Hello Heuchera & Co. !

I have been "hitting the wall" a lot lately with chronic pain issues .. it has been so bad that even the pleasure of wandering amongst blogs and plant sites has been taken away from me.
BUT .. this morning I decided I would post (before the wall goes up) on some beautiful plants from Terra Nova .. these are their pictures as well, naturally since we are locked into snow and COLD as are most of our neighbors south of our border .. 'how's it going EH ?" wink wink

This gorgeous heuchera is going to be one of my favorites .. if not by name alone which is "Autumn Leaves" .. as anyone knows I am an AUTUMN girl and this beauty is on my "Most Wanted List" hereby known as MWL ;-)
Southern Comfort ... ah ! what a beauty she is as well .. probably comes very close to describing that famous liquor ? I bet you people down south could use several drops of that right now ?
What a gorgeous orange peach colour .. perfect for the shadier parts glowing like that right ?
This one comes very close to looking like Pinot Gris .. I have 3 or 4 of said plant .. BUT .. Midas Touch has a character all of its own and it is certainly on the MWL of my hopes for the coming year .. fingers crossed !!
OK .. I know what you are thinking .. how many BRIGHT beautiful babies can you squeeze in .. believe me .. the plant shoe horn will be activated and more "lawn" ugh .. will be lifted in favor of gorgeous plants I am obsessed with ! Thus Electra is MWL : )
Tiarellas are fascinating little treats .. the shape of their leaves and flowers are some what dainty and detailed .. which makes them eye candy to me !
Sweet Tea is a tiarella that I so want to find .. garden budget may groan .. but baby come home with me !!
Golden Zebra may be a bit to brash .. I won't know for sure until I see it and then I may stand there for many a moment to decide one way or another .. I'm thinking yes, but you know those moments when you turn it over in your mind a thousand times .. drive half way home and then say "D*$!! .. I should have taken it!!"
Brass Lantern ... look at the gloss on the leaves .. look at THAT colour !! .. no problem deciding with this one it is on the MWL for SURE !!
Tiarella .. I have Pink Skyrocket and it is a beauty .. but now with the variation in leaf colour available in the new breeds .. Crow Feather has a definite allure ?
... and then there was Jeepers Creepers ... the name in itself has me nodding a BIG yes to it .. but I also know it will look gorgeous .. so MWL all the way !

I know there are other heuchera, heucherella and tiarella fans out there .. have you made a MWL too ? are you looking for these amazing plants as well ? have you seen others I haven't ?

Spill the beans if you know of more that I can add to my list .. once it starts , well I have to have a dream don't I ? as CABIN FEVER sets in ............................... !!!!

Thank you Terra Nova : )

Hope you are feeling better Joy. Those sure are lovely plants and I can just imagine them in my garden too. I think I have a couple of them and have to visualize them under the snow! Hurry up spring.

Joy, sorry to hear that you are not doing well. Hope you are feeling better fast! Pain is no fun.
I am such a sucker for all the different colors of Heucheras and Tiarellas and the mix. I was going to mention a few that I liked, but after scrolling down the list, I think Iwould have to name each and every one that you posted! What fun plants.

I love seeing all of this color as I look out into a world of white.

I've been patiently waiting for you to do just this post. I must give credit that it is your presentation of H and Co in your garden that has me considering adding just one...... Heucherella 'Golden Zebra' this year! How can a boy with a mantra of 'Fabulously chartreuse' simply ignore such..... welll fabulously chartreuse-ness! If you find it before I do, and don't like it, pick one up anyway and I'll owe you for it! Come to Pappa Golden Zebra!

Sorry to hear that you are suffering Joy. Hope that heuchera browsing is soothing away some of the pain. I bought tiarella 'Sweet Tea' home with me last autumn. She is a beauty. I am trying to resist the urge to buy at the moment so MWL here just yet :) Take care.

Hey Joy, I hope you feel better soon! You have a stunning MWL. All of the colours are going to be gorgeous in your garden. :)

I'm glad to hear from you, Joy. I suspected that pain was rearing its hateful ol' head again. Feel better soon, my friend. I've had a week of it, with a knee malfunction, but cortisone and pain medication have smartened it up considerably. Onward and upward.
Now, I'm truly impressed with all these colourful heucheras/heucherellas/tiarellas, but my personal experience is that the more flamboyant of the heucheras aren't as cold and clay tolerant as are the older, less fancy, purple and green and silver based ones. My mother has a few of the gold-based ones and they do okay for her, but her soil is more sandy and drains well.

