Shadow Shot Christmas

Yes it is shadow shot time even on Christmas day here in Canada .. well our end of the earth compared to Tracy's at Hey Harriet, which is really Boxing Day there ..
I wonder, do they have those crazy sales in the stores like North America does ??
I fell in love with my little dragonfly shadow, cast on the pot of my Charlie Brown Christmas tree aka Austrian Pine who has been Bonsai for many years now and hangs in no matter the neglect I might heap upon the poor thing ..
Thank you "Little-Big Pine" : )
I actually had to add a second shot which is rare for me to do ..
It was just so perfect .. the deck railing cast on the planking with its gaps in the snow and there are a few glittery ice crystals if you look closely enough !
So .. keep looking and don't forget to visit Tracy's Hey Harriet place to see all the other "Shadow Shooters" and those beautiful pictures they capture !

You second shot is really interesting and is my favorite. I like the repetition but it looks so soft and peaceful too.

I love both your photos! I don't know which one I love more! And yes we have those crazy Boxing Day sales here. The shopping centres are like battle fields...lots of pushing and shoving and even blood shed at times. Madness! What we'll do for a bargain eh!?!

I hope you've been having a super holiday season so far. Merry Christmas!

Hello there Kay : ) thank yo so much and I couldn't help but name my Charlie Brown Christmas tree that Little Big Pine thing .. like the Dustin Hoffman movie Little Big man ? LOL

Hello Donna : ) Thank you !
I just usually post one shadow shot but the two had to be seen together? .. Yes .. it seemed so peaceful especially in that afternoon light : )

Millie it is so nice to see quiet peaceful snow like that yet having a pattern to it too .. thanks for stopping by !

Winter is a beauteous season for us gardeners, a time to rest and plan our next move. I have much to do for the planting of my new Secret Garden in the spring...but that's half the fun in experiencing the new magical space...we do see the beauty everywhere, even a lowly dragonfly shadow!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday and we'll see ya next year friend!

Love that deck shot! Both very nice. I hope you've enjoyed a wonderful holiday. :) We're bracing for our first major storm here...up to 30 cms of snow along with some freezing rain and blizzard conditions. Yummy!

Hello there Sharon : )
You are so right about us needing this down time to rest up and plan our new additions to our gardens...
Ah ! a secret garden is a magical place .. I wish I had more seclusion to have one to myself as well .. I think that is why I plant so many tall grasses .. I am trying to hide in them ? LOL
I hope you are enjoying your special days too and take that time for ourselves to dream about those beautiful gardens for next year : )
The BEST of Wishes for 2011 Sharon!

Nancy girl ! Pre-Happy New Year !
You guys have been beaten down by some very rough weather and more to come ! .. in fact .. I think .. you are getting our typical weather for this time of year ! how did that happen ?? I hope you have lots of goodies in the apartment to see you through it in good cheer ? LOL
Happy 2011 to come girl !

Hello there Whimsy ! We had a nice quiet Christmas thank you ! Hope you did too ? A wee bit of snow .. we haven't been hit by any storms yet .. and the sun has sneaked out to help with a few shadow shots , phew !

Eileen girl ! Hope you are having a nice holiday with your family : )
I don't do anything special with my camera .. it is the light that you have to look for .. mine is mainly afternoon light passing to the end of my deck .. that is where the shadows show up ! LOL .. Juts look for the right light girl and you will have the right shadows : )

Hello there Heather and thank you ! Yup my snail is a special one of a kind and I love capturing shadows with that and my other weird and wacky characters, wink wink !

Rebecca girl I wish you all the best for 2011 too ! especially with your beautiful garden unfolding like it is .. I can't wait to see its progress girl !!!

Thank you Marilyn : ) Shadows bring out something hidden in us when we take their pictures, something special !
