Halloween

Well ... how could I not post something Halloweeny today .. even if my "spirit's pilot light is so small you can hardly make it out .. BIG sigh !
I couldn't help but take some vintage movie posters and collage them up ? to maybe spark a memory or two for anyone out there that loves the old classics before blood and gore took over ?
Hollywood is so sleazy they have no idea leaving some of the details to movie goers is scarier than seeing some one's "innards" ? ripped out .. so they don't win any points with me at all .. just splash a gallon or two of red paint over some so called body parts and there you are .. bingo a modern hollywood horror movie ... jeez !

The classics   .. they were the BEST !

My favourite funny and scary (OK .. yes .. look at Raymond's Massey's face eh ? he was also Canadian !) .. two sweet old ladies thinking they were helping out the lonely people of the world and a few crazy ones as well .. now mix that up with Cary Grant (no .. I am not that old but he was handsom and had class .. and wasn't a vampire called Edmond ? sheesh ! go figure ?)
This is my kind of Halloween .. pajamas, a stash of candy, and this DVD .. ahhhhh!
Happy Halloween !!

I agree with you, Joy. Oh, and: "my spirit's pilot light is so small you can hardly make it out" -- delightful phrase, well worded. Ha, is that a word?

I have never been able to watch scary movies. I don't like to be scared. I know this is your most favorite day of the year Joy. I hope you are enjoying ever last minute. Happy Halloween.

Love those old scary movies, looking for The Haunting with Julie Harris!!! I am getting ready for my doorbell to keep ringing for hours and my dog barking. This is not my favorite part of Halloweel.

Oh well, the cute kids in the costumes are worth it.

I usually don't consider myself a fan of anything scary but I hadn't even considered Arsenic & Old Lace as scary. How right you are, this is a classic film that I adore and it is scary.

Hi Joy Dear, I've been thinking about you today, wondering how you're doing. Love your old movie collages. Nothing like Hitchcock or Capra to scare the livin' daylights out of ya. :) Cheers girlfriend.

Hello there Barbee' girl !
Thank you so much : ) It has been a not so great month and even the whole year has left me rather , well .. leaving a BIG sigh of what happened ? LOL

Lisa girl I would not waste my time watching 'modern" so called horror movies today .. all it is , is gore and blood and I can't understand who finds that entertaining at all ! Watch the good old classics I say ;-)

Eileen girl hello there ! and YES ! I saw that one too : )
Hey that is the part I do not like either .. we saw some cute kids in costumes earlier on though : )

Marguerite none of the movies past 1965 ? maybe, are worth watching at all and this one Arsenic and Old Lace is truly my favourite .. I had a hard time finding the DVD but it is here and I am smiling!

Hey Karen girl BOO! haha
Yup Karloff was a multi tasker when it came to monster roles .. he was a giant ? in the industry in those times : ) scared the crackers out of me as the Mummy too ! LOL

Gracie girl hope your Halloween was a good one : ) Yup .. "The Birds" was SO scary I watched my step every time I went out doors after THAT one .. a few on a telephone line even slightly looking at me .. eeekkkk !!! LOL

Glad to see you got into the spirit of the holiday, Joy, even if "the pilot light" is a little low. I never watch scary movies today, but the old classics are worth seeing again and again. "Arsenic and Old Lace"--one of my favorites! They just don't "make" leading men like Cary Grant anymore:)

Rose girl you are so right .. they were before my time but I love them to bits .. I can't stand the slash and gore crap they call movies now .. and Cary Grant ? a total doll ! LOL

Hi Joy, I thought of you last night when I took my little Captain Jack out. Hope your weather was good! :)

Well I was shocked you did not post on Halloween! LOL! I looked for a posting. Your favorite holiday has came and gone now. I like a few scary movies but I hate zombie movies period. I think they are so silly. LOL!

Arsenic and Old Lace is one of my favorites as well, though I never really thought of it as a horror movie; just a well written comedy.

Ms S thank you : ) I can only imagine how adorable little Jack was ! Ian was a pirate a few times growing up and they just look too cute don't they ? LOL

Lona girl .. the wind was out of my sails this time .. we had a sad month with my husband's best friend dying .. it just wasn't in either of us this year to do anything .. I'm hoping for next year though : )

Jill I don't think of it as a horror movie either .. it is a VERY cute Halloween one though since all of it happens that night : )
