This is Korean Goatsbeard (aruncus aethusifolius) a very "Mini Me" little one. I had no idea they came in this cute little version , until a friend tipped me off to them last year .. so I had it stuck in my brain when I did my garden center wanderings .. scooped the little guy up and brought him home for the full sun bed. It grew the sweet little flower heads later on. I'm a little hesitant to count on it being there for this year .. it may not have been given the best attention and watering it deserved .. I stretched myself a little too thin with a lot more plants than I had anticipated for that year. So fingers crossed it will grace me with its presence !
Here is another site to have a look at for this cutie !

Well, I see why I can't see my post...I am not a detail person!
anyway this is a cutie pie plant love its form and color,
Gail
Joy, I love this plant!!! I have a number of clumps since I found out two things. One, it seeds around very nicely if you leave the dead stalks on. Two, if you can manage to divide the hard wood center, it hits the ground running again like it was never divided.
It always looks so perfect as if somebody pruned it to that shape. In my garden it gets lost in the overall picture but in the smaller garden it's a "must have".
pretty foliage
Hi Debbie .. yup, the foliage is what struck me .. and the gorgeous copper, almost red it turns in the Autumn is wonderful !
Melanie .. I'm so glad my friend recommended this little gem .. it is perfect for my small borders .. This year I will let it seed out from the flower stalks and try to multiply the cutie !
Gail .. are you having a bad day girl ? .. do you have this one ? are you leaning towards having one ? Have some more chocolate to make up your mind ! LOL
Looks like you got your beard trimmed. I like it.
Mr. Wiseacre .. see .. I got some sleep finally .. thus the spelling not interrupted by laughing is almost correct !
triming of beard accomplished without too many Bandaids !

Joy,
I am going to walk to the cabinet right now, take down the deliciously nutritious chocolate, nibble it slowly for maximum enjoyment and have a lie down.
Gail
Gail ... gail .... is that you smacking on chocolate when I don't have any ??????? JEEZ !!!!
joy,
You must always have chocolate, even if its baking chocolate that you melt and add some sweetener to...then dip in the spoon and have at it;-
Really, it is just some left over chocolate from Feb 14.
gail
gail .. you are driving me nuts .. I have no chocolate .. the strategy all week was to buy no chocolate .. buy garden things instead .. I love my garden things .. BUT JEEZ ! I wish I had chocolate NOW !!! LOL
Then hush my mouth!
gail
gail .. guess who's hubby brought back a "gazing ball with wrought iron stand" .. is that how you spell it ? .. looks strange to me .. hum ?
I have cocoa and I could make some brownies. . . hmmm. . . :)
That's a beautiful little goatsbeard Joy. Beautiful foliage cut and color.
Hi Lintys .. brownies would be GREAT !! .. chocolate withdrawal is not a nice thing to see or hear .. sigh !
I'm so hoping this little guy is fine under all that snow .. I was so happy to find him !!
I had this variety for a number of years, right up until I moved (only next door, but I never had the nerve to ask the new owner, a non-gardener, if I could save any of plants - probably all dead, by now). Anyway this was one of my absolute favorites and it really thrived in the birdbath garden. It's hard to take your plants with you when you move in winter, without time to plan.
I surely hope you'll enjoy your little goatsbeard for years!
Deb .. I love this little guy ... and most of the detailed Kingston gardeners must too .. because when I went back to get another one they were GONE and didn't come back at all during the season.
I'm sorry you couldn't take your favorite plants with you when you moved .. that would really get to me to see them die with a new owner.
