Toad Lily Triumph !

I totally ignored this Toad Lily .. and it bested me in spite of such ignorance ? LOL
It was one of the many plants I rearranged in the garden and sort of forgot while in the heat of 'special" plant pursuits .. yet here it is looking absolutely beautiful. I have to give it credit for taking such great care of itself and sticking "thumb to nose" and giving me the full raspberry ; )

What a beauty with an impossibly outrageous name ?

Hi Cindee .. it is really unusual .. I have had them on and off for a few years but they always make me stop and shake my head ? LOL

Love the flower, bewildered by the name.

What gorgeous colors! I wonder where they got that name for it?

Absolutely stunning. This plant makes me think of Orchids...it's just as beautiful...and just as unusual...

What a great little flower.

Crafty .. you must have some of these too ? .. just the name alone always made me curious !

WR .. that is what I think of too when I look at them .. I went through an orchid phase last winter ... and I found out I am NOT an orchid person .. I killed them pretty fast : (

Brenda .. I wonder too about that .. both 'toad" and 'lily" are rather strange aren't they ?

Debbie .. there are quite a few things in the garden world that are perplexing ? LOL

The closer you get to it, the more fascinating it becomes!

Aren't toad lilies the best? Talk about handsome princes. The only thing I don't like is that they're so late to come on (mine are just starting) and that they're such a harbinger of autumn.

By the way, my dear Joy, I discovered in going through my garden blog links that you weren't among them. I have no idea why unless when I was housecleaning I lost you, but my apologies and you're back in your rightful spot!

Interesting to read also about your problem with mildew in the ninebarks. I'm glad you let me know, and I"m going to make a note of this for future discussion.

Hi Jodi .. hey don't worry about the link. I know you have bigger concerns right now especially. My Toad Lily has gone through a blooming period twice now .. I don't know the secret to that one but I love it ! .. I was so happy to find Coppertina and Center Glow and now with this powdery mildew thing going on for a couple of years it is driving me crazy .. I'm thinking I will have to resort to a fungicide .. darn ! Discussion is good !!

Hi Katarina .. it is one amazing complex flower isn't it ? I'm still in wonder of it : )
