Little Bald Heads ?

Flame peony reminds me of a little bald head .. it has been this way for some weeks now .. is it testing my patience ? .. will it ever open up and show off what I hope to be an actual flower ? .. our weather has turned very hot and humid .. some might say we are in "spa" setting .. except you don't have a choice .. escape is the only route for me .. I am for ever grateful to who ever invented AC .. maybe he had a menopausal wife ?
The other "baldy" is my little face in the garden .. if i had placed it just right it could have had Korean Goatsbeard "hair" ? .. for now , the marigold brings some colour to that oh so white smiling expression.

Our peonies have already come and gone for the season. I usually get two flowers each time, and that's all! The ants go to town on each blossom and I feel so sorry for it!

I'm quite sure your baldy is about to grow his very own flowery 'wig' anytime soon. I have had the same question clouds pop up over my head concerning my herbaceous peony which luckily escaped the lawn mower this year. It was waving it's bald head for so long and then just one morning, it opened his lovely head and I thought I'd take a photo of it tomorrow...and few days later it faded away, so I could only take a glimpse of that beauty. All this baldness for such a short flower life, eh? Especially after heavy rain. I'm quite intrigued by the Flame variety, as I haven't seen one yet. It's bound to be breathtaking. I don't see how anyone could resist the beauty of peonies, whether herbaceous or tree peonies.

Violet .. I'm glad I'm not the only one that looks at peony buds as bald heads ? LOL .. and that perfect moment in time to take that perfect picture .. it is so annoying to miss out on that !
It took me a while to pluck up the courage to try a peony .. I heard it took years to get decent flowers .. I wasn't sure I wanted to wait that long .. but here is this bald bud trying to open for me .. how could I not love that ?
Here is a little link to Flame ..

Hi Brenda .. doesn't seem fair having to wait that long .. then they are gone so quickly .. and how about those ants ? maybe that is why they do what they do ? LOL

Gail ... too funny ! : )
I love my little bald guys all over the garden .. they just endear themselves some how ? : )

Ha ha...you may be right. Maybe a menopausal wife was a great motivating factor in the invention of AC. Whatever the reason, I’m also grateful for it. It's been pretty humid here as well for the past couple of days making me feel as though I’ve just come out of the shower...all day long. My husband put up all the air conditioners last weekend...just in case... I thought he was too early because it had been cool until a few days ago. Now I'm so glad he did! Our weather is so wacky. One day you’re zipping up your jacket to keep out the chilly air; the next day you’re melting with the heat and humidity!

I love that little face in your garden! Where in the world did you get such an adorable add-on? I’ve run across some really nice stones for the garden that have something pretty on them, like a painted flower or some inspirational words, but nothing as cute as that face.

Hi Water Roots
Ontario weather drives me nuts .. it can be so extreme .. the summer especially with the heat/humidity problems. It is scary how miserable you can get from weather alone !
These little guys (I have about 6 or 7 of them) either concrete or heavy plaster .. at a dollar store believe it or not .. I have never seen anything like them again .. glad I grabbed a few at the time I saw them !
