Shadow Shot Time

I need to see some green living plants from last garden season .. I just had to reach back and grab one for today. White can get on your nerves .. believe me .. it can zap you with "cabin crazies" before you even know what is wrong .. this is the longest time of winter, knowing Spring is coming .. seeing the light earlier and later .. REALLY thinking of what you want to do in your garden ... even after suffering that disastrous garden accident I still would lug bags of river rock around if only I could .. now that is crazy isn't it ?
OK .. enough of "me" this is a delicate shadow shot of my Tiger Eye Sumac with new growth .. it is beautiful to me so I want to spread my enthusiasm ? over what "green can do for a cabin crazy gal in the GWN !!"
Now you have to gallop over to Tracy's place .. Hey Harriet .. and have a gander at those other magical shadow shooter pictures .. they will make you smile : )

Wow - I didn't even know you could get sumacs with "feathery" leaves like that.

I also like the Virginia creeper in the background - it's one of my favorite plants that straddles the line between weed and garden plant.

Shadows that fall over the snow are almost too easy to locate, as they seem to be everywhere. So to find the right shadow for our moods, we look back to find the perfect one. And you have! There is delicacy and elegance, of a perfect (and not too hot) Summer day. The soft and temperate view is a season to savor (when it ever arrives, that is :)

I'm in need of a little green as well, I want the snow gone and I want it gone now.

Have you seen the Olypmpus SP800UZ with 30x optical zoom??? I've had fun playing with one today.

All of those green growing things crammed into a single frame--oh, how luscious! O what a feast for the eyes at this time of year!

A SEEKER OF SHADOWS

A seeker of shadows one day
Asked shadows to come out and play:
“O shadows, my dears,
Despite all my fears,
I hope you will not run away.”

I join you in ranting about cabin fever. Log walls are nice, but they are so-o-o-o-o dark. We had a melt today and I hit the woods just before dark. Let's think sunny thoughts and hope the groundhog was right.

Beautiful shot, Joy! I had to enlarge so I could bask in that sunlight a little. :) We are finally enjoying a week of above freezing weather and I find myself staring at tree buds for signs of life. I must be going a little crazy...! Bring on more of that sunshine!:)

A sweet shot of greenery to reflect upon during the cold times. You have the "cabin crazies" eh? Oh no! I'd love to be a fly on the wall at your house then! Amusing I'm sure! Spring must not be too far off now, so you'll be back in your garden soon enough I hope. Lugging rocks around. Crazeeeee alright! ;)

Joy, don't even think of lugging anything! We still have so much snow it is difficult for me to imagine spring. But, we are expecting a warm up, 50 by weekend.

Hello there RP : ) This Tiger Eye starts feathery fronds then as they mature they look more like the regular leaf structure .. they are pretty though and Fall colour is gorgeous! You are so right about the "creeper" I love that it creates a "green wall" suppresses noise and adds privacy to our deck .. and talk about Autumn colour ! You have to love it! LOL

Hello there Ralph : )Thank you so much ! .. You are very right about when the sun does come out, shadows bounce off the white snow .. I NEED some green relief and I just had to post this ! : )

Hi there Joe and thank you : )
I can't wait for the garden to wake up .. to see amazing sunrises .. and to be thrilled by some very special plants to show off their wares ? LOL .. Roll on Spring !

Freda girl I have meant to get over to your place so often then got caught up with bits and pieces .. mental note to myself NOW ! ;-)

Linda I have read reviews on the SP800UZ .. and not having a view finder put me off right away .. plus some of the reviews say that the still pictures are not up to snuff .. so thankfully the temptation is not driving me nuts for once ! PHEW !!! LOL

MMT that is a nifty little ditty! Made me smile BIG time reading it!
Ahhh ! for the green relief .. it is much needed .. and next month ? well St. Paddy's Day ? another green occasion to celebrate ;-)

nellie I so hope the groundhog was right because much more of this and I will go stark raving BONKERS !!

