Shadow Shooting Day

If I had taken this picture a little earlier .. there would have been a wee bit of snow to see. This is one of my oldest pieces of "garden art" .. I love it to bits !
We had a "snow moment" but it disappeared as fast as it blew in .. It is mother nature's way of teasing us .. she is coming, no doubt about that ... A hard and very cold gal called WINTER .. she will have her way with us and there is no escaping .
As for shadow opportunity .. it is getting a little more difficult .. I'm going to have to really stretch my imagination the next few months .. that could be scary for all of us ?
Mean while back at the farm .. a gal called Tracy is in full throttle with her gathering of Shadow Shooters over at Hey Harriet .. so make sure to pop in and have a look at all the very creative people who shoot ... shadows ... for fun : )

That is a lovely piece of garden art Joy. Do you leave it outside all winter? Yes, Mother Nature came calling this morning for about 45 minutes. We had to go out shortly afterwards and the roads were very, very slippery. But an hour or so later, it was all gone. But that first taste of winter was there today, a reminder of what is to come. Keep smiling.

Oh what beautiful lighting and shadows on your sculptural garden art. The changing of the seasons sounds exciting in your corner of the world.

Sorry for the confusion, Joy. I added one that says "Kay the right link" seven people later. The wrong one was 21 and the right one is 28. Sylvia in Seattle told me about it, and I didn't know how to fix it except to add another one. Tsk.
HOWever, I'm here to say nice things about your favourite piece of garden art. I like it, and it's a lovely photo. Thanks for sharing it!

Hello there Sylvia : )
Thank you .. it was a last minute shot after the snow disappeared !

Hi Linda girl .. it is very heavy .. cement, and yes I leave it out all year to weather it a bit but it still looks new after all of these years!
We had that bit of snow too but like you said it disappeared so quickly .. yup ! more to come .. I'd rather have snow than freezing rain like they had further north .. eeekk !

Hello Diane and thank you !
yes .. we do love our different seasons here .. but it would be nice if winter was a little shorter .. especially for gardeners ? LOL

Kay we all have days like that .. fits and starts of what the heck is going on here ? LOL
Thanks .. I am still giggling over here : )

Your photos are just GORGEOUS! Here's to hoping our winter isn't too, too hard. I hate sending truck drivers over the mountains with poinsettias bound for Alberta. I worry about those poor drivers.

Joy - I just found your blog, and you have a new follower now. I love gardening and photography of plants and the sky as well (though I'm not nearly as good at it!), so I've been enjoying looking at some of your photographs.

That's a gorgeous piece! I'm looking forward to seeing what your wild and crazy imagination comes up with over the winter months! Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

I love your garden, and everything in it. The joy of coming out to catch it, I can imagine.

Tamara hello there !
I meant to leave more comments but i was trying to cover as many blogs that I could yesterday .. I don't have many days that I can do that with ? LOL
I thought your blog and pictures were great too and I love seeing another fellow Canuck's blog : )
OMG .. yes ! I would be a mother hen about those truck drivers too .. the irony for us is we LOVE poinsettias but we have two feline kids and they would LOVE them to bits too ? hehe
Thanks for stopping by : )

RPS77 ! I went to your blog and SO wanted to leave comments, but it wouldn't let me ? There may be a glitch in your set-up ?
We have so many things in common it is eerie ! truly ! .. I am a Libra .. I have worked in library science in the Netherlands .. I am touched by OCD .. and yes I too am struggling with behaving my self with healthier foods and that treadmill is waiting for me along with my yoga mat ! haha
How do I leave comments on your blog ?? Joy : )

Thank you so much Shirley and you are very welcome .. i want to pick up as many Canadian garden blogs as possible so I am "out there" finding you all ? LOL

Tracy girl .. we both may be in for a bumpy ride .. my imagination comes from AREA 51 at times ? LOL
If we are lucky ? it will be a short winter and sanity will prevail!!! hahaha

Thank you so much Becky : ) it is such a treat with those golden moments in the garden .. nothing quite like it to refresh the soul!

Hello there GT ! Thank you so much .. it was a last moment "moment"? of sorts .. shadows have been hard to catch lately .. but the hunt continues ! : )

Joy - I'm not having any trouble with the comments section, I'm not sure what the problem is. I fiddled around with the settings a little anyways, so I hope that you can post comments now. I would love to read them!

It sounds like we have more in common than our taste in photography!

We had a snow squall roar through yesterday, too. It was one of those five minute blizzards with light on each end.

I can see why you like that piece.

that's a lovely garden sculpture and wonderful shadows! It snowed here a little bit a couple of nights ago and then last night we got our first serious snow, the earliest snow in Scotland for 17 years. It's going to be a long winter

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hello Sandy girl : )
Yup ! that intense but oh so short snow squall thing is amazing to see whip in and out at "light" ? speed !
All the same it makes for an uneasy feeling just knowing what is truly going to set upon us soon ? LOL

Hello there CGP !
I am still thinking of that wonderful shot you got with the craved fish .. it was all so beautiful : )
Yes .. even small pieces have such character in the garden I find ..especially the ones that are all year residents in the garden .. now they have to be strong here ! ;-)
I have a friend in Falkirk .. if it snowed there I am sure she is thinking the very same thing too .. Spring is a long way off already !

Tre cool idea :) "Shadow Shooting" is a beautiful phrase.

RPS77 .. I am rather red faced ? here, .. for the life of my I think your blog gremlin dislikes me a LOT!
LOL .. I have tried and tried .. and even went to a post where other comments were made thinking I have to be allowed in there at least ?
But NOPE ! .. I am barred .. I wonder what I did to make it so testy ? haha
I was going to comment on the sky pictures .. they are lovely .. and I wish I had a view for sunsets .. but I only have a shot at sunrises which are gorgeous at times here !
The fence coming down and all the potential for a beautiful and interesting garden design with lots of different plants (I am more of a specimen collector because I don't have a lot of space) .. and the Christmas cactus flower admiration? I too think they are so beautiful!
But some times I seem to neglect them .. and this time of year .. well I have to "find" more to cheer my office up ;-)
I hope you can pick this up and not think I am a complete idiot about not being able to comment .. I have never had that happen to me before and of course .. it would happen now ? BIG sigh !

Joy - Don't worry - I had a similar problem once with one of the people whose blogs I follow. It let me type comments but it wouldn't save them. Somehow, I got around it, but I can't remember how. I think that it involved logging out of blogger and rebooting my computer multiple times in some obscure pattern. Clicking heels together and pixie dust might have been involved as well. Hopefully it will start working for you, but don't worry in the meantime.

Hello there SeaBlush : )Thank you !
Tracy has this great meme .. and believe me I really don't do meme but this one is tre COOL ! LOL

RPS77 (hum ... I feel like I am addressing an android with that nickname .. are you an android by any chance ? wink wink) .. it is so frustrating when what you think are simple cues .. do NOT work .. I can't even get it to cue 'up' for me, let alone type a comment .. I think my OCD is going to start clicking it's heels and the pixie dust is long gone since Halloween ..eeekk!! LOL

MMT : ) You said it PERFECTLY !!
I love it .. I might just have to adopt it, but you will certainly get the credit for creating it : )
Thank you!
