Red Sky Morning Show

It has been a while since the morning sky has put on a show.
This morning it finally graced me with spectacular gradients of blues, violets, pinks and reds. Not only in colour but in structure from the clouds .. you will see what I mean as you scroll through the pictures. It must have been a gift before the wind hit us .. I find strong winds noisy and very unsettling .. that they have been today ! Click on the pictures : )

We have had record breaking high temperatures .. with rain .. which should have been snow for this time of year. It makes you wonder what will come next .. that is why I find sky watching so fascinating .. it changes all the time.

I love your color-filled skies, Joy! When I was growing up in Oklahoma, the winds howled and made quite a ruckus.

Beautiful sky photos! I've become addicted to watching and photographing the sky too.

Thanks so much for the recommendations for seed supply. I'm going to look those up right now :)

Just amazing !
Great captures of the skies.
For some reason I associate emotions when viewing the skies.
You know like..anger when I see the dark and red like fire skies or content and happy when there's fluffy white cotton candy clouds.
Or just wonder...wonder what the heck is gonna happen next!

Nice sky, you got some great shots.

We got the 'heat' too. The wind is really gusting and if it keeps up I might get a shot of a cow jumping over the moon.

I fixed the links on the dragonfly photos - thanks for the heads up.

Hi Brenda .. Thanks ! .. the wind is still howling and it is driving me mad .. which isn't far to got for me ! LOL

Hi Jen .. it was sort of a late morning gift for me .. around 7:30 which is later than I usually get up .. so I think it waited for me ? : )

Hi Amy .. Thanks girl ! I'm going to be looking your site up too .. I have the itch for garden plants (well at least reading about them for now) gnawing at me !

Hi Patsi .. I am just so totally amazed at what colours there are when the sky is changing .. the clouds are so stunning at times. And a big yes ! to what the heck is going to happen next !

Dear Mr. WiseA** .. Thank you : ) I just knew it wasn't me that put the bug in those shots ? LOL
The wind has been just crazy all day and now still at it .. maybe you just might get the cow and moo ? shot ? LOL

Those morning reds are always more spectacular than anything at sunset, IMHO. :) I hope you had a great Christmas, Joy!

What a pretty way to start the day! We had a pretty sunset tonight, but I didn't have time to drive out and photograph it, since I was off to work at the time. Darn it! I hate to miss a good sunset.

Thanks Gardengirl ! it was a beauty for sure : )

Thanks Nancy .. I'm just lucky to have a good vantage point but yes, it seems the sunrises are very dramatic : )

Hi Gail .. that is too bad you don't have more of a sky to see .. but your garden is full of life and private .. and that is wonderful !

Hi Cameron .. I have been lucky to catch some great ones : )

Hi Robin .. Thanks ! .. I know what you mean when you hate missing a beautiful sky .. I have had that happen to me a lot and it is aggravating !! LOL

Beautiful shots Joy. We don't usually get to see the sun much this time of year, so those must be a belated Christmas gift or something.

Beautiful sunrises, Joy! We, too, have had so many gray, cloudy mornings that I forgot what the sun looked like until yesterday. I hope Dave's winter coat of snow has melted with your warmer temperatures:)

Joy ~ Thanks for the belated Christmas gift of awesome morning sky! Almost makes one forget about deep, pristine snow and the photo opts it presents.

Our gorgeous snows have all but melted away (glad I took lots of pics last week), but there's more on the way for tomorrow. Meanwhile, no such skies for us, so thanks! /Deb

Hi Cinj .. I was getting so used to gray starts to the day I was shocked to see these lovely colours with the clouds .. but boy did the wind howl all day .. red sky in morning sailor take warning thing happened for sure !

Rose .. Dave so thank you for your consideration girl ! .. he and the Benchwarmers are all clear of the snow .. and the thyme is looking green and great ! LOL

Deb .. we have lost most of our snow as well .. it is amazing ! The high winds we had were a bit unnerving .. weird weather fronts on the go .. and yes ! We too will be getting more of the white stuff as well ; )

I know what you mean about the wind, I'm always muttering I'm going to cut all the close trees down when it gusts out.
Your sky in beautiful, having been on the water most of my early life, we used to say...
Pink sky at night;
sailor's delight.
Pink sky in morning;
sailor's take warning.

Hi Dawn .. I spent some of my childhood on the east coast .. and yes, we had that saying too.. except it was red instead of pink .. but no matter ! I think it is very true most of the time : )

Tyra .. Happy New Year to you as well !
I loved seeing all of those beautiful ornaments : )
They remind me of ones I had seen as a child .. your collection is very special : )

Hi Joy, what a blanket of wonder in those colorful clouds! What next indeed? It is so windy here as the sun arose that I could barely stand on the deck to snap it! Strange for that kind of wind at daybreak, the high temp for the day is right now, so that is a cold north wind coming down all the way to TN from Canada! Thanks! :-) May your new year be the best ever!

Hi Frances .. thank you ! .. the weather is so unpredictable lately .. the high winds did quite a bit of damage in Ontario .. people without power (I shudder or shiver to think of that !) .. I love watching the clouds and sky so that is something of a mystery to look forward to.
Yes ! Post-it notes stuck to our foreheads that will do the trick ! : )
