Caterpillar ID Please?

This little caterpillar was on my fennel this morning .. not a great picture because I was rushed .. but if anyone can tell me what sort of guest this is ? I would appreciate it !
PS .. I just went out to check on him and he is another heart breaker like my Curly Joe was .. I can't find him now ;-(

It looks like the first instar of a Blackswallowtail Butterfly. I hope you let them eat your fennel and grow up to beautify the planet. Birds love to gobble them up. They have a hard time. They will grow up to be some beautiful caterpillars.

Lisa girl I have grown dill and fennel and parsley, all of what butterflies love for years and haven't seen the full stages yet .. I had one a couple of years ago on my parsley but Curly Joe just disappeared on me .. I have no problem with them eating anything ! I am so excited to have any "butterfly in the making" I do the Happy Dance !

I agree with Lisa, it looks like the Black Swallowtail caterpillar to me too. :) Congrats, maybe you'll get to watch the whole evolution stage until it turns into a beautiful butterfly.

Thanks Racquel girl : ) It seems to go back into the plant during the day and comes out early moment .. it is tiny really and I didn't notice it for a long time .. I would love to see the whole process !!!

Kyna girl I was just so excited to see it .. I have grown loads of herbs each year waiting to see things like this happen : )

Cindee : ) I have to do some searching myself because this has been a year when I have seen more butterflies and it has been wonderful !!! .. hey .. you aren't working yourself into the ground again are you ? ;-)

Joy, I think swallowtail too! I saw one of the butterflies this afternoon. I planted dill just for a host plant, but it is still kind of small. And the milkweed is ready for the monarchs when they come!
