Snow Day Hits

Well ... snow day did hit on this past Sunday and I managed to "crunch" my way through it in the dim light trying to find a few pictures that might be of interest ...
I am so glad that Garden PA and I got as much done as we did ... now it is up to mother nature as to how my garden survives this winter.
Today ? Tuesday the 18th is COLD and very windy ... compared to the quiet engagement of snow to earth this past Sunday ...
A few pictures to illustrate the white blanket .... brrrrr !

The gate seems so far away from this view
This view does too ... you can really see the height of the fence now that the garden is bare ...
I am hoping the micro-climate advantage might just kick in .. I actually got my mini rhodos sprayed with the anti-desiccant spray for the winter ... yahooo !
I wish I had cute some of Little Lamb flowers when they were that amazing deep rose colour . but even in a rust colour they are beautiful !
Buzz Ivory butterfly bush was amazing, especially for it's first year here .. I am going to get another in a nice deep colour for next season .. they are addictive !
Even under a covering of snow they are pretty : )
Julia Child tried so hard for just one more flower ... sweet little rose is a keeper !
Ilse Krohn climbing rose is a wonderful plant .. so glad to have a few in the garden !
My major hellebore bed here will be my first "must see" in Spring .. fingers crossed !
My "redone" bed in a constant trouble spot will be holding my attention for some time.
I truly put a few more seconds than usual in planing it ... I'm a helter skelter gardener at times so this is an experiment in patience ?  what the heck is that ?? LOL
I miss my garden already but ... I have all winter to get in better shape than I was this year .. which was beyond terrible .. BIG sigh ! ..
I so want to be able to tackle the garden in much better condition for 2015 !

It seems that everyone has snow except for us...I'm feeling kind of left out...not!

Stay warm, and rest up for spring.

Hi Jen girl .. you must have seen what Buffalo is going through .. they are further down and across the lake from us .. we see amazing cloud fronts moving over in that direction for days now. We have a light covering of snow which is good for now .. glad we got most of the work done!

Cindee girl ... thank you : )
Poor Princess ... you are right, seeing little ones sick is hard .. especially grand-babies. Hope she is well by now!

Hello Elaine girl .. we have had a lot of wind too and wow that cuts right through you is right ... by Monday we are supposed to go up to 13 and rain .. yup, Canada EH! haha

Oh much much too early for all this white stuff! Your lavender seems to have done well earlier in the year. I never have had much luck getting it to grow but I keep trying.

Is it just me or is winter just a little bit early this year? In the past, there rarely seemed to be snow that stayed on the ground for any length of time before my birthday (December 1st). Temperatures sure plummeted and the wind has been bitter too! Brrr is right!

I guess it really is almost winter! But your garden is still beautiful even in its winter whites. :o) My son is just across the border and has 4 ft of snow.

Hello there BDD : )
I think we have been spoiled these past years with late winters, but then again they stuck around a long time too .. maybe having it this early it will leave when it is supposed to !
I have been trying some different lavenders out .. usually I do Provence as a standard .. but Ellagance was plentiful and cheap this year so I hope to see it come back in the Spring as well .. keep tuned .. remember that lavender likes lean soil, dry conditions and lots of sun !

Jennifer girl it is early and a bit brutal .. we were spoiled before .. the wind cuts right through you too.
So I have been avoiding going outside as much as possible .. ugh !
Husband's vehicle has heated seats and steering wheel .. spoiled ! LOL

Tammy girl you did such a cute year end post! love the little black dress outfit .. I must try to do that one year ;-) and ? I am totally in love with that frog.
All that work you did .. amazing!
You are going to be so happy come Spring and you see such good results!

A garden always looks so pretty in snow! I missed the chance to take photos of our first snowfall, because we were in Texas visiting our daughter this past week. But Mother Nature didn't want me to miss out--it snowed in Dallas over the weekend, too!

My goal, too, is to get in better shape for next year's season...now where did I put those dumbbells??

Hello Rose girl : )
Yes ... I think that first snow is really quite pretty on the garden ... until it gets on our last nerve in Feb/March and we are cabin crazy eh ? haha .. ah yes .. the elusive and always daunting yearning to get in better shape .. I so hope I can do THAT! LOL

It's that time of year isn't it? Definitely time to put the garden to rest. Everything looks pretty coated in white though. The new gate and fence look fantastic. Helter skelter gardening - that sounds very familiar to me! I have no use for plans, except to undo them :)

Hello Marguerite girl !
Thanks ! I still have "tweaking" to do but we know as gardeners that , that is a given! haha ... our weather is back and forth .. warm and rain with wind today. The city has not picked up the leaf bags yet so they are going to be a mess ... soaked , frozen, thawed ?
Yup .. no plan goes unchanged ! haha
