Promises and Surprises

The promise bit is about the bottom picture .. lots of buds to look forward to ! .. the surprise bit is "Little Henry" Clethra .. a skinny little arm is poking out underneath other aggressive foliage showing me what a gorgeous burgundy it is turning. I have read and it seems true that this little shrub can rival the "burning bush" shrubs in colour.
