Hi Joy, This reminds me of one of my all time favorite movie lines. It's from, [don't laugh too hard] Disney's Apple Dumpling Gang. The buffoonish character played by Tim Conway [names escape me] looks right at the evil antagonist Jack Elam and says in the deepest, most contrived villainous voice, "Who's little boy are you?"

Just thought I'd pass that along. Next time maybe if you employ Conway's trick the fly will be so scared he'll answer you. :)

Haha! You're funny!

Hello there "V" !
Believe it or not Ontario has a native cactus that survives our winters .. but I don't think the flower is that shade of yellow .. but I think I might have run a cross a few in other places that does and it is such a gorgeous colour : )

Grace girl .. I started to laugh right away as you described that scene and yes ! I can see Tim Conway's face as he said that too ! Damn funny line !
I don't know what it is about this time of year in the garden.. but I usually have a flyguy friend that follows me every where and insists I take his picture ? LOL

Tracy .. I'm damn good entertainment at a party too ? LOL

Since I stopped by for the Shadow Shots, I took a look at this post and love the photo. And you are right, the color is fantastic!

Peace.

Joy, that fly looks 3-dimensional! Admit, you used computer technology! ha-ha!

Hello again Spadoman .. I took a chance buying this plant, a bit pricey but I so loved the potential colour I just had to have it in my garden ! LOL

Tatyana girl if I did I would say so ;-) .. but this is the real deal and I was so amazed when I saw it myself .. my camera is an Olympus SP-59OUZ 12 mega pixel, some times it frustrates the dickens out of me and then other times .. well you can see for yourself ! It is a keeper : )

Ooh I love the color of 'Flamethrower' and the name is so fitting. Cute post Joy, you always make me laugh. ;)

Your header is gorgeous but don't tell Winthrop.
I meant to comment on your post "Got Gas" but time got away from me. Your pics remind me of English gardens and their "focal point." Yours are just lovely.

I like that one a lot. There are so many coneflowers now that a person could have a garden just of them.
This one reminds me of another flower, but I can't think what.

Racquel thank you girl ! and that name had me but the colour absolute grabbed me .. it is a Halloween flower for sure with that ORANGE ?!!! hahaha .. so a little Halloweeny post to suit it ? LOL

Hey Sallysmom thank you ! .. I meant to style my garden more towards a potager one but I don't grow veggies so herbs were more my thing .. but yes .. English country is one I would love to be associated with ! .. hey I really don't expect a lot of comments but I love to make an impression ? LOL
PS Winthrop is enjoying his vacation so he should be in a good mood when he is ready to stand guard again ;-)

Sandy isn't that the truth ? EVERY year they come out with at least one new one, and I have planted so many of them together for the most part, so now I am totally confused about who is who .. now how is that for a gardener ? jeez !

Joy, Flame Thrower looks so pretty with its color coordinated fly.LOL!
What a beautiful shot girl!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hey Lona girl ! how are ya' ;-)
Yup .. I have to say this is one hot cone flower and I am loving it .. if I had the room I would do a mass planting of it for sure .. but then I might have a "mass" of flies that love it too ? haha

The contrast of colors is so nice. Great composition!

I'm just glad when I see the flies outside and don't accidentally bring them in with me. ;)

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Meredith and thank you !
I totally agree about inside flies ! LOL .. but if that happens my girls get great exercise trying to catch the little so and so's ? ;-)

That's a cool picture! And I have to say that I did fall in love with the colour of that cone flower, it's hard to find them in orange around here =(

The colour is stunning -- great shot!

Beautiful colors here. Even the fly guy is nice. I like your shadowed rose too.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Linda how can you have that many flies in the house with three cats ? LOL .. my two go crazy if one has entered the DOMAIN of kitty country here .. in fact, I think I should get a fly in here on a regular basis so Sophie will get some exercise .. then again Emma would go full throttle and knock her over trying to get it ..
Not long now girl ! ;-)

gittan I always wonder what kind of selection you have, for the plants we share , over there .. do you only have special nurseries ? How do you find your plants ?
I love this orange too : )

Thanks Nancy girl : )

Thanks Lisa .. it is always a nice surprise to see how the pictures you take show up with other details you didn't really see ? : )

oooh, Joy, 'Flame Thrower' is magnificent. I want it!! Fantastic photos. I never thought I'd say that about something with a fly on it but really, you rocked it out.

I'm sorry I haven't been over here either. It's been a hard summer for blog hopping. I know I'll get better when the weather cools off. I hope you're having a good summer?? Sorry about passion flower but glad you found a new wonderful rose to replace it. I actually planted a different passion vine (believe it or not) and this one is actually growing. We'll see if it flowers....

Kathleen girl I was so sorry that I didn't get two of these amazing cone flowers .. Tiki Torch is rather like a .. hum .. DUD ???!!!
I know now which one I want more of for sure !!
Hey .. we are so busy this time of year with our gardens it is impossible to visit all the blogs we want to .. I am so dead tired by the end of the day i have to drag my self to bed ;-)
I have a feeling you are going to have very good luck with this new passion flower and I want to see some pictures girl ! LOL