Thank you Chub : ) I will be visiting soon !!

Thanks Bev : ) there is scary weather happening between tomorrow and Tuesday or Wednesday .. a melt with rain and then a FREEZE .. now that is a worry ! eeekkk !

Ms S thank you : ) and I stare at my trees thinking the buds are just a little bigger ? probably not but I can't help wishing them to swell just a little ? LOL .. we are going to have a warm shift then a quick freeze which will not be so great .. I hate those extreme shifts in weather !

Hey Tracy girl .. cabin fever is totally unpredictable and probably a mass event if people would only own up to it ? LOL .. a fly would have fits of laughter I am sure !
Nahhh .. no lugging of rocks ever again .. been there done THAT! OUCH!!!!

Eileen it sounds like we will be sharing the same weather .. looks a bit scary with the melt and freeze cycle .. and I do have a hard time really getting into the Spring zone too .. but I keep trying ;-)

I simply must have sumac in my garden this summer, it makes such a fanciful wall of privacy, and in the Fall, what a display...I too love the Kentucky creeper, it's growing up the side of my pink shack, to my Dad's horror, but what can it hurt the old siding that I intend to replace some day anyway...right!

Yes, I'm itching to get into the dirt too, isn't it glorious when it finally comes...soon!!!

More thawing today...YAYYYYYYYYYY!

Nice shadow shot, Joy Dear. I think the white would drive me right over the edge after awhile. I'm with you in the tropics!

Oh girl, I know how you must feel. I haven't had nearly as much white and I am with you on those feelings. So ready for spring. Maybe soon.

That better be hypothetical hauling of rocks!! ;-) Dont' worry, spring is coming! Soon it'll be Green St.Paddy's day, then Easter and the new Lowe's right??

Hey did your son give you the catalog I sent with him? I think I snuck it into his bank folder. He may not even know he has it! LOL Anyway, just something new to look at while you kill time in the cabin! :)

Miss you guys!

I needed this little bit of green, Joy! The temperatures are supposed to be much warmer here this week, so I'm hoping some of the white stuff will melt. But I doubt I'll see much real green around here for awhile yet.

Hey Sharon : ) You DO have to have Sumac girl ! There is nothing like the show they put on for Autumn .. well, yup the creeper changes to awesome shades of scarlet and orange too : ) .. I know some people think it is a weed .. but we love it for privacy and for that wonderful colour. It actually rained here yesterday and snow is melting !!!!

Lisa girl "Green + Sun" is totally good girl : ) LOL

Grace girl the white just seems to go on for ever once it settled in .. and we actually had none until after New Years .. so we were spoiled and now I complain continuously ?? haha

Debbie : ) I am SO ready for SPRING and a NON-winter landscape to look at girl .. white begins to eat your brains out after a while ?? LOL

Linda : ) Ian did take a few days to remember but finally hauled it out for me and I danced around in the kitchen ;-) I love the way they write their descriptions of plants in that catalog it makes me snort & giggle a LOT !! and YES !!! Lowes is making me so curious .. i can't wait !!!!

Hello Kay and thank you very much !
I love being a Canuck but that long white winter thing is a bit hard to handle after a while ;-)

Rose we are having that warmer spell now too .. and the rain has lowered the snow levels .. I'm sure some flooding is going to be a problem the people on lower levels .. but I will be so happy to see something other than white on the ground !

Joy, The shadow is very nice, but what I like best is seeing a garden in leaf. This has been a loooong winter, don't you think?

Rebecca @ In The Garden said...

Thanks for the taste of green, the white really is driving me batty...

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Helen it is strange that we are so white washed by now since we didn't get snow until after New Year's Eve, but we are all SICK of this now girl so fingers crossed it might be an early Spring ???

Rebecca girl .. you are very welcome! We are all "whited" out by now ;-)
The rain has helped melt some of this stuff but we have a long way to go!
