Thank You Patient Gardener !

This is just a small thank you to "Patient Gardener" for commenting on the over kill of some environmentalists .. "Tired of being preached at"
Why do we humans, go over board on some topics and actually drive people away from what really is a good cause ?
Seems to happen with everything ..
So thank you P.G. .. especially the remark on the bags .. I really had terrible twinges for not remembering them most of the time.
Well said about everything !

I just read Patient Gardener's post; thanks for the recommendation--it was very well said! I left a comment there, but I always have trouble on those RSS feeds or whatever; I don't think it went through.
As I said in my comment (which now is floating in cyberspace somewhere or went to that great dumpster in the sky), sometimes "going green" just isn't practical. I saw a guest on Oprah once who said that if everyone used 1 less napkin a day, it could have a huge impact on the environment. I'm sorry but I'm a messy eater; what makes more sense--one less napkin or the stain remover and detergent it would take to launder my shirt?? People can get carried away.

A belated happy birthday to Sophie!

Thanks for the link to Patient Gardener. She and I think much alike. I too, am sick of the constant barrage of eco whackos telling us what we should and shouldn't do. Like PG, I do my best to leave no trace, but for goodness sake, I certainly don't want to go back to the Dark Ages. My hubby has a bumper sticker on his truck that says "Stop Global Whining".

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I have been surprised at the response I have received to the post I was just having a rant but it seems I'm not along in feeling this way.

Hey P.G. !
I think there is a backlash at being preached at constantly, which sadly, turns people OFF .. It is time to calm down and let us get on with what we CAN do, and not be chasitised with EVERYTHING we are TOLD to do ?
You had a very beneficial rant girl ! LOL

Dee .. yes ! amen to all of it !

Giddy ... I love the bumper sticker !! I'll try to find one for me too : )
Yes .. we do what we can .. please don't continually shove it down our throats ? LOL

Rose ! .. Sophie says"thank you!" .. and I also have comments floating around cyber space some where too .. you know I think most of us have had that happen.
When we lived in Holland and did VERY green routines there .. our Dutch neighbors said "next they will want us to take tea bags apart and that will be CRAZY .. ENOUGH ! they said. Now those are truly eco conscious people saying things are getting ridiculous back in the late 90's !

Hello top you! I haven't been able to comment lately! My computer is doing something odd with powering up and down all the time and I lose comments...so hello to you my friend!

Now I feel conflicted. I like being in tune with the environment like most gardeners do. I even like to refenence different techniques of how to limit water, easy-care, and attracting wildlife in my blog. I hope this isn't taken as forced instruction

I got over the feeling of guilt when I went through the community gardener program at the extension service. Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb. At first, I didn't dare speak up with all the "natural" gardeners around me. I can see where the guilt and pressure comes from. Anyhow, I finally told myself, "you are conscious of the environment and you are doing what you can. You're taking this freakin' class right?!"

If I look back to when I started gardening, I grew so much every year and but I definitely didn't change habits overnight. I feel bad for those who feel the pressure of radical environmentalists. Someone please set me straight if my posts ever seem too environmentally preachy.

nestinstyle .. please don't feel uncomfortable about how you garden or how you think. Everyone has the right to feel the way they feel .. I have never thought you preached about anything that would make people feel uncomfortable.
I think this is back lash to the extreme group of "gardeners" that stand on soap boxes (heaven forbid they had posphate in the soap? LOL) .. and preach till we all grew sick of it. Not fellow gardeners we feel comfortable with. So don't worry !

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I feel more confident that I am not sending the wrong messages. You are a popular blog gardener, so I greatly appreciate your feedback.

Great pics of the shaddy side garden by the way!

Best,

Jayme

Hi Jayme .. just dropped by your blog .. love the bed linen idea with garden prints : )
Glad you feel more at ease .. we all need to rant a little once in a while when things get too crazy. Mainly we are all fairly considerate and liberal about individual concerns .. life is too short to get our knickers in a knot for too long ? LOL
