A few little visitors left their foot prints .. I'm hoping there was "time" between them since one looks like it could have been a meal for the other ?
I didn't see signs of a scuffle .. phew !
Yet a little more evidence that this feathered guest was fine .. but curious still ?So .. my "Shiver Garden" .. mid morning pictures and in such shadow still ..
The shadows create an almost deep blue affect .. the grasses have a blonde look to them in comparison ?
I love Morning Light miscanthus .. they looked so pretty right from the start when I planted two of these babies .. and still looks wonderful to me with its natural curl ?
Skeletons in the garden are so interesting (even though it is past Halloween ?) how else can you describe them !
OK .. I couldn't help myself .. another gratuitous shot of my curly baby !
It does look bare doesn't it ? .. but I know the potential is amazing .. just sleeping for now !

And .. again I have to say my own "wow" to that Provence lavender that is huge and still GREEN!
A little vignette ? .. natural drift wood with touches of spiky fescue grass and small bare shrub.
Man made structure intrusion now ..

Actually I have two pieces of these beautifully pointy yet curly shaped obelisks ? I totally love them .. they lend something to the garden that draws your attention .. rather harsh looking in winter but they do cast wonderful shadows.
... and there is that softer nature to it .. these wonderful curves : )

Joy, it looks so peaceful! Don't you love it when the grass stays standing? That new header background is beautiful.
Eileen
Good morning, Joy! I'm glad you're an early riser and brave the cold to get out and take these photos--they're beautiful. Your garden really does have that four-season interest we're all striving for. I love the vignette. And you've given me another reason to covet a 'Morning Light'--boy, does it look stunning in the snow!
Love your Shivers Garden... I'm feeling a bit of a chill. :)
So many visitors! Is very nice to see that your garden is very full of life even when the winter has reach.
Hello there Eileen ! Thank you so much : ) YES ! I am such a fan of grasses .. can't imagine a garden without them .. and yet there are gardeners that are still hesitant to use them .. such a pity !
Hello there Rose girl : ) Thank you so much ! It was a pretty sparkling morning to catch some pictures then .. my Morning light is very young yet but I just know they are going to be totally gorgeous when they grow up ! and so will yours too Rose : )
Thank you so much Meredehuit : )
I think we need some hot chocolate?
Hello fer : ) the tiny prints are cute to follow .. and I know there will always be a feline guest checking it out as well ? ;-)
Those footprints are so cute! I love that about winter, little visitors leave sure signs.
Hi Joy. Your garden looks so sleepy and serene with its layer of snow. But I think your frog by the bench is very cold. LOL! I tell everyone I feed the birds for the cats. LOL! Joking of course and like you I hope they can evade one another and not cross paths.
Wishing you and yours a Wonderful Christmas!
Brrr, Joy! Looking at your gorgeous snow photos is making me cold.
I LOVE your new blog design ~ it's beautiful. Kudos to you for taking the time to change everything up. I need to do that to mine and never make the effort.
Also the winter bird photo on your right sidebar is fabulous.
Stay warm girl!
Your title is so cute and catching. The bird tracks with the cat track was a bit scry until you sad to saw no scuffle. Feeding the birds brings out the feral cats in packs here in the Falls. I chased a few away this morning. I love snow images and yours are very nice.
That grass looks amazing against all that white. My garden is blanketed in snow at the moment too. Oh well, time for hot chocolate and a good book. ;)
Hello tatiank : ) YES ! it is so sweet to see little feet in our gardens , especially when we think there isn't much going on at all this time of year !
Lona girl you are very naughty to make me worry about my frog now .. but .. he is a Canadian frog so he is tough and can take the COLD ;-)
Hey have lots of fun during the holidays girl : )
Hello Kathleen and thank you : )
It made me very nervous at first with swapping designs around with my blog .. but Blogger has actually made some great changes so make it easier and less nerve wracking ?LOL
That hungry bird had friends with him but they all flocked off when the camera came out ? LOL .. the Sumac is a great source of food for them and I'm glad it is so close to the deck : )
Hello Donna and thank you : )
Yup it is always a bit scary to see different tracks so close together .. I would NOT want to see any feathers in a pile some where !eekk
Racquel that is so true .. a good GARDEN book would be even better! LOL .. and yes on the HC as well please : )
The tracks through the snow always make me wonder what happens when I'm not around! Brr though - it looks really cold!
I'm shivering just looking at the photos! I just love most miscanthus grasses, but for some reason the 'Morning Light' just was not happy in my garden, so it went bye-bye this year. I gave it a 3-year chance, but just not to be. The grasses are wonderful in the winter, too. Lots of bang for the buck with ornamental grasses for sure! Love the footprints in the snow :-)
Hello there "Whimsy" : )
I wonder the same thing too ! Especially when I see some plants have been flattened for a bed by a mystery guest ? haha
Hello Toni ! I too have a thing for miscanthus I have a few varieties .. Morning Light is a new one for me so I will be watching it this coming year to see how it does .. so far I haven't had any failures .. fingers crossed ! But it does make you wonder, why ? did this one not work ? .. part of being a gardener eh ? : )
What beautiful photos! Left me feeling very Christmassy in a winter wonderland kinda way. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful shots! The snow makes it all look very serene. It's only looking brown and forlorn here in PA these days.
Hello Byddi Lee : )
Thank you very much ! .. There is much more snow on the way of course so feel free to drop by and get your fill of the cold white stuff anytime? haha .. I am more than willing to share it ! wink wink
Chris I stopped by and saw your very pretty plant choices for decorating with .. love those red red berries especially ! Thanks for stopping by my blog : )
Sweet post Joy - take care and keep warm!
Hello Joy! Snow makes the winter garden pretty...and gives us something to photograph :) Yours has lots of interest. The blond grasses are beautiful with their curls and whispy spikes.
I love seeing the little (and big) snow tracks. I noticed that a few deer were checking out our front yard during the night. Also saw some mysterious tracks that were several feet apart. Abominable Snowman? Deer bouncing through the snow....or a large rabbit being chased by a cat??
Love your starling in the sumac. Gorgeous photo!
Hello heather and thank you ! I have my toasty slippers and flannel pajamas on so I am keeping WARM girl!LOL
Kerri girl thank you !
You should have one of those motion activated cameras for seeing what is really happening in your garden ? haha .. You never know it may be a totally DIFFERENT animal than as ever been spotted before ! tracks make us wonder what kind of a story has been going on while we have been sleeping ! : )
We recently went for a walk in the woods and had great fun trying to identify all the footprints we saw. Birds usually have marks where their tails drag, rabbits tend to have all four paws scrunched together. There's many others that I'm not sure about. It's nice to see how much activity there is when us humans aren't about.
