Nailing the Name Game

OK ... who among us have not lost a name tag or had a drastic fit of memory loss that has pushed us ever closer to the brink of "I JUST give up and live with it now!" .....
The coppery plant to the right of this picture has driven me nuttier than ever before.
I knew it was a "bush honey suckle" but which particular one?? was driving me to distraction every time it showed up in a picture I took.
A plant naming miracle happened this morning "Diervilla x lonicera (Copper) Dwarf Bush Honeysuckle"
Why ? ... the plant fates smiled upon me ... just pure darn luck.
Plant next to it is also a lovely one called veronicastrim "Fascination" from 2012.
I have the native veronicastrim in white further down the path and yes .. if you deadhead them when the flowers are finished they will flower again for you

So now that I get over the shock of finally pinpointing the name of a long ago planted shrub I love, what next?
Snow Angel heuchera ... I wasn't looking for it ... but it happened anyways ... a lot of things in life seem to happen that way ... especially for gardeners I think ... on the whim of the moment I scooped it up and thought "why not?" something to brighten up a crowded shady space !
How about a blend of dark and light yet again ... Chocolate Joe Pye with Dream Catcher Kolkwitzia aka Beauty Berry .. plus in close range to Gold Heart Bleeding Heart and one of my gorgeous red Japanese fine leaf cut maples.

Well ... this all started out with the triumph of me being able to nail a name for a plant that has been in my garden for quite a few years (I probably searched every year for it and went through this whole drama time and time again .. go figure .. the perks of aging ungracefully ?)
Something graceful in the mean time ... little geranium "Biokovo"
Now how cute can you get ? .. little flower in extreme contrast of me "large garden troll tramping through the garden taking pictures !!"

See, you should have asked me what it was, I could tell you...it's yea, "what cha-ma call it."

I know all of the names, snort.

Trade you some of my "Little Joe", for "Chocolate Joe" seeds in the fall? Well at least I think they are called "Little Joe" but I do know they are pie.

What a number of beautiful plants you have! I am glad you found the name of your Diervilla but you forgot the most important thing: how did you find that elusive name? You found the label - the name came back to you when you could not sleep at night? (I am interested - perhaps I can apply the principle to the numerous names I have forgotten!!!)

Hello there Jen girl!
Wait a minute here girl .. are you bribing me with PIE? .. heck I will send you anything for PIE !!! LOL

Hey there BB ... every rain day we have had has delayed my paths and fence even longer .. I am so tired of waiting for my project to begin.
I am beginning to wonder if it will happen at all some days!!

Alain .. those Lady Slippers are so beautiful !
The name game drives me totally batty .. I have a piece of it floating around in my brain until I can't stand it any longer .. then I go hunting for it on the net ... eventually ? I begin to piece it together and finally get the whole puzzle piece set with a lot of angst ! LOL

Interesting name game, Joy! I sometimes can't remember the name of a plant and look for it in an encyclopedia. I see your heuchera grows near brunera 'jack frost'. Mine was blooming this spring, is lovely.

Hey there Patsi girl ! Thanks girl!
I have 4 so far of different cultivars of Japanese maples .. 3 cut leaf and one palmatum? Bloodgood. I love that hit of colour and in the Autumn it is brilliant!
Yup .. trying to name some of these is going to be tricky.

Nadezda girl I have a few different brunnera which can make it interesting and they keep breeding more .. but Jack Frost and King's Ransome are my favorite. Yes .. for some of them I am going to have to do a lot of cruising through the web to find out exactly what cultivar they are. that is what winter is for ? LOL
