Winter Solstice 2010 .. The "light" is coming back!

I am going through withdrawal ... no pretty sunrises .. dull gray days .. and we haven't even really started winter until today ?
Winter Solstice .. hum .. is this when the time is going to shift "light wise" that is .. in tiny almost imperceptible increments ??
Will my black mornings start to lighten up just a little bit ?
Thus the card below ... lack and white ... BIG sigh !
I took these icicle pictures last January .. I wanted to check back there and see if there was anything to wind my inner "Spring" up or at least hold on to with the thought maybe the shift will start not too long ahead now ?
Bright blue skies have a way of making you feel brighter ?
As in " A touch of blue , will DO!"
These are my "I can't believe I caught the drops !!" moments ... I think I did the Happy Dance and scared the cats ... me doing that dance is something that you just don't want to SEE ;-)
I thought it was pretty awesome ... : ) the drops that is !
They just wanted to be photographed .. that is how I explained it to myself ..
It was all about "them" and not me patiently holding the camera .. not breathing .. turning a touch of blue myself ??
.... and so ... this Winter Solstice card is for all of us ... hanging on until Spring teases our garden sense .. and that can be torture when all you want to do is get in the garden and do our thing ?
Happy Winter Solstice !!!
Yes .. I know ... we have Christmas and New Year to get under our belts YET !!

Joy, the light is returning! I think Spring turned her head in our direction for just a moment. Then she picked up her romance novel and settled back into her lounger. But now her toe is tapping and it won't be long until she googles us and checks what Old Man Winter has been up to. Pretty soon she will want to boot his butt outta her "space". You can bet on it! :)

Love the droplets!

Hang in there, blue skies are coming!

Hello there Whimsy and thank you : )
As soon as the morning starts to light up sooner .. I swear my mood does too ? haha .. So I am patiently waiting and wishing for the sun to shine earlier in the morning .. just for me ? wink wink

Ms S : ) I read your post on the beginning of your garden .. you piece of Eden and it is so exciting! .. I really want to watch the progression once we get our garden time back .. I can't wait to see what you are going to grow !
I love the imagery of Spring tapping her toe and getting ready to boot old man winter outta her space ! too cute : )

Donna that was near the end of last January when I caught them .. it was such a fluke .. right place right time sort of thing .. it will probably never happen for me again but I will be watching !

I'm with you for the long, gray days. You're not alone. I rejoiced this morning thinking that today will be a smidgeon longer than yesterday.

I like the icicle pictures. It's often dull and gray at this time of year, but I still see some very nice sunsets and other atmospheric views. Plus, of course, snow and ice can be beautiful when they aren't making life more difficult.

From now on, the days will only be getting longer!

Oh, catching those icicle drops is quite magical Joy. The feat of an accomplished photographer for sure. I'm so glad we are going to be incrementally gaining light every day now too. Worth celebrating in my book as every minute of light counts!
Have a very Merry Christmas dear Joy and stay warm!
ps I just knew you would have some spectacular moon shots of the lunar eclipse over here????

Hello RP ! Thank you : )
I was just over to your blog and saw that gorgeous sunset : ) it was wonderful ! I am jealous you get to see beautiful skies when I haven't been able to capture anything here .. it is gray on gray here .. BIG sigh !

Thank you Kathleen girl (of course that time I took them I forgot to save full format pixels to be able to print a picture from them .. jeez !) .. and talk about disappointment in not seeing that spectacular moon that was predicted !!! .. we had cloud cover .. we have had cloud cover forever it seems .. no sunrises a big fat ZERO on any pretty skies here .. SIGH !
Kathleen keep warm too and have a great holiday with the family : )

Take comfort, Joy--the days are getting longer! Beautiful icicle shots, and I love that blue sky. We have blue skies this morning, but snow is on the way.

Wishing you and your clan a very Merry Christmas! Toby and Tarzan and the crew extend holiday wishes to Sophie and Emma, too.

Merry Ho Ho ;-)

Martha I was just about to try an e-mail to you girl : ) It has been so crazy in town with traffic and last minute shoppers (they actually had a policeman direct traffic in and out of Costco ! hahaha)
Yes .. the light will be coming but first we have to get that long dull January under our belts eh !

Hi Toni and that is so true : )
We appreciate seeing those signs of life and beauty in our garden so much! .. it gives us a thrill .. I feel sorry for the people that don't notice or care about them.
Thank you so much ! I stood by the deck door and hardly breathed , (I turned a little blue myself ? LOL) Waiting for the moment to catch them and I was not sure until I down loaded to my lap top .. yup ! I was a happy camper : )
