Oddities ... just a few

I don't know why or how these portulaca plants put up with where I cram them .. but they do, and they look amazing to me : )
They made friends with my Hens'Chicks that survived the winter in this non- draining, terrible place to shove a poor plant in, ceramic pot .. go figure ? Now how amazing are its flowers ?
Well .. we watch the progress of these butterfly-in-the-making caterpillers while they munch on the fennel and dill .. I stressed out today with the rain and wind they went through lately but most of them hung on tight .. phew !!!

Just a few oddities from the garden .. ;-) there are so many it is hard to choose ?

Those portulacas are tough and beautiful. There is a place in Toronto, where they seed into a crack in the sidewalk, and grow and flower every year. You couldn't get it to do that if you tried!

Deborah : ) .. that actually happened to me here with the old brick patio .. I had a table there and had plants in containers on the table but by god didn't some of the porties seed into the cracks and we had two years of them blooming there ! it was amazing : )

I think a lot of us forget portulaca Cindee .. they have been around a long time and they do get over looked .. but I seem to need them almost every year ? LOL

Portulaca is another plant that says HOME to me. My mom had it all over the rock retaining walls at our house in the country.
