Hail Storm June 2007

I was thinking of the people that have had some very rough weather this Spring. We were shocked when this hail storm hit last mid June .. it was so fast, so intense .. I thought the windows were going to be smashed. The cats and I wanted to hide under the kitchen table (like Mel Gibson and kid .. War of the Worlds scene ?) .. yes .. it was that BAD. My beautiful foliage plants .. hosta and the like were SHREDDED .. it was like starting all over again .. quite a set back .. but I was so thankful no one was hurt .. that a tornado didn't touch down (yes .. we can rarely get them here too folks !). There is always a bright side .. this is how my Weather Gargoyle got his name and job !

Let's hope you don't have any hail showers this year. I know what horrible damage they do to the garden.

Are things settling down with the new kitty in the house?

Wow, that is some destructive hail...We have hail occasionally, this is tornado alley (not like OK) so when temps drop quickly we will often get hail storms. Not like that accumulated hail. The cloud does looks like it opened its mouth and dumped the hail on you.

Mother Nature can certainly play cruel tricks on us sometimes. I was worried about the forecast for tornadoes earlier this week, but fortunately, they never came.
Catching up on my blog reading this morning--I enjoyed the photos of your toadflax. I've never heard of that before, but I'm going to check it out.

That is a lot of hail! That gargoyle kind of looks like he is snickering to me.

I missed that storm. Seems like my area was protected by a weather dome last year. I missed all the bad storms that passed through the area. The fronts seemed to break up just as they approached only to reform after passing by. The only complaint I really had was the lack of rain. - My Astilbies suffered in the 'drought'

Emma is too cute. I'm glad to see Sophie took so well to her. It almost makes me feel ilke getting a kitten. But 7 cats in enough and there's no way i'm going to go out and look for another. Especially when there are 3 others that may move in if my youngest daughter moves and is unable to keep pets.

Hi Mark .. I think that is the nature of these guys .. always a bit of a grumpy sourpuss ? LOL

Hello Wiseacre ! .. how was the holiday ? .. yes .. sometimes Kingston is like that too .. a weird Twilight Zone area missing most weather then BANG .. some awful stuff happens .. my astilbe were a bit "crispy" at times too.
We are so gratefull that Sophie has adapted to Emma so well .. big relief ! BIG sigh ! haha
Hey .. kittens can be a lot of work .. and you have your hands full already .. that is kind of you to take your daughters cats .. you are a sweet guy !

Hi gardenpath Sandy ! .. this guy does SMIRK .. I think that is why I had to take him home with me .. he snikered at me in the store .. LOL

Rose .. there is some intense weather going around .. fingers crossed everyone is going to be ok .. I highly recommend the Toad Flax .. delicate yet no trouble for me at all !

Hey Gail .. that is what we thought too ! It just poured and whipped at everything .. awesome display of mother nature being very cranky !!

Hi Giddy .. Yes .. I hope this season is very uneventfull with extreme weather .. I would like to see my gardens flourish .. and yes thanks ! Emma is sweet .. Sophie even sweeter .. such a relief !

Wow, that's a lot of hail! We had a pretty bad hail storm in September 2006. It can be very destructive. In fact it was so bad I didn't even notice the damage it did to my garden. We had holes blown through our siding! No thank you, I'd rather have more snow!
