Shadow Shot Time

Can you believe it is "Shadow Shot" time again already ? Where did my week go ?
This is a very simple contrast of dark and light working together to make this pretty plant even more beautiful and slightly mysterious : ) All my plants have a light and dark side to their nature .. much like people ?
Tracy at Hey Harriet has us all looking for that division of shadows illuminated in their own way by "light" .. so you will get an eye full when visiting her links to the dark world we all notice much more since we have been adding to her collection : )

I really like the Eupatorium Chocolate this time off year. It is too bad it does not keep its very dark leaves when it blooms.

Joy, great pic! But ummm... just a bit curious. Is that an accepted garden plant in your area? Because its considered a weed here! (it really is pretty though, isn't it?)

Pretty shot! Can you help me out with the name of the plant? I've recently come across it, but am not familiar with it. Thanks.

Hello there Eileen girl and yes .. I agree with you .. as it first comes out the colour is fantastic but it loses that as it flowers out .. maybe the flowers drain that energy ?

Hello Sunita .. I went back to your blog to explain that it is a highly ornamental plant in our colder climate .. it does not multiply like crazy (or at all other than the single parent plant)
One person's weed is another person's flower ? LOL

Hello Chris .. I went back to your blog to identify Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate. You have some wonderful groupings in your garden and I love all of the grasses !

Lola girl we were doing most of the put away yesterday .. husband was very good about cleaning out the shed .. I still haven't done my job with cleaning my half BETTER ! LOL

Grace girl thank you very much .. yes .. nice and quiet just the way I like it ! : )

Chocolate snakeroot...I wondered what that beautiful bush was that volunteered longside my fence...SWEET!!!
Two more are coming up as well, that is if they made it through the drought this year...what a year, I had the weirdest crops of everything, the beans were tough and stringy, the tomatoes fruited, but never got ripe, the only thing that did well was the squash...go figure!!!

You gardens look wonderful and I'm TOTALLY enjoying these 80+ days we're having and yes, Scratchy is a Cairn AND FULL OF IT!!!

Have a great week and enjoy the Autumn, your blog looks so festive, I just can't get in the mood!

The shadows are dark, perhaps a bit cold. The brilliant white of the lovely flowers adds a warmth, overshadowing (if you will :) the shadow. The look is of Spring, and although we are now 180° from that season, it still feels like a warm and sunny day. As I hope yours is...

The white flowers certainly stand out against the shadowy background!

SHADOW PLAY

Shadows like horses, shadow likes chicks,
Shadows like houses built with red bricks;

Shadows much taller than a high wall—
No matter their shape, I love them all!

Thanks Lisa girl and yes .. I have a feeling this month is going to fly right by without me really enjoying it as much as I want to !

Thank you very much Tatjana : )

Sharon girl it has been a very odd year straight from Spring on .. we never get much of a Spring as it is .. a lot of gardens were stressed and crops weren't happening as they should .. hey thank you : ) My poor garden had to take care of itself most times .. and I haven't really decorated for Autumn and Halloween in the real world yet .. BIG sigh!

Thanks Joe .. it is VERY warm and sunny here .. most of our Thanksgivings have had wonderful weather each year .. funny how that happens ? almost like a request to the weather-god was made ? haha

Dear Ralph .. it is unusually warm isn't it? I would rather have clear and a bit crisp air to keep things where they should be in my brain for what season it is .. your shadow shot of the lake is beautiful and I keep imagining Fall leaves dotting the lake with hits of colour .. can't help myself! LOL

MMT .. such is the play of dark and light ... they both illuminate ? each other ! wink wink

Oh I think I mis-identified it. Sorry, Joy! To me it looked exactly like the Ageratum conyzoides (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dinesh_valke/4121694017/ ) that is such a pest in our gardens. Very, very pretty flowers but still a pest.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

No problem Sunita girl .. the flowers do look very similar .. it still happens that some plants are considered weeds one place and flowers in another LOL !

Those are some pretty nice lookin' shadows you have goin' on here, Joy.
Of course anything with "Chocolate" sends my heart skipping!

Hello there Carolyn girl and YES ! there seems to be quite a variety of "Chocolaty" selections in the plant world .. I wonder who named them ? I bet mostly women !LOL