I'm drooling over these. I sort of went a little crazy over Heucheras this last year. In October a nursery had an "unveiling" of new for 2010 Heucheras with a few for sale. Of course I had to get one, 'Berry Smoothie'. I love the color and it looks great by 'Green Spice'.
I hope you're feeling better soon, I'm sure the cold weather doesn't help.

Joy, I never met a heuchera or a tiarella I didn't like:) Now you've just tempted me to add even more to my wish list! "Autumn Leaves" and "Southern Comfort" are especially tempting. I have a weakness for all the ones with food names, like Tiramisu or Creme Brulee--go figure--but I think the one I spied last year that I want to get first is called "Midnight Rose." It's a speckled deep rose/purple color.

Hope you're feeling better!

So sorry to hear about the chronic pain, and for it to be affecting every thing that you love to do is even more punishing.

What a lovely post, I am definitely a fan, of both Heuchera, and Tiarella's.

Unfortunately so are the black weevils in my little garden. They love to lay their eggs in the planters, and then the larvae eat the roots of my Heuchera's. The top of the plant looks so healthy, and there are no roots. It is kind of a "off with your head" situation. I have tried the nematodes, and they worked great for a few years. But they are expensive, and should be done very year.

So I live vicariously through other peoples plants, and always keep my eyes open to add another one to my virtual collection.

Hope that you have a good day today.

Jen

I hadn't started a MWL list till I read your post...I love heucheras, and especially tiarellas and everything in between. You found so many I haven't heard of yet and am adding them to my own MWL list right now! Thanks for sharing! Such a great post.

Yow, Joy, looks like Terra Nova has done it again! These heucheras, tiarellas, and heucherellas would definitely add some bright splashes to my shade gardens! I say, bring 'em on! And meanwhile, feel better, please!!!

I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering from chronic pain. That is not an acceptable state of affairs for Joyful Joy. Have you considered acupuncture? I'm a big believer since I have the body of a 90 year old thanks to so many skiing injuries...

That Golden Zebra is to die for. Gotta have it. Don't even care what zone it is! :)

Thank you for posting these gorgeous plants; I especially like Tiarella 'Sweet Tea'. I hope your pain eases up soon.

Such beauts, all of them ! Big HHT fan here too. Although I only have 3 varieties (all heuchera), I have masses. I need more ! I can't imagine a Canadian garden without them !

Hello there Linda and thank you : )
I have to post some of the ones I have that are also eye candy .. but wow .. aren't these gorgeous too ? I wonder if I will be able to find them ? ;-)

Janet girl .. thank you : )
Aren't these amazing beauties ? I have some gorgeous ones I love that will also hold their own against these but I am totally in love with all of them .. now if only I can find them here in Kingston !! LOL

Lisa .. you and I are of the same mind .. all of this white and how much longer it will stay .. the main factor of "crazy cabin fever" for me .. but some days I can dream ? LOL

Puppy .. I have been very quiet because of this chronic crap .. it makes it so hard to concentrate on the things I love such as cruising the plant sites and finding beauties I MUST have ? ;-)
Some how I just KNEW you would bite the bait of Golden Zebra ? LOL
Yes ! I think I will have to grab and run when I see this one .. the BIG IF .. is what bothers me .. whether I will see these gorgeous ones around Kingston and surrounding nurseries .. I will do my best for both of us ? wink wink

Thank you Anna : ) .. and thank you for letting me know Sweet Tea pleased you ! I have to say most of my budget is going to hardscaping in the garden this year but I will not be able to resist these beauties (plant hunting is my favorite past time during cabin fever season ? LOL)

Hello Rebecca girl : ) I love making a MWL and try to hold it off as long as possible so I don't drive myself crazy .. but the dam broke this morning and I had to start the list ;-) BIG sigh !

I do hope you're feeling much better by now. Chronic pain is so hard to deal with.
Those heucheras are so beautiful!
This wintry weather is good for dreaming....
Wishing you a wonderful, healthy, happy New Year dear Joy!

Sweetie, so sorry to hear that your in pain. This is not our season!
That being said, what amazing colors, I totally love those plants, sadly I don't think they would survive our summers here and frankly we are over run with trees and need to take out a few of the old ones that are "ornamental" to put in the new fruiting types.
Have some hot cocoa and feel better.

