Shadow Shot Sunday

This is a VERY simple shadow shot for Sunday .. my future daughter-in-law gave me this sweet garden stake at Christmas.
It is the South Carolina state bird "Carolina Wren" it replaced the Mockingbird in 1948 .. the male wren is the singer in the family and once mated, it is for life .. now isn't that is unique ;-) .
It is a sweet little bird that sings "tea-kettle-tea-kettle-tea-kettle"

I have managed to really wreck my back with my garden bench mission .. a labor of love but with a price attached I am afraid .. take heed all of you gardeners out there .. you are not as strong as you think !! and that fact doesn't hit you for 48 hours or so.
Take MY word for it !!!
Enough of my whining and on with praising Tracy of Hey Harriet for this favorite meme of mine : ). Visit her site and see spectacular "Shadow Shooters" !

Oh Joy, I hope you feel better soon! I will be overdoing it with a new bed this weekend, so we can sit together with some advil and tea and rest for the week! Your shadow shot is lovely - but you confused me, and I just realized it's only Saturday lol.

When Bob Dylan groans soulfully "how many seas must a white dove sail before she sleeps in the sand", I wonder what the lyrics would be if he had chosen California Wren to be the mascot instead.

Have a great weekend.

I love that garden stake. The carolina wren is my husband's favorite bird. I need to get one of those. Do you know where she got it/

Sorry about your back. I know I'm not as strong as I think, and I don't think I'm very strong. Gardening for a lifetime is a marathon, not a sprint.

**blush** I'm so honored to have my little wren as your shadow shot! Since your son is the male wren of my heart, I think it's the perfect little bird for your pots! I'm so sorry to hear that the bench got the better of you! :( Please take it easy...I hate how painful your recovery might be.

sallysmom : ) I will find out for you and isn't that a strange thing I should post with it and your husband likes that specific bird !
I'll let you know what I find out : )

Thanks Lisa .. gardeners tend to do these things to themselves eh ?
We have all "been there done that" to some degree right ? jeez !! LOL

Cassie thank you so much : ) It is simple yet very affective I think ?
I forgot to join the link over at Tracy's place .. another big DUH ? moment in my life ? LOL

WS .. Thank you ! and you are so right and I have to burn that saying into my mind for now on .. I want to enjoy my garden for what is left of my life .. I miss it terribly already.

Linda girl : ) I do love that little wren to bits and I thought it was perfect in that pot ! Ah yes .. number one son loves his voice telling us his story of the day ? haha .. I hope some of the bloggers see the link I have you on my blog list as well .. so they have lots of signs telling them where to go ? hehehehe

Ms S girl : ) Thank you .. I totally forgot this was a long weekend for us ! haha
Yes all of us gardeners seem to hone in on a particular animal or bird or creature of some kind as sort of a mascot for our little Edens ? another joining link to us all !

Oh Joy, I hope your back heals quickly... ice is what helps me... 'when will we ever learn?' Love the shadow play but not so fond of the House Wrens we have here... they are banished from nesting here, as I have caught them red beaked killing baby blue birds and cracking Tree Swallow eggs. They then proceed to fill all the boxes with their sticks. I use to love them and their champagne songs.' Ignorance is bliss!' ;>)

I sat in my yard last night and listened to the wrens until dark, sweet lil' creatures, I gladly welcome the more the merrier!!!

Take care of that back...I know of what you speak!!! HA!

Sometimes the simple ones are the best. This is a very nice shot, and I love the explanation. Wonder whyn they changed the name of the state bird? Puzzling, I'll look into it.
I scrolled down and saw your bench. Sorry you wrencheds your back. (ironically, I had a massage yesterday and it took the kinks out of my tender lower back)
Benches? Check this out

Peace.

Oh good grief!! Nothing worse then a hurting back. Just relax for awhile and heal and then come back slowly. I know easier said then done!! Do take care.
I love your wooden wren. We have house wrens here. I didn't the male takes care of the babies while the female is off looking for another mate :) They are noisy little things. But a great addition to the Garden. Great well soon...

Thank you Linda : ) it is a sweet garden stake (keeping it in my pot though ! LOL .. yes .. eventually number one son will be headed down south with a wonderful gal : )

Carol girl thank you !
And you are SO right about "when will we learn!" I truly thought I could do what I did .. like the little engine ? LOL
Good grief ! now that is not good and you are so right about that too ! Ignorance is BLISS ;-)

Sweet Repose .. that is such a soul filling peaceful thing to do .. just sit at dusk and enjoy the sounds around you .. as long as there aren't too many bugs ? LOL
Thank you .. backs are tricky things ;-)

Spadoman thank you !
I had a visit to your link about the bench and wow ! that is a beauty : ) I would love your version in my garden too !
Yes .. simple shots do the job perfectly at times .. and I couldn't find an explanation why the Mocking bird was replaced .. it has me curious too !

Peeoknee thank you ! : )
Now that is an interesting name ! .. yes, that bit about taking it easy .. I'm just so thankful I don't have young kids ? LOL .. listening to the birds in the morning is wonderful .. I am not sure who is who but their songs are a great way to wake up : )

Hi Joy. What a beautiful plant stake. Almost too pretty to put outdoors in the weather.
Oh, these backs. We never think about wrecking them or think we are indispensable until we hurt ourselves. Take my word gardeners and take care of those backs. When they get hurt they really hurt.
My mind tells me I can do it and then my body groans telling me no you can't LOL!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hello Anka .. I missed you in the crowd some how ? ;-) Thank you very much !

Lona girl .. I am truly "laid up" with this wretched back thing .. ever compressed your femoral nerve ? you never want to know what that feels like girl !!
My mind says the same darn thing !
no worries .. sweet little garden stake is coming "in" when the season ends ! : )
