Embarrssed to the roots of my hair

I am going to try and write the condensed version of my most embarrassing moments yet in a store. I'm hoping there are others out there LIKE me ?
If you are Canadian you know what store this is and how CROWDED with people and merchandise it can be (Home Sense) my most favorite store in the world. It is a miracle they didn't BAN me when this happened.
I saw this beautiful garden stake .. made to look antique .. rusty metal, and VERY heavy I found out much to my misfortune .. with a crackled glass globe, on top, as a perch to a bird on top of that .. well there were about 5 of them in shades of green and blue glass.
I bent over to retrieve one of them and as soon as I pulled it out ... the display FELL over .. smashing about three of the stakes to the floor .. SMASHED glass by "me" .. I was totally mortified .. no one came over .. all the other shoppers were in the trance that happens when you enter this store .. it felt like an eternity until I could collect myself enough to go up to a salesclerk and confess my action .. I must have been red as a BEET ..
To my great relief it was treated as a simple accident .. no blame assigned .. I felt like a kid caught in the candy jar that fell off the counter ... well .. you know the rest.
BUT ... I managed to soldier on and shop some more .. nothing less than being kicked out of the store can stop me there .. but , boy ... I am going to be much more careful , hopefully ?
P.S. Yes, I bought the frog .. and today the clogs .. sounds like a Dr. Suess book !

I love the frog. Oh my, I would of been so motified over that. Good for you for owning up to your guilt and then continuing to shop. So, how many times have you been back since then?

My goodness girl, that sounds almost as bad as the time I ran into that tree on Fry Street in 1984. Klutz should be my middle name. You are not alone. ACCIDENT PRONE GARDENERS UNITE!!!!

Sorry--but I don't like those plant poke glass ball things because of your experience with them. last place I worked, I had to figure a way to display them. There isn't a way. No matter what you do--they fall over. I think more of things ended up broken in our store than bought--so you aren't the first. Now do you feel better. They are accidents waiting to happen. Now they are very pretty and come in a bunch of different themes. But for me--I'm sick of them. lol

Hi Crafty .. Oh boy .. I tell you my face must have been something else to see .. and the amazing part was that every one put the head down and still SHOPPED ! LOL
Yes .. I had to own up to it .. I have the biggest conscience available and it makes life a bit tough on me .. LOL
I just haven't been back since Thursday ? haha

Hi Debbie
I'm glad there are other clutzy gardeners out there .. I need the support for days like that ! LOL

Hi Anna
This was the first time anything like that ever happened to me .. mortified to the bone and yes .. I don't know how they could display them more carefully ? .. it was bound to happen .. and of course it would to ME ! LOL

Joy, Anna is right, the first thing I though when I read your post is that the store was at fault for putting those globe/stakes in such a precarious position in the first place.

If that happened here on Long Island the store would be worried that the customer might have gotten cut, big law suit! Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit...maybe...

And, do you always keep your garden clogs on your dining room table ;-)

melanie .. you know I did have that flash in my mind for a nano second .. hum .. maybe I can get some goodies out of this mess .. it did seem that they made it impossible to get at the stakes without causing some sort of avalanche or domino affect ? .. and yes .. I keep them on my dining room table so I can find them fast ! LOL .. how about those neon colours eh ? .. I now have blue,BRIGHT orange, lime green and NEON PINK !!!! haha

Joy, I can imagine how embarrasing that would be. It was a long time ago, but I too broke something -- an expensive ornament -- in a store. They made me pay for it too. I'm so glad they were gracious and understanding about the accident. By the way I ADORE that frog!! How perfect in this year of the frog too (I wrote a post on leap day about that).

Diane
PS: I adore these photos of Sophie that you keep chaning up. That one you had before of Sophie peeking over the top of the table was especially fab.

Hi again Diane
I will remember that incident for a LONG while .. LOL
I have a thing for frogs and this one really caught my eye .. I think it will be lovely tucked away in the garden just peeking out.
Sophie .. very photogenic ? .. but what a little devil .. she got out on me this morning (only n the deck) I had to do the bare foot in the snow thing to catch her .. proper little madam that she is ! LOL
Yes .. thanks on her behalf as a cutie pie ! haha

The stake is so pretty...being a collector of "bird" items I would've done the same thing. And yes, I probably would've broken just as many!

I'm trying to catch up on reading some blogs I've missed during the health crisis. Whew! Miss a few days and you miss a lot!
