When the pods finally burst open, you'll see some wispy filaments (like cotton candy) with dark teardrop shaped seeds wrapped inside the strands. The wind carries the seeds off and milkweed plants are born in other places. Milkweed is the sole food for the Monarch butterfly caterpillar! Good to see it's in abundance at your lakes!

Cindy, www.cindydyer.wordpress.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-726816697009103332.post-8466664586793948852008-10-04T17:04:00.000-04:002008-10-04T17:04:00.000-04:00Rose .. I think because they came out too early and bloomed so fast ! Yes .. I have to remember that about the vine for next year too : )

Northern Shade .. there was actually no one around this green house .. they were working in the other one .. so I didn't want to disturb them .. we picked more up in town though : )

WR ! .. that is great you are getting to know Kingston .. it still is (for now) a small city and a pretty basic lay out to follow .. but buildings are going up like crazy every where .. we like our area with it being a bit more towards the outskirts. Good Luck with the house hunting !CanadianGardenJoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18130452541076704075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-726816697009103332.post-6157366363271668322008-10-03T23:37:00.000-04:002008-10-03T23:37:00.000-04:00The mums were cheaper here then the pumpkins this ...The mums were cheaper here then the pumpkins this year so I bought several. I love the month of October for all these great things…Halloween, pumpkins, apples, pumpkin pie, apple pie, baked apples, mmm…mmmm….

So, hubby and I will be in Kingston tomorrow (Saturday) for the third time in the last few weeks to view some homes. I will keep my eyes open for the kidnapped pumpkin family...LOL!

Incidentally, the more we come to your beautiful city, the more determined we are to move there. We've been there quite a few times in the past few months as we work towards our relocation, and we're starting to get to know the area more and more. We've also met some really nice, friendly people!Plowing Through Life (Martha)https://www.blogger.com/profile/06547318824997712369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-726816697009103332.post-47036807244489551682008-10-03T18:09:00.000-04:002008-10-03T18:09:00.000-04:00Darlene ..
