363 Days Til Next Halloween !!!

OK .. I know what you are thinking .. she is totally nuts, right ?
Do you remember what Linus said when he thought the Great Pumpkin passed him up ?
He just knew next Halloween was going to be THE ONE !!
We both know the next Halloween is going to be even better .... phew !
Because we had one heck of a bumpy day and it looked like Halloween was not going to happen until just about 2 hours before the little ones started out.
Two events worked against us .. the weather , which was a huge black cloud literally with gusting winds that prompted the bad weather red alert warning on TV.
Next was the time change that didn't happen until that very night .. now everyone knows you need an early dark evening to get the mission started .. I can honestly say I can NOT remember a time this didn't happen before Halloween.
Just a little taste of some dark clouds ....
See the waffle sky ?
The sun would tease us for seconds ...
But I have to say my Pacific Sunset Maple looked FABULOUS with a glimmer of light : )
Summer Wine Ninebark turned its gorgeous burgundy.

My maple made a great back drop for Dave and the boys to have their almost evening shot commemorating the BIG night : )
Then there was the most amazing pink delight clouds with the sun setting .. shot with my Staghorn Sumac's ... horns !

So now the counter is rolled back all over again and I will be thinking of what I can do for next years most favorite time .... aaahhhh !

Just stunning pictures! I love Fall and all the colors(-: It is the first Halloween I remember it being this late to change the time back. Weird. But I still loved having the longer daylight. Now it will be dark earlier)-:

Only 363 days to go? I can hardly wait. I know that you can't.

But it sounds like you did eventually have a good Halloween. We had the most beautiful day, almost like October was waving farewell, unheard of here. A gorgeous night, clear, crisp, and dark.

Until next Halloween.....whhhooooooooooooo woooooooo....

Of course, we don't think you're "nuts," Joy...wink, wink. I would think, though, you could probably use a few days' rest after all this excitement! I do hope the evening turned out ok; we were very lucky that the weather here was perfect for little trick or treaters. Sophie didn't know what to make of the Wolf-Man or all the little superheroes (aka the grandkids) who came to visit. Toby, though, was his usually intelligent self and retired to a cozy spot in the bathroom until everyone had left.

I love that attitude!

Yes, that was odd with the time change being late. Kids here didn't seem to mind, though, and even rather small pumpkins and princesses and... still arrived around 8:30. Big turnout as always, and great fun was had by all.

Aside from that, why not enjoye anticipation? If every day were Halloween, it would be no fun at all.

'ben' .. I think I had a hard time letting go of October because the weather was terrible and I didn't get all of the pictures I wanted .. but as a gardener .. all that rain was perfect for putting the plants to bed (there is a silver lining in some of those clouds !) haha

Cindee .. I know what you mean .. mornings are my time to wake up with energy(what ever I can muster ? haha) and not having good light at that time of the day is very hard for me .. I don't mind early evenings but mornings .. whhhaaaa !!

Now Jen how did you steal our typical almost perfect Halloween day from us girl ? was that some black magic thing you had going on ? haha .. Hey I am glad you had the wonderful weather .. I know rain can be an issue there .. so I'll be generous and say you deserved a break ? LOL

Rose girl .. poor Sophie was probably wondering "What the HECK ??" haha .. Toby was stepping back away from the madness until the humans regained their senses ! Yes the bathroom has some kind of comfort zone, especially when the heat is blasting from the register ? haha .. My girls stayed by the stairs and watched everything (taking notes ? wink wink)

Nell Jean .. You will find lots of attitude here girl (watch this space ? haha)

Town Mouse you are absolutely right .. the anticipation is 3/4 of the fun (aside from decorating ? haha) .. so like the story of the little boy who wanted Christmas every day and became sick of it (I don't think I could get sick of it but I'll go with the flow ? ) haha

Hiya Joy! It's a nice sunny day, so I've decided to surface for awhile; it's safe to come out.

Can you believe Halloween came and went already? We had a bunch of kids drop by for some treats, but not nearly as many as I'd expected.

Anyhow, love your photos. And just so you know, I like that you have 'attitude' and that you're a little nutty. My type of people :)

Don't worry Joy, it won't be long and you'll be celebrating your favorite Holiday again. :) I answered your question about garlic on my blog. Hope it is helpful.

We had a fantastic Halloween Joy ... our Little Pumpkin (granddaughter) was born at 9 pm on Saturday October 31. What a treat for our family.

Joy, we had terrible weather in Owen Sound as well, I thought the wind was going to blow away the house.
The kids were really late coming out to trick or treat, actually we have a lot of candy left. I guess someone will have to eat it....

I have to ask, how come no fruit trees?
You could grow your own apple and then dunk for them!

Hey Martha girl ! After that weird Halloween day of storm weather it was a relief to see some sun and calm winds eh ? .. We had candy left over too and not as many kids .. I think with the weather combined with the flu scare a lot of parents kept the kids to either school parties or private ones .. and I can see why with all that has gone on. Hey .. we still have to get together and I'm working on that girl ! LOL

Racquel, thanks girl .. I will be back over to your blog to read your answer .. as soon as I get squared away here .. I'll post on the crazy day that happened yesterday and then everyone will now why I am behind in e-mail/blog work !

Carrie sweetie I know you had to have done an excellent job .. I am going to get over there as soon as I try to answer posts and a few other vital things on the go ... I am doing a quick post as to why I am so behind on everything .. makes me panic a bit so I am facing one thing at a time ? : )

Tatanya I have been a full blown addict since I was a kid .. it really stuck with me and it is a secret comfort .. well , not so secret any more ?? LOL

Kate girl .. part of how great my Halloween was .. is up to you ! I had totally forgotten EG and when I saw your blog .. well I watched over and over and enjoyed it SO MUCH !! Thank YOU girl ! : )

Linda !!! I just read your e-mail and I am SO happy for you !! I think that was the most perfect Halloween treat possible and the Liitle Pumpkin's name is PERFECT Congratulations again girl !! : )

Deborah .. my god I thought we would lose some shingles or something would snap in the garden here too ! The wind was posted as a weather warning and wow .. it was incredible .. we didn't have as many little ones that evening because it just cleared a couple of hours before hand and the flu thing scares people .. but what a day/evening eh ? haha

Patsi girl you crack me right up ! LOL .. hey, no one would know the difference here either .. especially first thing in the morning ?? haha
Yup .. I'm on the countdown for next Halloween already girl and I swear I will have my costume READY : )

Cat .. are you ready for this one .. we planted an apple tree when we moved in .. it was a beauty .. first winter rabbits chewed through it .. poor thing dies on us .. then we thought cherry trees !! two of them .. succumb to some sort of blight .. then we thought a grafted apple with 4 different varieties splinted on .. we waited and waited .. years later after just a few odd apples .. we toss the fruit thing in other than the 3rd type of grape vine we finally settled on ... that is my story and I'm sticking to it

what lovely, lovely autumn colour and wow what great Halloween decorations you did. Our Halloween was cold (below zero) and with about a foot or more of snow on the ground.

Diane .. it was such a weird October I feel it didn't actually happen at all ? But there were a few bits and pieces of colour that I appreciated seeing : )
No fun with snow on the ground THAT early girl ! Keep WARM !!
