Through the Garden Gate

Our garden gate-arbor mission has been going quite well. The Ornamental Kiwi Vine is happy .. it is trying to create it's variegated colouring on the leaves, and has put out some tiny flowers. I'm so glad it is happy. I have been counting on this vine to be the major attraction for the beginning. I didn't want to put pressure on Niobe and Henrii until they feel happy in their new home too .. and I am amazed at how well they have settled in. I don't want to jinx it all by saying it is looking GOOD ! ?
You can see what type of problems I am working with on this side of the house .. gas line .. venting .. so day lilies, dare I say foxgloves, without totally jinxing that one too ?
I have tried foxgloves in different parts of the garden for 3 years .. all foliage but never a flower stalk .. so fingers crossed this side works ? .. Astilbe seems happy here .. so far .. phew !

Can you believe how quickly and how nicely these plantings have come along? Seems like you just planted them! Very nice!

Lovely! Good luck on your clematis. I finally (after many sacrificed vines) seem to be able to get them to grow and bloom. Knock on wood!

Shelia .. I always hold my breath each season (except for Dr. Rupple) to see what is going to happen with these finicky babies .. so far they all seem to be happy .. and YES ! "knock on wood" is right ! : )

Debbie .. this was one project that has turned out really well .. BIG sigh of relief .. now will it stay upright and straight with our winters is another question ? LOL

Jane Marie .. so far so good .. I think it will fill out well before first frost ? am I jinxing this ? LOL

Nancy .. it seems that way to me as well .. like I just planned what to do and bang there it is ! Getting through the first winter with SNOW will be interesting ? : )

Hi Chey .. it has turned out to be one of my better ideas for the garden : )
I have always wanted an arbor type gate to have lots of warmth, and of course beautiful greenery and flowers flowing from it !
