The Black and Blue of the Sky....

First I have to say .. yes, I know these pictures are not "stellar" , little, OK, tiny, joke there.
But now I have finally gotten the tripod out from the scary storage place that things disappear in, forever at times even the spiders don't want to be there !
Second .. I have not found the exact setting yet for night time pictures, but I am getting closer ! reading the manual will really HELP .. right ???
Third .. I ran out on the deck (as I told Gail from Clay and Limestone) in my also very scary nightwear .. good thing it was dark ... as night does implicate or tend to be .. right ?
BUT .... that moon .. that glorious moon, was simply so seducing I could not help myself from the idiotic things I tend to do when totally enraptured by the sky

.... and "that" was the black of the sky last night ... now for the hues of blue, pink and purple ... they were also glorious in a quiet relaxing way for greeting the beginning of the day.

Clear blue, like this, is energizing yet calming at the same time .. assurance that you can start your day now .. the time is right, the colours are sorted .. things just may go well with this type of start ?

Half my heart is all for the calm, even keel, way of starting my day .. the other half is still beating wildly when I remember how that moon seduced me with absolute abandon .. barefoot and nightgown, thrown to the wind .. all I wanted was to capture that amazing moon. I think I am getting closer : )

Joy,

I think your night sky photos are wonderful! I love the clouds...very Octoberish! If you know what I mean! I tried shooting on the special settings and then duh! realized I needed a tripod! Lovely morning sky shots, too! Did you have shoes on when you ran outside?!!!

I can't figure out my night time settings either. Which means I haven't read that part of the manual!

I am really loving all of the shots. And those first 3 look like they are shot with a fisheye lens. Very interesting.

Hi Gail .. That is exactly what I thought too ! Halloweenish ?? .. I didn't want to press that point since most of us know I am a Halloween NUT : )
I actually got the tripod out after I saw that YES ! there is potential here : ) .. well, hubby dug it out for me really .... and nope ! no shoes .. just the bare tootsies ?? haha

Brenda .. I'm so glad to have some one else out there that hasn't gotten round to that either .. I really have to do that soon !! haha

Hi Cathy .. thank you girl ! it was a wicked night : )

Debbie .. Girl !! we are going through a heat wave here .. temps up to 6 and 7 degrees gril ! I'm breaking a sweat here : ) hahaha

Hi Jen .. soon I might just graduate to a camera looking lens ? once I get the manual read and the tripod at the ready for shots like these : )

Beautiful photos, Joy! A tripod--oh, that's what I need! I've tried using the nighttime settings, but they always turned out too blurry; now I understand. Thanks for taking these and for the smiles...I'm picturing this wild Earth Goddess out on her deck with her camera equipment:)

I always look to you to try to emulate when it comes to sky photos, I always love them. I also tend to run outside in my "jammies" to grab a shot, put out the recyclables for pick up or even, with a jacket and boots, to run out to the nearby convenience store for late night cravings.

Amazing skies, although I think those night shots are my favorite - so dramatic! /Deb

Hi Tina .. it was just so beautiful out there in the moonlight, I don't think my bare feet ? were bothered at all : )

Thanks Cameron .. it was just one of those nights !

Rose ! I am laughing over what kind of an earth goddess I must have looked like that night .. maybe with a mardi gras mask I might get away with some of that vibe ? LOL

Jill ! is that you I see do those things all the time girl ?? LOL
Thank you : )

Hi Deb .. there is nothing like those moonlight nights that engulf you .. I love them !

Joy, I can see why you fell for that moon :) Your pics came out great! And were well worth the cold tooties.
I tried to get a picture of the beautiful sunrise yesterday morning, but by the time a threw on my boots and a coat over my PJs it had faded. Should've gone without them like you!
Love your naked trees too :)

Kerri .. how are you doing girl ? That is the biggest problem with gorgeous skies .. they change so quickly at times it is remarkable and frustrating at the same time .. believe me, if it was one of our truly cold nights .. I would have wrapped up big time ! haha

A series of beautiful pictures. I love the difference you show between nite and day.

Hi blossom .. that was what I was thinking too .. the night and day comparison .. but I have the tripod out now so I really hope to get better night pictures !

Hi,
We missed the full moon here because of the storm. Your pictures are very pretty!!! We don't have a tripod.

Hi Cindee .. that was an exceptional night .. so many clouds yet a chance to catch a bit of the moon .. tripods are very inexpensive really .. mine was about $20 .. the thing is .. I HAVE to USE it !! haha

I love your moon shots...and you seem to have night time skills despite your doubts:)
I HAVE NOT read my owners manuel, I kid you not. Not even close. I just went out and clicked with the camera and got the very same moon as you...somehow, there appeared to be a blue sky around the moon...it was so, so bright. I still need to learn night settings but, for now, I think both of us are doing very well:)
I loved your prose in this moon-story!

Hi Jan .. Thanks girl ! .. Yup, even though I think we would do better if we read our manuals ? LOL I think we are doing pretty darn good ! .. I got the tripod out and the manual .. that is my next post! : ) haha

Jan said...

Oh, tripod? What's that?

Ha ha...I've never used one, to be honest. You can see I wing it! Probably a professional photographer would have all kinds of criticisms but, so what? I'm having fun...and, they don't look too bad, really;) Same with you...isn't it funny how we're all in about the same general stage of our photo skills with our lovely cameras???

JAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You answered back so fast you have me laughing here girl ! I have to do my silly post on my tripod and manual yet !!! Wait till I catch up girl !!! hahaha

Well, I thought I had posted a comment, but I don't see it showing up.

Here goes again. You and I not only share a love of sky pics, but we both have the same camera! I love my sp-55ouz!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Giddy ! Yup .. I had two messages from you here. What do you think of the new 26 x optical zoom for this new Olympus coming out ? I'm fascinated and thinking about it : ) .. it won't be much different from handling since we have the Olympus just below that grade.. I bet it is GOOD !!!

Giddy said...

Considering I just bought the 55 last year, I don't think the old budget will approve of my upgrading at this time.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Giddy .. I got mine not long after it just came out .. and normally I would behave myself .. but I must admit this new one has me eye .. and it is coming up to anniversary time LOL
PS .. Hubby got a new LCD TV .. so the ball is in my court now ? haha
