The Seeds and I

I meant to add that one of the sites suggested a combination of Morning Glories with the Moon Flower vine would ensure constant blooms 24/7 if all goes well. So still in Canada Day mode from those cute sweet peas .. I thought a red Morning Glory would be a good idea .. so Crimson Rambler is the lucky winner.
There is also another vine I haven't tried (again my friend had experience with it) Cypress Vine .. Ipomea quamoclit .. which comes in white and red .. now how lucky am I ? Strangly enough it is called a type of Morning Glory .. much smaller flowers but with pretty foliage ..
I'm hoping to train them up to the deck on a fine net strung from the raised bed I have there ..
All this planning and wondering .. will this work ??? I hope so .. my brain is totally exhausted !

Hi! Thanks for the lovely comment about my latest post. I noticed that your Crimson Rambler is the same thing as my seeds of 'Cardinal Climber' (which by looking at the seed packet you can tell is actually a Cypress Vine).

It's gonna be interesting to see how each others are doing this season. -Jen

I think the combination of the red and white will be wonderful. Last year we added a couple of pieces of trellis on one side of the deck and I grew morning glory vines in large pots. It was kind of a mid summer project so I'm hoping that this year the vines will really take off as I'm planning on planting them as soon as possible.

Hi Joy,
I've grown the cypress vine. It was great. We grow morning glories and moon flowers each summer sometimes with hyacynth bean vine over the trellis at the entrance of the garden. It is pretty and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.

Hi Joy,

I had really good luck with Cypress vine this past year. It took quite a while to get established, but once it did, it was great. I bought a red one and it did great as well.

Last summer, my Heavenly Blue morning glories were gorgeous. It so depends on what kind of weather we get as to whether or not Morning Glories do well.

Good luck!

Hi Jen
Your welcome ! .. my hubby still goes on and on about that Passion Flower vine, it was beautiful ! I hope yours will be too .. and yes .. it will be an interesting season for us all !
Hi again Crafty
I was amazed to see the combo of red and white with the sweet peas.. I am really liking Mr. Fotherfill's .. This is going to be one year for experimenting with these seeds !
Hi Debbie
I'm really hoping for a WOW factor with these pots .. I know it will take a bit of time for them to take off, but in my mind's eye, it looks FANTASTIC ! LOL
Hi Kate
Yes .. weather truly RULES us .. I'm still in shock about that hail storm last June .. I'll be edgy every time the sky gets DARK ! LOL

Harumph, I know for sure I typed a comment to yesterday's post but a cyber worm must have eaten it :-( I'm so jealous that your Home Depot had those beautiful seeds, ours has only Burpee seeds so far and a minimal display of those.

This Friday I get to go to a flower show at a nursery about 15 miles from here where they will have aisles and aisles of seeds and bulbs and corms and plants and...Oh boy I'm drooling already :-)

bye,
Melanie

Melanie !
I'm sure you put a bee in my bonnet about that flower show and all those goodies to see on purpose !.. I am so jealous ! Take pictures so I can pretend to be there too !
This is the first year I have seen such a good display of different seeds and I'm sure they are well gone by now. I was an early bird that got the worm ! .. oops .. hope no cyber worms are listening to me ! JEEZ !

To each their own. I'm going to be planting some more Clematis this year if I get the trellis built. Meanwhile I'm happy with the Wild Cucumber that grows everywhere. The flowers are nice and the seedpods are very interesting.

Hope your choices flourish and bloom like mad.

I'm going to grow Cypress Vine this year too. I had it once years ago, and can't think now why I didn't grow it again. My plan is to string some twine or something from the ground up and over the deck railing - hoping hummingbirds will come by and investigate.

wiseacre .. thanks for the "mad" wishes ? LOL .. do you have the wild cucumber pictures on your site ? .. I'll have to go investigate for sure .. I love "wild things" ! : )

entangled .. that is my plan with the netting .. and a BIG yes ! in hopes of seeing more hummingbirds this year with that enticement !
My god .. your picture looks like me too ! LOL

Thanks for stopping by !

It's so easy to get the Cardinal Creeper and Cypress Vine, and Hummingbird vine all mixed up!! They are similar. I think you got some kind of hybrid that looks like a hardier version of Cardinal Creeper. They can sure do a lot with mixing plants these day. I can't wait to see the pics this summer.

I had my first experience with the cardinal vine just last year thanks to a friend that had some leftovers from her greenhouse. I was so pleased with them. They are very petite but so beautifully formed and a gorgeous red. You're going to love yours!

Hi Anna
I am really looking forward to seeing some great vines this year. It takes some self restraint not to go buy established plants instead of being patient with seeds .. this is a test ! LOL

High hopes : )
Thanks for dropping by peoples !
