just get it over with grumbling those BLUE words .. it would be therapeutic .. right ? haha

Rebecca .. girl once a gargoyle and gnome goes outdoors it is rather permanent for them .. rule #183 in the garden gnome/gargoyle handbook .. I could be fined if I break it ! ;-)

Gail that is so sweet to think of Winthrop .. he is used to their colorful language but when it gets to be too much .. well , I have seen him put his fingers in his ears ? LOL

Cindee ! I'm smacking your fingers with a long ruler for that girl .. hum ? maybe I should mail you some snow ?? hehehehe

Kyna .. I have been known .. to go on a verbal "tear" myself .. I blame it on menopause actually .. I get to blame a lot on that on-coming condition .. there has to be a good side to it some time right ?? LOL

Lisa girl .. the boys are so close to the good weather they need to feel it when it finally happens .. sort of a ritual thing .. they have to feel the very nano-second it breaks !

Deborah we get what you get just a little later ? haha .. and yest AGAIN this morning and fore casted for more for a few more days .. ugh !!

Martha I so totally agree with you girl .. it is time for some BIG retail therapy and once we get in there, since there are NO windows we can pretend it is SPRING out there !!!!!! haha

It's snowing here today, but I don't think it will accumulate. Right now, it's a dusting.

Enough of this winter stuff! Let's get on with spring! Surely, it will come early and our suffering.

Cheers,
Freda

Ahh, well if it's a rule, then ther isn't much that can be done. I will have to find such a handbook before bringing home the perfect gargoyle. Thanks for the tip. ;)

Carrie said...

Hahaha don't blame them for their colourful language, poor things, maybe you should light them a little tiny camp fire to huddle round ;)

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi there Freda girl .. we have actual "SLUSH" falling from the sky and more to come yet .. I am so sick of this weather and cabin fever is roaring .. I am beginning to wonder if this will ever end too !! aarrgghhh !!

Rebecca .. finding just the right gargoyle is more detailed than most would think .. especially gardeners who have not gone the way of the "Gargoyle Adoption" route .. take your time girl .. you will know when it is the right fit ! LOL

Carrie girl .. talk about a little camp fire .. I am determined to have one myself especially for the roasting of marshmallows .. I am in dire need of some ! : )

DGG hello there ;-) .. he is very stoic .. and takes his job so seriously .. I know he is ready to crack soon though .. this weather sucks !

I always pop by here to remind myself not to whine about our cold weather (although I just heard we had our coldest winter in 30 years here) because at least we don't have the snow factor either (well, except those 2 times this fall... by the way, i posted new snow pictures on my site). I need to stop fussing that I have to still wear a jacket when you poor folks up north are still in boots and shoveling. Poor Winthrop...(i am still tickled by the name as it's the same as where i work! ha ha)...i can only imagine what he gets to thinking this time of year. BE STRONG MY FRIEND!!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi there Linda .. it is so miserable outside I just can't stand it .. I'm going to bed so I can't look out the deck door or windows .. although I have to say it isn't PITCH BLACK out there and it is 6PM !!! .. is that sad or what ? .. so who has the name Winthrop over there ???
More "slush" is due to fall tomorrow and the next day .. UGH !

Oh this is terrible. Maybe I can send you some pictures of the daffy's blooming. Will that help?

I know, what kind of friend....

Hi while you are still in your hibernation mode, i am gladly inviting you to visit my summer photos, which we have all year round because we dont have snow. I really wonder how it feels like when that season occurs to us where snow is alien. My few trips to temperate countries coincided with spring so i saw snow only in snow parks, hehe, or those already melting. We have endless summers!

Northern Beauty Seeker said...

Now I know where our winter went - holidaying in Ontario! :-)

AND you have slush falling from the sky....sorry don't mean to laugh!! ;-) (this is the first time ever Alberta has been milder than *anywhere* in February - I have to go with it!)

Love your gargoyle!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Jen girl .. do I have to go over there and cuff your ear for you !!!
We have another dump of wet heavy snow (not even the kind you want to take a picture of .. wwaahhh !)
AND ... more to come .. cabin fever is at a high but at least I am getting out with a girlfriend for some girlie shopping , otherwise widely known as "retail therapy" !!!! ;-)

Andrea of the endless summers .. what can I say ? I'm Canadian EH ! so snow is part of our character .. but it goes on too long .. and we get a bit crazy ? .. my favorite is Autumn .. I live for that season .. but as a gardener Spring and Summer are peak periods so I go with the flow of nature ? ;-)

Ms S .. I say I would go with it too girl ! haha .. I can't fault you for celebrating the warmth you have .. Ontario is one FICKLE province for weather .. and we are just one small section of it near the Great Lakes ..it can turn on a dime .. and boy .. I wish it would TURN to the Spring setting SOON !!!

Hello Stone Art ! Thank you very much : ) and Winthrop loves having fans : )

It's all right - the weather listens. I said the same - when is it ever going to end - ten days ago, and suddenly the temperature shot up and we are almost, almost in spring.

Oh but - it couldn't be that the snow just got so fed up with my grumbling that it moved over to you - could it???

Poor little gargoyle, spring will come someday. I'm sorry you were dumped on. Today the sprinkler guy came buy and promised to put in my new lines on Monday. Yeah, the plan is moving forward. Maybe the new curbing will get poured next week and the flagstone path built . . . but I still can't decide on which color of shutters and which light fixtures for the garage. Wish me luck :-)

The University I work for is "Winthrop University" lol But I still have yet to see any gargoyles on campus. :)

Add hot chocolate and cookies, it will all get better!

Sue girl .. yesterday (the 26th) the sun came out .. it was almost warm .. the snow was melting .. all was right with the world : ) .. THEN ... this morning another white dump with near slush/big snow flakes falling AGAIN .. now how fair is that I ask you ? I still picture that balcony pot planting and how gorgeous those colours you had brightening your place .. ahhh !!

VW girl .. your place is going to look awesome !!! I keep building on my design (in my mind for now .. although I have a contractor lined up .. his company did our deck and he has an eye for detail and a drive to make the customer HAPPY : ) .. but how exciting is it to see projects move forward ? Decisions are tough but sometimes the first choice is the best ? go with your "gut" girl ? LOL

Linda !! I had no idea that was the actual name to the university ! My god that is a HOOT ! They obviously NEED a gargoyle as a mascot .. maybe I should send one down there ?? LOL

Cat girl .. your suggestion is perfect for today .. we are in the middle of another DUMP of the white stuff .. I am loosing my nerve and cabin fever is roaring ?? LOL

The picture says it all, Joy:) The hardships poor Winthrop and the boys must go through every winter. They must be envious of Sophie and Emma who look they had so much more fun inside checking out your new sprout maker. Congratulations on finding a Canadian-made product! I have the same feeling--it's hard to find anything made in the U.S. these days.

Hello gittan .. I think I have still forgotten the heuchera list haven't I ? .. my god I am sorry .. my brain is totally fried lately .. I have to make myself get things done !! I think it is because of the weather .. and that I am menopausal .. and , well .. feather brained or is that bird-brained ? LOL

Rose girl .. isn't that so true ? I guess most of our goods are exported BUT .. we would actually like some of our own products right ? I guess we have to raise a STINK about it all ? LOL
Yes !! the sprouter is like a science project .. kind of fascinating .. the boys (the human ones : ) check it out all the time too .. they GROW every day !!
Roll on SPRING !!
