That hit of colour we need ........

I am going to cheat here and flash some colours from last year .. I think I am "colour deprived" with an almost "no show" due to whipping wind and rain this October .. BIG sigh !
Even my ivy isn't quite as pretty as last year .. it had so many variations to it's coat of colour.
I always love having a vivid blue sky above the trees to really create a contrast : )
Then there is a mirror of water which shows it off in double form .. so pretty !
This one with the wind swept trees on an almost mini me island reminds me of Tom Thomson
Such an amazing Canadian artist with a mysterious death while canoeing on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park. He wasn't quite within the "Group of Seven" .. another artist I enjoy is Emily Carr ..
Well .. this is a cheat post from last year .. I just needed that hit of colour and there you go !
I haven't even decorated for Halloween yet .. now that is an EEEEEKKKKKKK !!

Beautiful scenes and paintings. My goodness. Is there something wrong with you? You haven't decorated for halloween???? Better get busy so you can enjoy your decorations longer.

Joy,

The colors are a real lift to the spirit! We havve got your wind and rain today, high wind warnings all day. I am sure most of our leaves will be gone tomorrow.

A splendid show of colour! We tried to find Tom Thompson's grave in Algonquin this year, but had no luck.

What a beautiful display of autumn color you experienced last year. It's quite windy here today.....

Lisa I swear it is the weather and lack of leaf colour that has dampened my Halloween spirit to almost a no show .. I just don't know what to do .. I'm flapping in the breeze ? LOL

Eileen girl how true is that ! I know I would feel so much more myself if I saw the beautiful colours the way they should be this time of year .. we are in wind and rain mode yet again here too ... arrgghh !!

Karen girl there is still a lot of mystery to his death isn't there .. strange things go on in that park .. perhaps they keep the location rather hush hush ?

Darla girl it was beautiful last year .. there is just about nothing this year .. I wait all year for this time of season and it is a big fat ZERO ! jeez !

Cindee girl I know you have a little ghost of a spirit in you .. I do too .. but I just don't feel like decorating this year which is kind of sad .. BIG sigh ;-(

I love fall color, but dread the onset of the real cold dreary weather, and worst of all snow, which wouldn't be so bad, if I didn't have to drive to work on it. Our roads get very slippery.

I am so envious of your fall colours. They are, well, lacking (to put it mildly) in the west. I hope all is well with you! :)

Oh Joy, girl, this is so not like you! Damn weather! I'm sorry it is such a "damper" for you this year...pun fully intended. Do you like ghost stories? I've got a link from a PNW blogger that I could send you. Maybe it would get you in the "spirit" of things...another fully intended pun. Aren't I cute?

Your photos from last year are fantabulous. Love that island photo. Maybe you could do a post on the mystery of Tom Thompson's death. I'm totally unfamiliar with him/it.

Keewee yes that amazing colour totally draws us in .. and when we wait all year to see it, without it happening .. well, I think it makes our spirit deflated ? ;-)
I'm sorry about the driving winter .. I can understand it is horrible stress to go through .. our winters are way too long most years .. argh !

Rebecca girl .. last year was so nice .. this year is a wash out .. makes for entering the winter phase even harder .. how are you girl ? no posting lately .. are you just not in the mood ? I can also understand that one ! LOL

Grace girl I am going to do an e-mail right now .. even though you are probably snoring on the west coast at this time with my morning! LOL

Hi Joy, I can't believe that you haven't decorated for Halloween yet! All this wet weather we have been having is quickly doing in the fall color. Tom Thomson and Emily Carr are among favourite Canadian artists.

Cheating or not it's gorgeous. Love all those colors.
That was an amazing painter. He has some good pics.
Not going all out with decorations here as Young'un is not here. Just a few fake punkins. Too many deaths & too much sickness to have a happy face.

Jennifer girl .. I have almost no Halloween spirit to tell you the truth .. the weather and lack of beautiful leaves have sunk that .. plus it has been a sad October for us .. so I think I will blink and make things pass quietly ?
Carr and Thomson are my favs too .. I feel their strong brush strokes connected to Van Gogh another favourite along with Monet .. those two were friends with such different styles yet complementary to each other : )

nellie girl I loved your leafy road .. it is so pretty and I can imagine the rustle as you walk it .. almost soothing !

Lola I am so sorry for the sad time .. we here too have had a difficult time .. I'm not really going to do anything here either .. my spirit is not so keen this year .. I want to blink and get to Spring already ? LOL
