Flashing some garden plants ..

JP Connell rose has been such a wonderful surprise mid garden season .. I have missed so many opportunities even now these past 3 weeks since my garden folly adventure .. but from the last shots I got of it .. I totally recommend it for any garden .. it is demure yet total eye candy !
Tiger Eye Sumac .. Pinot Gris heuchera and iris foliage with a bit of some ornamental grass far left .. the colours aren't really coming through as I had seen them on that day .. it is a little scenario I love looking at by our water barrel ..
I'm not one for heuchera flowers really ... I generally cut them off and show case the foliage .. but these little guys were tinkling all over the place so I had to leave them alone !
Love Love Love Colour Flash in red .. the flowers are pretty and the foliage is gorgeous .. I have to get more of these babies !
I also love this very well behaved goldenrod .. for which I have to find out .. which one the heck it is !! eeeekkkk ! .. it would be a plant I really like that I can't find the tag for right ??
If you saw this in person you would laugh .. things just got so out of hand for me when I crashed .. I didn't keep up with training the clematis and the ornamental kiwi vine over this arbor gate .. so a monster was born .. rather fitting for Halloween but I have an enormous job ahead of me FIXING this problem next year !
Now for some fun .. this card seemed to scream a touch of the blarney .. almost a St. Paddy's Day/Halloween combination don't you think ?
This is just a cutesy simple little card which looks hand drawn to me .. gotta' love that right ?
OK .. now we are TALKING "hand drawn" here .. but it made me laugh about the pie and Thanksgiving .. you have to have a smirk out of it to !
That is too darn CUTE !!

I like your flash, Joy! Nice picks. I like the rose so much...it looks like an old fashioned rose. Lovely! Actually, all of your choices are really very nice...and unexpected. I love the goldenrod.
Your love for Halloween is precious! You must be getting giddy...it's getting closer and closer!

Hello Kimberly girl ! Thank you : )
I have been very surprised by this rose too .. normally I would not go with yellow but this is such a beautiful soft understated yellow !
I get myself so excited over Halloween .. by the time it comes .. I am totally exhausted ! LOL

That is a beautiful rose Joy. I must see if it will live in my zone 5.

Joy, lovely post. Does your Tiger Eye Sumac produce lots of sucker? I would love one but it does concern me, I am considering Sambucus racemosa 'Sutherland Gold' instead but it doesn't have the lovely autumn colours. I want to keep the shrub I choice hard pruned each year, which may encourage the sumac to sucker more.

Best wishes Sylvia (England)

Your garden path looks so inviting. The wild looking arch is great. It doesn't look to need any fixing to me. That golden rod is just waiting for an opportunity that you decide to look the other way for a few summers. It will then be established. Those tinkling bells are spectacular. Usually you can't even see the bells let alone hear them tinkling.

Joy, You are a hoot! I gather you are a real Halloween buff! I can hardly wait to see what you do on the actual day. Though I will slowly go through September first for H. is too close to winters freeze for me. Your rose is absolutely lovely and the portraits from your garden are too. ;>))

Hi Joy! I love the JP Connell rose. It is so subtle and fades to a delicious cream. Great photos. :) Your description of the heauchera bells "tinkling" is perfect. The flowers on my "Plum Royale" are almost white and I love the way they move in the breeze. btw, love the halloween cards! :)

Eileen it really has won me over .. it was a substitute for another plant from a mail order company "Vesey" .. and YES ! I am 5b so I am sure you are fine .. or I will tell you if it fails next Spring ? wink wink

Hello Sylvia : ) thank you !
I have not found suckering a problem with Tiger Eye so far (the worst is my Stag Horn .. they pop up every where but I love it so much I just pluck them out)
I have Sutherland Gold but it needs more light to show off its "gold" .. I do have a suggestion for you .. I found a new one which I just planted this year so I don't know how it will perform but I have an idea it would do well for you Sambucus Morden Golden Glow "Golden Glow Elderberry" beautiful cutleaf .. maybe it might be the one you would like ? Tiger Eye is doing well without suckering so it is one for Fall colour for sure !

Lisa girl .. you are BAD !! My goldenrod has been there a few years (not sure if it is Fireworks or Crown of Rays) but it BEHAVES!! LOL .. tinkling bells keep ringing in my garden for some reason ? giggle snort .. must be the "madwoman" garden in me going nuts from not being able to GARDEN !!LOL

Carol girl, thank you ! .. the horrible truth is I wear myself out by the time the BIG night comes .. I crawl into bed and watch old black and white monster movies .. have the cats with me .. popcorn ..chocolate and poor husband mans the treat door .. I'm so glad to get that off my chest now !! hehehe .. don't worry I won't rush you .. I'll just drive you nuts with Halloween things ?

Ms S ! how are you : ) thank you !
This rose surprised me .. it is only the first year but it looks wonderful and doesn't scream yellow or "look at me" it enhances the other plants so it is perfect : )
Yes ! I love the tinkly bells they are also perfect for the big kid in me .. cards keep coming girl ! LOL

Jen, thanks girl ! we are going to have one more heat wave .. in the 30's and i don't look forward to that so i will be hiding in the house of course .. mulling over Halloween cards ?? LOL

Thank you, it doesn't look as though Sambucus Golden Glow is available here but I will look out for it. It is like the astilbe we can only get a generic Colour Flash not the different colours you have - yet, I am sure they will arrive soon.

Best wishes Sylvia (England)

Sylvia I know it must be so frustrating not to be able to get the plants you are fascinated by .. it happens here too but I have good mail order companies if I must have a plant ? LOL .. I do have to say the best Autumn colour comes from both the naughty Stag Horn sumac but certainly with Tiger Eye .. and .. I am very sure Tiger Eye behaves .. I haven't found suckers from it yet !
Good luck with the plant hunting !
