Toad Lily .. what a hoot !

Why on earth is this gorgeous flower called a "Toad Lily" .. no disrespect to the toad population what so ever .. but hey ??? what the heck ???? This is as close as I will ever come to an orchid growing adventure .. better yet it is hardy to my zone and it keeps coming back ! How good can life be to look forward to seeing this sweetheart every Autumn .. No excuse not to have this modest gem in every garden !
