Home is where the nest is ...

What ever the condition ... where ever the location .. we know when we tuck ourselves into our nest .. that is home to us !
We have had robins nesting at the end of the deck on top of the trellis for a few years and it is such a treat.
They don't swoop at us or bother us at all .. we both respect each other's spaces .. even when the BBQ is going full tilt ? .. now how accommodating is that I ask you ?

Sometimes when it has been a long trying day ... our Robinator couple just want to have some privacy ... peace ... and quiet.
So the tail feathers pointed towards us is just a friendly reminder to mind our own business and they will mind theirs !

Can you spot the spider ? ... I had no idea he was there until I downloaded my pictures .. I was aiming for the water droplets and bingo I saw him/her ... so the spiders are up and busy for Spring !

A few other birds that test the waters here, managing the high traffic zone of flight paths .. sneak in for some seed as well.
You can see the Goldfinch is just now growing his new coat of colourfull feathers ...

Some are a little shier than others ....
Winthrop just takes it all in ..... enjoying the sunshine while he can .... life is for the birds ?

We have a robin on top of our arch right outside the back door. Silly girl. There are several false nests in the garden too. They don't usually do that so much. I think it is because this weather has not been conducive to nest building. I hope they are successful.

You had a busy weekend getting the new bench/trellis into position. Lovely bird photos. We have a robin that nests over the garage light each year. I got an order today from Vesey's ... now it just needs to get a bit warmer so I can start planting. Have you got anything in the mail yet?

Nice photos, Joy. The garden is really starting to wake up now. It's a very exciting time of year; a time of renewal! I think Robins are one of the best birds to nest near they home. They're great neighbours, quiet, and wonderful parents. And they're also very clean. Those little goldfinches will be sporting their summer threads soon; can't wait to see the lemon-yellow outfits.

Beautiful pictures! You are so lucky to have a Robin nesting there! I have always wanted to see a robin egg up close and personal(-:

These pictures really remind me of my childhood in Orillia Ontario. There were so many nesting robins around the yard. We were lucky enough to have our property border a 'bush' which is what we called forest. Yet there was always a robins nest right out side our kitchen window on the ledge. Go figure.

Hi Lisa girl !
Yup .. they were great parents last year and fingers crossed things will go well this year .. baby robins learning to fly are too cute : )

Hello Linda girl ! Thank you !
It was a busy 3 days figuring this out ..I had my Blossomtime rose come over two weeks ago .. way too early .. so I hope it is still sleeping so it won't be stressed, until I can get it in the garden.

Thanks Karen girl .. it is a garden full of life and that is what we love to see .. our rabbit even visited yesterday morning .. eating a crocus flower ! haha

Hello Martha girl !
Time is moving on and this is more like Spring .. not so shocking eh ?
I might just get out and stop at some of the garden centers that are open .. not that I have room for anything BUT it is nice to look right ? LOL

Cindee girl if I can get a picture of the eggs I will try ! so you can see what they look like .. me too!LOL

Hello Erin !Yes I know bush is really forest .. the farther north you get in Canada the different the reference name is for things !LOL

The robins must have liked watching you guys in the house .. their own type of TV ?? LOL

Great photos Joy! I have had robins throughout the years build nests, two years ago in my arbor. They dive bombed me everytime I went out to work in the garden. I finally resorted to wearing a hat. They were just protecting their babies!

So you have sunshine, how wonderful. We have had a few days of the glorious golden gems ourselves.

Love the Robin pics, I think we have a crows nest nearby, not quite as fun as a robin. Nor as quiet...

Love the Robinator and his home on your porch. We have tons and tons of red winged blackbirds here too...

What great winged visitors you share your yard with! We also had robins nest near our house last year. The nest was right above the back door! I was amazed that they would just sit there calmly staring at us as we went in and out a few feet from their eggs. Pretty bold characters!

Hello Eileen girl !
That is the first time I have heard of the robins doing that .. I have had swallows do that to me in a BIG way .. trying to mow the lawn and have them trying to attack me was not fun ! LOL so I understand how that must have felt !

Jen girl .. I agree .. crows are not as fun .. but I have heard they are very intelligent .. not that it helps having them as neighbors ? haha .. it was back and forth with sun and rain .. I am grateful for the rain we really need it with so little snow this past winter .. hope your weather has brightened up and the snow is gone ?

Darla girl .. those redwing blackbirds can be so noisy .. they can drive you nuts if there is quite a few of them together .. I try to chase them out of the garden .. our Robinater is nice and quiet .. so far ? LOL

Rebecca I think they just knew you were not going to harm them or the nest .. not so much of them being bold .. just trusting ? : )

Hello there Helen and thanks !
I really enjoyed seeing that post on the dry stone walls etc ... it is a wonderful art to put something together as impossible as that arch!