Those are all beautiful! I don't know if Heuchera grows here or not but it sure is pretty!
Sorry you are having a bad time with health issues. I hope it gets better soon!
P.S. Jack sends his love too(-:

Hello Kerrie girl .. thank you so much ! : ) Dreaming of Spring and picking a MWL is one of the fun things I depend upon for escape, it usually helps a lot .. so I try very hard to concentrate on that and not the pain .. stiff upper lip and all that jargon ? haha
These are beauties I hope to find at least three of them if not more ;-)

Cat girl .. thank you (yes, that would be a treat some good hot chocolate : ) .. You have so many amazing plants and trees .. more fruit and you are going to have to open a stand to sell some ? LOL .. or you could ship some over here ? : ) What ever you pick is going to be great ! It is too bad these beauties don't like your weather .. one little plus for us in the north ? ;-)

Cindee girl .. and Jack-Boy ? LOL Thank you : ) I think they might have a problem with your long hot weather in the summer .. too bad because they would look amazing in your garden with all the treats you have there .. fairy houses, garden art .. you are so creative Cindee any plant would look gorgeous in your garden !

Hi Joy, makes me sad to hear that you've been ill. Do hope you feel better real soon! I haven't been around much lately bu now I'm sitting here drueling (can't spell it but I think you know what I meen)all over my computer - I LOVE HEUCHERAS! And all those beauties you've got there... I have a few myself but NONE of those! Made me wonder, would you be interested in swaping seeds with me?

May your wall come tumblin' down, Joy. Those heucheras and friends are just the thing to dream of during the winter. All are wonderful, but that first one with the yellow flowers is burnt into my brain. What a pleasing combination.

We may give away a couple of ficus to make room and there's a eugenia we are passing on to a friend at my husbands work (heck we will even help him dig it out!)
Finally my husband wants to get rid of our triangle palm, this doesn't really make me happy as I love it, but it is taking up room that could be used for fruiting plants :-(

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hello gittan : ) I know what you mean about drooling over plants on the computer .. these are not mine, YET ! haha .. these are offered by Terra Nova an amazing nursery but not Canadian .. I have to really search for any of these from a Canadian distributor .. I have never seen the seed stage of any of my heuchera yet .. what do I look for ? I might manage some if you like any of mine .. I'll do a post with my own as soon as I can so you can see : )

Thank you Blossom : ) I appreciate you stopping by and the good wishes !

Frances .. I had to look twice to see what you meant about the yellow flowers on Autumn Leaves heuchera .. those aren't of the heuchera .. it is another plant close by that wanted in the picture ? LOL .. Yes, I find roaming nursery/plant sites such a treat .. it really helps get your mind off things .. now get those yellow flowers out of your brain girl ! haha

Cat girl .. if you truly love that palm I think you should just say NO ! to your husband ;-) We need our favorites around us for comfort and it sounds like you are scrapping (but in a good way .. giving them to people) a lot of trees as it is .. KEEP the palm girl !!

Wowsers Joy. These are all gorgeous. I can't imagine how you pick (how many ~ just a few??). You already have so many beautiful shade plants (including Heucheras) in your tidy beds ~ where will you put more?!!!! ha ha. Isn't that always the question? Think about that later, order now! ;-)

I hope your pain subsides soon.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hello Kathleen girl and thank you : ) I will find room some where I swear because these are gorgeous .. I am going to do a post featuring my own soon too .. once I start listing all that I have I will be wondering if I shouldn't start a little nursery of my own ? LOL

Hope you're feeling better! Are your problems affected at all by the weather?
This is a beautiful collection of colorful heucheras, tiarellas, etc. I can't put them all on my wish list, but any two or three would do!! ;-)

Yolanda Elizabet Heuzen said...

Ha, you can never have too many heucheras or Tiarellas for that matter. Can't give you any advice as we have other varieties that you probably won't be able to get. Love the ones you picked, especially Jeepers Creepers. ;-)

Hope you will be feeling much better soon my dear!

BTW we still have snow, it's amazing!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi there Shady : )Thank you !
Yes .. weather can affect my problems a great deal .. I dread seeing different weather fronts changing here .. but not a thing to be done about it (I do have good meds thanks to amazing doctors who understand chronic pain) .. I have such a soft spot for these plants, I think I would do just about anything to squeeze more in some how ? LOL

Yolanda .. I still remember the record breaking winter (our first in the Netherlands)we had there and the snow stayed a long time too ! Yup .. I agree with the concept you can never have too many : ) Thanks girl !

What a bunch of lovelies! I don't think I can pick a favorite. I'll have to see if I have room for some more. I plan to do a lot of rearranging and getting rid of some duplicates.

I'm sorry about your pain issues. I hope things get better on that front.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Sue and thank you ! I am on that bandwagon too about rearranging a lot of plants and yes, sneaking new ones in too ! LOL
How could we get through all of this winter weather without having that dream to encourage us ? : )
