Garden Reno Part 3 Year 2 Phase 1

Back to the "future" again with the wooden ties .. as borders and beds and .. well, you know what I am talking about .. beautiful new deck from last year meets .. hum .. "Bad Betty Bedhead" ?
Seriously in decline with chewing gum and bobby-pins holding it together ?
Just plain scary .. turn the page ... I mean scroll down ... QUICK !!
OK .. phew ! .. the "stone man Millar" goes to town ... OK .. gets -a-working !
You do NOT want to drop one of these babies on your foot ....
So .. do you see the problem I am faced with yet ?
Besides all of the "other" brick/stones of a smaller nature that will be used on this side bed to shore up the day lily kids that are loosing their footings ... another whole story ...
In any case .. the "wrap around bed" is a very nice touch .. are you with me on the problem yet ?
view from this side now ...
The beautiful job ! .. but next year I have to dig out my plants in the Spring and lower the level of soil to meet evenly on all sides .. not a huge deal .. but another twist to the over all plot : )
Again with the soothing well designed curves and tilt so said bricks will drain properly .. phew !
A very happy gardener still dreaming of the "other" phases to accomplish .. meanwhile back at the farm .. Lassie is barking out Morse code for "lets hunt PLANTS !!"

Wow, you certainly have been busy moving stones/bricks. I could do with any leftovers here please :) But I have a feeling you are going to find use for all of them. The gardens are shaping up very nicely. It sure was chilly, chilly, windy today but I did manage to takcle some of those weeds in the garden. Now, it's soak in the tub time!

It's absolutely beautiful, Joy -- what a great addition to the new deck!

The new paving is looking good. It gives the beds a nicely finished look, and will tie in with the patio. What a lot of work, though. Do you end up with more planting area?:)

Linda .. if you are serious we DO have a lot of left over bricks about 40 ? maybe not enough for you to do what you are thinking of ? but hey .. they are here if you do want them !
There was a heavy frost last night .. and boy .. even in my little greenhouse on the deck .. I think my coleus was ZAPPED ! LOL

Hello there Ms. S : ) YES ! our man Millar has done so many landscaping jobs he spots curves all the time and enhances them ? LOL

Hi Nancy girl ! Thank you !
Things are working out nicely .. one more year (because of budget constraints it is a 3 year project)and it will be almost done .. fini ! LOL

Hey there Lisa girl ! I couldn't resist the Tim's .. it is a Canadian thing eh ? LOL .. I had no idea the bricking was turning into "stoning" haha .. I gave Millar free hand with that one and wow .. it is solid ! ;-)

Thanks NS ! .. it was a more "massive" project than we knew would happen .. the patio was changed in mid air thinking because it was older and a bit of a mess .. YES ! I have a few more spaces to fill : )
I haven't made my mind up about the new plants yet .. but I'm making notes with the new areas available now .. and it is fun : )

Hi again Rebecca, thank you girl : ) .. yes .. the curves do soften the BIG stones .. and once the plants really fill in it will soften that too : )

Wow, just wow! I love the job Millar has done. I'm especially impressed by the way it all tilts so there's good drainage. This man really knows his stuff. And I was very focused until I spotted the bulb circle; I am in love! It's gorgeous. I will definitely build one this year.

Anyway, it's just gorgeous! This man is every gardening woman's best friend!

I have never seen such a neat construction site! Is the feng shui your idea or your builder? Your yard is lovely.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

LOL Martha ! hey I planted that bulb circle and I am way too impressed by it as well ! haha
It is going to be tough waiting patiently for the leaves to die back and charge the bulbs again .. but I will have to bite the bullet and let nature take its course !
Millar knows he is good too : ) and he knows I will spread the word for him as well ;-)

Sandy girl thank you : ) It is only in it's second year with quite a few raw points to be smoothed out yet .. but I am very happy with how things are turning out and yes I really hope to have a soothing atmosphere to it all !
