Our little love doves

We have put out seed for these guys/gals .. actually there should be three of them .. since they are the three stooges .. we just haven't figured out the complexity of their relationships to eac other .. go figure .. Sophie could probably tell us if she wanted to .. in any case .. poor little ones have been trying to catch as much sun as possible before the cold night begins.

Joy, they look so sweet! Don't worry, spring is really coming. Today I never came inside, it was just over 40 degrees but it felt heavenly. The few times I stepped inside it felt like I was suddenly in an oven.

Because we didn't get any snow cover this year we have no mud. Wow, maybe I shouldn't say that, I'll jinx myself!

I'm feeling sorry for them. The weather is going to remain poor a while longer and they've already been around a couple weeks waiting for spring.

I could just see my cats trying to get through the glass to those birds. Are they mourning doves?

I've always been under the impression that mourning doves mate for life. Perhaps one of them has suffered a loss?

Do you know what's funny? I JUST noticed your UFO! ;-)

Shady .. It isn't the greatest picture .. I took it with my lap top internal camera with a few special affects it has .. it made me laugh .. I'm not surprised you didn't see it .. I'm not really observant either .. so when I notice something after a long time .. oops again !
Hubby and I keep saying the third dove is the adult "kid" that just won't leave home .. we have one ourselves ... haha

Hi Cinji .. yup .. Morning Doves .. they are quiet, graceful birds when not going thought the mating session ? .. then they get a bit funny .. but then .. we all do ? LOL

Hi Garden Girl ... thanks !

Wiseacre .. we feel badly for them too .. they are semi residents in our garden so hubby thought the extra seed might help them out a bit.

Melanie .. that is what happens to me when I finally get out in the garden .. I stay out for ages .. enjoying myself so much .. then come inside BANG oven time ! haha
I am SO JEALOUS of you girl !

Ho Ewa .. Thanks for dropping by .. Same to you too !

There are some cute little doves in my garden too that are also suffering from lack of sunshine.

BTW what a gorgeous tabbypoint kitty your Sophie is!

Happy Easter!

Our mourning doves stay here all winter. I have one feeder devoted to them with nyger seed. One of your readers wondered if perhaps a mate had been lost. You would know it because the remaining mate would truly mourn and make the most soleful cries. They are lovely birds, it's just so unfortunate that because they move slowly then they are prey for hawks.

Hi Rose .. they are such beautiful birds .. I do feel badly for them struggling with this winter weather. Then it might not be a lost mate situation because they don't call excessively ? .. It might just be that "adult" kid that won't leave home ? haha

Hi Yolanda .. I left a message on your site asking where in the Netherlands you actually are ? .. we were as south as you could get .. Brunssum/Schinveld ..
Your kitties are quite the characters !
